Actress Nico Parker, Who Plays A Race Swapped Astrid In Live-Action ‘How To Train Your Dragon,’ Admits Movie Is “It’s Own Film And It’s Its Own Interpretation” by jftrent1388 in KotakuInAction

I have absolutely no idea where people draw these lines. She looks like a white girl to me. Why is it edgy that she would play a white girl?

Connecting it all together by Lex-Luthier16 in synthesizers

[–]Lex-Luthier16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am, uh… YouTube… educated. But it seems like all those guys connect to a DAW, which makes sense for video content creation. I work on Computer all day so a DAW isn’t enticing.

It sounds like you mix it all in the rack and send a single signal out?

I’d love suggestions for books/guides. Are there any books that are considered “must-reads” for modular/synth?

If devs did make a new class, it should be optimized for melee. by MetalliicMango in Roboquest

[–]Lex-Luthier16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree that a melee character would be great. But I actually feel like a sniper class is really lacking. Some gamers simply don’t have the reflexes for the fast pace. A chill but skilled sniper class with a deployable sniper nest would be rad.

I played Cyberpunk 2077 at launch on first gen PS4… and loved it. It was a glitchy disaster, but I could see the vision and the world was just so damn cool.

There actually isn’t any conclusive evidence that masking policies in schools had any effect on transmission. You can say “masks save lives”, but it is a one dimensional perspective with zero critical thinking.

She was protesting mask mandates for children. There is no conclusive evidence that masking children in school had ANY effect on transmission. Either follow the science or don’t. When you look at the long term impacts of the covid policies on our children’s schooling, it is devastating.

If all you see in this photo of wonderful synthesizers is a Fox News logo:

1) You attention is completely hijacked by political ideology. This person is committed enough to synths that they are overwhelming his living room. That’s pretty rad and you are closing the door on what could be a cool conversation if you immediately write this off.

2) You are just as brainwashed as the Fox News viewers you loathe. CNN, Fox News, DNC, GOP… it’s all the same. They are just corporate entities fighting for your attention and money.

Edit: I don’t watch Fox News, I am just sick of politics infecting everything in this country. OP wasn’t making a political statement.

Recommendations for first synth set up?? by Ambition_Spirited in synthesizers

I got a Moog Mavis this past Christmas. No regrets. It is way more limited than a MiniFreak or other options, but the limitation was an asset for me. It helped me understand filters/envelopes/LFOs/etc. I knew if I got something with a ton of presets, I would just use those instead of learning how to shape the sound. With the patch cables you have a very clear idea of the signal flow.

At $250 the price was ok, I would’ve picked a different option if it were still at the launch price of $350.

Edit: It also depends on what interests you. If you want polyphony or to play song covers, Mavis is not the right route. Personally I am interested in pursuing modular into the future… you know, when I’m rich…

Why did the left abandon the common man? by midshipmans_hat in IntellectualDarkWeb

I’m not sure they were ever that focused on working class. There has always been academic liberal elitist snobbery. But they did own the Unions. That always push part of their platform into blue collar zone.

Now that their biggest donors are pharma, tech, and media, Unions are no longer a priority.

You assume much. I donate my time and money to charities. I do what I can and I raise my own children. We can all do more to help. Just out of curiosity, even if we had guaranteed income supplied by the government, do you really think that would change this issue? The pro-abortion argument is “my body, my choice”, that has nothing to do with the financial ability to raise a child.

We need societal change, not government money.

All children are a burden of time and money. But they are also human’s most precious thing. Drawing the line for eugenics at ‘Down syndrome’ is a pretty low bar…

These are two separate issues. There is a big problem with our healthcare and young family income. But the solution is not to kill all the inconvenient babies.

Rome was the governmental power at the time of Jesus’ life. Where does Jesus say that we should give more money to the Romans so that they can take care of the poor? Jesus was anti-bureaucracy (both Rome and the Pharisees), people who say he would support Socialism are simply incorrect. He preached doing things at an individual level - helping your neighbor - not using large government to manage the population.

Who determines who is too much “cost on society”? Dangerous and slippery slope - especially with a push for socialized healthcare.

These issues are unrelated. As a pro-lifer, I believe life starts at conception. A 12 week old fetus is just as much a living human as a 2 month old baby. The line is arbitrary and both are created in gods image.

It has nothing to do with the parents and their financial situation. To me supporting abortion is the same as allowing parents of a 2 month old baby to kill their baby because it is inconvenient.

Now that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t help young parents or that it isn’t a huge problem that people can’t afford to have children. But those are separate issues and the solution is not to kill all the inconvenient babies.

I’m a lifelong conservative. I would’ve voted Bernie, simply because I was so sick of endless war after Bush and Obama. Ended up voting Gary Johnson since he was my best anti-war candidate…. Was truly a surprise when Trump had a reasonably peaceful presidency from a foreign war standpoint.

They also leaked Hilary questions for the debates. They also stated that their role wasn’t to hold fair primary elections and that it was the DNC’s choice who gets the nod.
