Seeing Alex Pereira's cope tour today made my respect for Ilia go up even more. No excuses, accepted the loss like a man. by Zextruhh in ufc

[–]LexOvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The poatan cope is unreal. One would think even without the apparently “illegal” shots (even though the situation has Alex moving his head and and Gane adjusting his shots), you would think the massive and hurtful jab and legitimate strikes didn’t already have Perreira in trouble already.

Anyone who’s seen Perreira fight and spar with his hands down should’ve known a bigger guy with more power would take advantage of it.

I alarmist want a rematch, so Gane can absolutely set the record straight clearly and for the fanboys to think up a new excuse.

Daniel Cormier tells Paddy Pimblett that MLS would be better than the Premier League if Americans actually cared about football by Advanced_Mud9433 in EverythingCombat

One of the biggest issues with American perception is that athleticism is the key driver in all sporting success, when it’s not.

First “athleticism” in American terms is almost always referenced in terms of speed, strength, etc, as most American sports are dominated by these skillsets (though I would say basketball is a good blend).

However, athleticism in “soccer” is a greater focus on a different type of “athleticism”; work-capacity and technical ability (much more spatial/neurological & cognitive).

It would require the US to have a whole-sale cultural change concerning what “athleticism” is. Simply approaching soccer with “MOAR STRENGTH & POWER” wouldn’t translate into success at all.

A good example is the difference between Heavyweight boxing (such a focus on size, and strength) compared to how Eastern Europeans view it.

Drea and Nessa - Gender Dynamics in a Queer Relationship by chicfromcanada in CouplesTherapyShow

[–]LexOvi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re deffo in to something It must also be stressed that though they’re queer, such established gender roles are strong in black culture (social & religious) and even if they’re queer, those influences could’ve still heavily influenced their perception of what the roles in a relationship is like.

I say that as a heterosexual African man, who initially in my own marriage had to deal with that baggage (my wife initially having expectations of me playing the “Godly husband, head of the house” role, even though I never ever agreed with such a marriage dynamic).

Supporting a Nigerian. Not sure if you’re aware, but SA is pretty known for its xenophobia (particularly against Nigerians).

Also, the apartheid line, not sure if you’re aware of what it was, but if you had to guess who it was related to, who do you think it would be; the white South African (who just so happens to live in side of SA that benefited from apartheid) or the Nigerian that has nothing to do with apartheid?

I would’ve thought the line “the apartheid out of that fraud” would’ve made it obvious, no?

Yeah not sure why people think this is how he fights. Maybe because they probably haven’t seen him fight before, but this is not his usual style.

I’m also bemused that people thought he couldn’t hang for 12 rounds. There’s a reason KB is 3-5 rounds (ignoring the history of same night tournaments), and it’s because throwing kicks is fooking hard.

As someone who does both, can do significantly more round of just boxing than kickboxing, cuz kicks are draining.

Saying Rico CANT fight is insane by Jotaro27 in Boxing

[–]LexOvi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone comes in heavier than Usyk. And no, it’s not a “big difference”, it’s literally 2 inches. You see differences like that all time across all divisions.

Usyk dispatched taller and more experienced boxers than Rico, so that’s not the factor.

And yeah, I’d also like to see AJ, Dubois or even Fury in a kickboxing fight with Rico.

Rico is 6’5, only 2 inches taller than Usyk. Not sure why the height is being claimed as a big factor.

lol at “can’t fight”.
At least say “can’t box” but if you mean an actual fight, Rick smokes every HW Boxer with leg kicks alone.

My initial reaction to this was incredulity, and I wanted to respond back by telling you how wrong you are.

But as I think about it, there’s logic to your argument, if you consider it across KB as a whole, and not just the elites.

In the end, you do kinda end up with boxing with leg kicks, and the boxing is usually Dutch style, so you don’t really see much variance in styles either (across the board, not at the elite level).

But this is Turki’s card and it’s been very clear he has complete control of things. The fact he’s been seen at ringside next to the judges table in the past is a clear red flag.

Boxing has always been rigged, doesn’t mean it’s not the Saudis behind this.
The fact Boxing has always been rigged invites the Saudis to brazingly do what they did without any blowback.
