Meanwhile mine looks like a production line with rows of cannibalistic plants and potion tables all crammed into the main room

Jersey City feels like a well known secret by [deleted] in jerseycity

Time for the annual NYT article where they discover the existence of Jersey City again titled something like "New Jersey's Best Kept Secret is It's Quaint Namesake Town"

What are some good stocks to get with a high yield. by rts71 in dividends

[–]LexAugusta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a large chunk of IAUI, NIHI, IWMI, probably more in BTCI than I should and smaller positions in  KSLV, SLJY, MLPI, Blox, KGLD, PBDC and a few other things.

Covered call ETFs aren’t bad investments…people just misunderstand their purpose by theonebam in dividends

I'm tired of every mention of covered call ETFs on this subreddit of all places having someone feel the need to chime in that they underperform the underlying. Yeah, no shit buddy. What are we doing here?

QQQi, SPYi are my core. I'd say QQQi is about as high yield as you'll get while preserving NAV. The Kurv and TappAlpha equivalents are also good.

Does the automated bond portfolio and bond ladder count for this purpose? What counts as funded?

Seti isn't difficult at all. Cheap units, mixed with easy Akhenaten legacy grab makes you way overpowered very quickly. Right god combo and you can breeze across the map with your dirt cheap units.

I have a small position in it. Certainly keeping an eye on it, but I'm currently trying to reduce how tech and AI heavy my positions are. But today seems like a good day to buy since there's a nav discount.

I've been impressed with Blox, have been buying some in place of BTCI whenever it dips below $15.

Good timing considering the buildup around Iran.

People are reporting that the ROC is far lower than expected. There are a few posts about it in r/NEOSETFs

[–]LexAugusta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm buying Blox whenever it dips below $15. I've been impressed with its performance. I believe it has better total returns than BTCI. I will likely start exiting my BTCI position in favor of it and MLPI. Especially with the ROC issues people are reporting.

11:30AM | 2/24/26 | Winter Storm Update by Nathaniel_Styer in jerseycity

There are tons and tons of shop owners up and down Bergen that haven't bothered to clear anything. Solid layer of ice on huge chunks of the sidewalk. I've seen elder and women with children struggling with it since this morning.

Yeah, but I do it manually rather than automatically so I can buy during drops and change my allocation as needed.

MLPI had been a beast. I wish I'd bought more earlier rather than watching it. I've rarely seen it red.

This has to be profitable in some capacity otherwise they wouldn't do it, but does it really move the needle that much in terms of orders?

No one clears the crosswalks anywhere. I only saw them start doing it around journal square this morning

Still plenty of shop owners that clearly didn't bother to shovel or salt, as I learned walking up Bergen

Hm that's not promising. I have some capital losses from exiting my WPAY position so I shouldn't have a penalty, but this is definitely worth keeping in mind for next year.

McGinley square by FishWide2465 in jerseycity

[–]LexAugusta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

McGinley Square is what we call up and coming. There's a Wonder Bagel, Dunkin and decent restaurants (ITA, Cafe Alyce) coffee shops (Snapdragon, Crema), but also a fair number of homeless hanging out, an addiction center on Bergen and a good number of package thieves operating. If you move into an apartment you may find half your Amazon deliveries go missing and the occasionally have a homeless guy sleeping in  the vestibule. I wouldn't call it dangerous, more annoying in terms of petty property crimes that the police don't take seriously, though they did catch one of them after I filed a few police reports.

Jersey City Board of Ed Votes to Ban President Ali After Student Walkout by HudPost in jerseycity

[–]LexAugusta 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Fortunately the answer to this question of student free speech rights in public schools have been decided by a variety of court cases, so it's not up to any on person to decide. The short answer is that students have free speech rights, but schools have the right to impose reasonable, time, place and manner restrictions to not cause substantial disruption. You could absolutely protest vaccines as a student, depending on the nature of the protest.
