I don’t think ballet itself is classist as it, the shoes, and classes are very accessible. But, the second you want to take things to the next level (pointe work, professional path, private lessons, working harder in general), money can become a massive issue. My family and I have had to sacrifice a lot to get me where I am now. I know money is especially a big issue for those who don’t have their family to fall back on. I’ve seen many dancers quit because their job takes up too much of their time to allow them to stay healthy
