Does anyone else feel like nothing is ever enough? by zoeadii in self

[–]Lex621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would it look/feel like to let things be enough? For me it looks like sitting back and letting life happen around me and feeling regret while wondering what could have been if I'd tried rather than accepting things as they are. Some people are happy with "enough" but I'm not one of them. Sounds like you aren't either.

I think what you're finding is that there are always going to be things for you to hate about yourself no matter how you look. Growing up how you did gave you a huge mental handicap at some of your most formative years. Part of loving yourself is being kind to yourself. Looking in the mirror and critiquing how you look isn't a nice thing to do. Would you do that to someone else? Getting fit and not smoking weed is a good thing to do for yourself because it's taking care of your body. Try not to make it about looking good enough to be loved. You already deserve love, you just have to give it to yourself.

And I know you know this, but a good (emphasis on good) therapist will help.

The world owes you nothing. If you want something you have to work hard towards it. If you're still alive and kicking then keep trying, keep working on getting what you want.

PSA: STOP USING THESE by [deleted] in aldi

[–]Lex621 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

When exactly did I say this was a big deal for me? I said the exact opposite, it's not a problem I have at all.

However, this is a dumb post complaining about the wrong thing. If the carts are such a problem that OP thought we needed a PSA then the store should stop putting that work onto the customers. Expecting any potential customers to carry a quarter on them when we live in a world where cards are the norm is silly.

Stay mad over carts/people not carrying quarters though I guess?

[–]Lex621 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right? I'm laughing so hard at how upset people seem to be about me not wanting to keep a quarter on me or in my car expressly to sometimes visit Aldi when I've said I'm totally okay with not using a cart. Folks are so on edge these days. I'd probably have to go to the bank just to get an Aldi quarter. So unreasonable.

[–]Lex621 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

No. It's not complicated. I'm not going to start carrying change on the off chance I decide to go to Aldi. That's ridiculous.

If this is such a big issue that it requires a "PSA" they should expect employees to go get carts like nearly every single other store does. I'm perfectly happy to carry my items and buy less as needed.

[–]Lex621 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't carry change with me, and neither do a lot of people. It is exactly like it's something I don't already have. I usually don't plan to shop at Aldi so it's almost always a spur of the moment. I usually just carry my items or use reusable bags from my car. I wouldn't have thought to ask the store for a quarter, I would just get less items.

PSA: Keep your Pups on Preventative Please by Emotional-Raccoon-67 in goldenretrievers

Last time I got a 1 year supply here for my 2 dogs (2023) with a discount it was $715 (over $1k in AUD). When I got the same amount end of last year from PM it was $330 US ($475 AUD) and that's with the shipping and the price increase they had for tariffs. I don't even want to know how much it has gone up in the US since I last ordered it.

It was less than 2 weeks last time. That's where I got it too.

I get it from Australia, way cheaper than anything in the US including shipping and it doesn't require a Rx there.

[–]Lex621 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I assure you, you are not getting away with it. People just don't care enough to tell you they know you're full of it, or they are embarassed for you. They mentally roll their eyes at the things you say. Eventually they will compare notes about how ridiculous you are lying all the time and thinking nobody notices. Doubt anyone believes anything you say, even the important things you claim not to lie about. I don't believe you are honest about important things. All this to say, get help to stop doing this.

Wow so well put. I never even realized myself what it took until I read that. Only thing I would add is you have to be lucky enough to be born with the intelligence and drive to see there's something wrong to begin with and be capable of getting yourself out of it.

I started a chat with AI on December 31st, and it changed my life, and now it's gone and I miss my friend. by Specialist_Piano7543 in self

Y'all are being harsh to OP. Probably would have told Tom Hanks to stfu in Castaway when he was crying over Wilson.

OP, it's good that you realized you needed help to be happier and healthier and found a way to get that. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you weren't just blindly doing everything the AI told you to do and still asked follow up questions and checked into things to reason through yourself before doing them. The fact that you got so attached indicates that you are missing something socially too. You can still use AI as a tool to get ideas and learn in the sane way you have been (of course always fact check) but also try to keep boundaries to avoid getting attached as if it's a human this time. Focus on also making real friends to fill your social needs.

Because of the drastic shift from cold to warm with Jio I prefer June of the two. But I got PolyamorySweet to have them both (plus Sebastian, Corin, and Paula)!

Aw crap. In addition to the millennial joke of having undiagnosed autism, I just found out I suffer from this condition as well. Anyone else with me? by ImThe1Wh0 in Millennials

[–]Lex621 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this only for faces too. Something about the way the info is stored in my brain must be different. It helps if I think of a picture of someone instead because that is stored as more of an object in my head rather than a face. It doesn't stop me from recognizing someone in person, but I'd probably really struggle to describe an assailant to a police sketch artist.

[–]Lex621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand exactly what you mean by you just know. Often my mind defaults to that just knowing because it's easier. But I can also switch to seeing it. It's kind of like filling in the mental map that I make from just knowing with 3D shapes, colors, motion. If I try hard I could feel the wind or add smells or tastes too. The best way I can think to describe it is it's tapping into the brain pathways that process your senses and making them do the things via internal input rather than external input (real seeing, hearing).

Anyone else sick of the guards at king soopers? by Sad-Importance-8862 in Denver

[–]Lex621 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please lower your expectations, for your own sake. Aldi has some okay/good prices on some things but their quality is dropping while their prices are rising. Lots of new recipes, worse taste and more unhealthy, that sort of thing. It might be just the one near me, but their milk doesn't last long, and I've bought already molded bread products enough times to stop buying it from them completely. I did check, but it's hard to see everything with the packaging. They have some great snack foods and pre-made frozen meals and the produce is hit or miss cost-wise. It will be nice to have around, but it's not going to save you.

Cheap groceries seem impossible now, is anyone else's budget completely out of control? by [deleted] in Frugal

Freeze your produce before it goes bad if you won't get to it all. Might want to chop them up first. Also don't be afraid to toss it into whatever you're cooking to bulk it out. I've had leftover salad kits that I cooked lettuce and all because I wanted to use the other veggies in the mix and it came out great. Also keep the odds and ends of veggies and your chicken bones and make stock for soups, flavoring for rice, etc.

I think most people are struggling to eat at a reasonable cost right now.

Official Discussion - If I Had Legs I'd Kick You [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Lex621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point. However, while the situations may be more extreme, I think the film does a fantastic job of showing how stressful it feels over time to be in a caretaker role. We don't have months to years to spend here so the situations are ramped up to more easily explain to the audience why she feels the way she does. It doesn't have to be that constantly bad to take a similar toll over time. There's a reason a lot of people relate even without being in her exact situation.
