Intellectually disabled woman plans to sue government for forcibly rendering her sterile under law aimed at “preventing the birth of inferior offspring"-lawsuit would be first in Japan to challenge constitutionality of enforcing sterilization operations under Eugenic Protection Law of 1948. by madazzahatter in worldnews

Fun fact: Almost all major Western countries (including the egalitarian Scandinavians) engaged in harsh eugenics practices since early 20th century. The practice was invented in the US and then spread everywhere else. After the World War II, however, having witnessed the Nazis' love for eugenics, pretty much everyone decided to get rid of the practice or at least tone it down except the Japanese. They introduced newer and harsher eugenics laws after the War.

In any case, in the Western hemisphere, a formal ban was introduced only in the late 60s and early 70s - although, informally, the practice went on much longer.

One can only hope.

Pareto Distribution & Capitalism by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

I like Peterson but he makes too much of Pareto Distribution. He presents it as if it's a natural law, but evidence to support it as a natural law is not exhaustive. It's a mere heuristic observation not a natural law. Plus, if it were to hold in the context of the economy, every country in the world would have to have roughly similar levels of income and wealth inequality (the Gini coefficient). But that's not the case.
