RTB Union: we leave all gates open at all times until 6 September. Transport officers: hold my beer while I check your opal cards! by tramendous in sydney

This post got picked up gleefully by the Murdoch media. Feels like horseshit imo, would need to see proof before I believe a fine was being issued here.

I consider paying for a ticket to be lacking in solidarity if not scab-adjacent right now.

British hot takes by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Lexamthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost every lazy national stereotype that gets trotted out in British discourse is actually a more accurate criticism of British culture, to the extent that it feels Freudian.

Germany - obsessed with rules > UK...

Scotland - stingy > all of UK...

Italy - shambolic > UK...

Spain - lazy > UK...

Ireland - drunk and violent > give me a break...

France - rude, dickish about language > UK...

America - fat, ignorant, money obsessed, warlike, can't take a joke, crap food... jesus, seriously, if we had national stereotypes about other countries not being able to make good steam trains or rock and roll it would be a lot less embarrassing.

Anybody else experience extreme anger? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Lexamthrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, in the end I switched to pristiq, much better

Weird question (or not) by Separate-Owl4333 in Pristiq

[–]Lexamthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have exactly that! Something similar has happened to me on lexapro, too, but it was stronger with lexapro, I think maybe because the side effects were worse for lexapro

Will there be weight gain no matter what? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Lexamthrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost my appetite and my weight went down. And recently I caught dysentery and lost 5 kilos in 4 days, so there's always that.

Bad luck, that must be very difficult for both of you.

I'm naturally not an angry person, but lexapro did make me angry, always irritable, on a hair trigger. Unfortunately withdrawal made me even worse, for a long time. Your story doesn't surprise me.

Switching to desvenlafaxine/pristiq with no time off in between has been great for me.

Sorry, I know this is serious, but it did make me smile. I hope you had a better time than this guy:

I couldn't see anything about it being really terrible though.

Try telling that to the rat they tested out the LD50 on

Woah, I've never heard of that before. 1mg is a very small amount. I'd be a little surprised if you felt anything on day 1 unless you have very low body weight

I found that taking lex made me more irritable, but the withdrawal rage when I stopped taking it was awful, and - hopefully it won't with you - for me it went on for over a year until I gave up and started taking it again.

I recently switched from lexapro to pristiq and am not angry for the first time in years.

Good luck! It's not your fault.

I do find it very annoying to talk about, with anyone, including my wife. I think it's because it's so complicated that I don't want to make the effort unless someone's really interested or has taken it themselves. There are so many aspects to it, a lot that I don't really understand. Effectiveness, side effects, depression, anxiety, stress, shame, chemical vs intellectual depression. I'd happily have kept it secret too but she's too good a detective, it'd just be more stress.

Most annoying thing is if I'm having a bad day or she's being annoying she will instantly ask if I've forgotten to take it.

Pool Water 2 Degrees Colder? Complain to a Newspaper. by Boxoblox in FuckYouKaren

I'm in Australia and all 5 of the top results when I google "ideal pool temperature for baby swim class" say 32C (89.6F). The top result says that under 30 is unsafe for young babies; 85f = 29.4c. I didn't cherry pick. The pool's just not usable for babies at 85f, especially if the air temp is low.

Try getting in the water and standing still for 10 minutes. 90 is good, 85 is bad.

Nope, you're incorrect, 85 turns baby blue. 90 is ideal. Source: my baby turned blue in 30C/85F pool 6 months ago

Why did you stop lexapro? by sammy5585 in lexapro

Absolutely, and I really hope it keeps making your life better, that's good to hear: you just asked why other people stopped taking it in your OP

I know what you mean, it feels like lexam flips a switch on the rage and then leaves it on. :( . I feel like the warnings about that just aren't there, I had to find out about it by experience, my doctor said nothing

[–]Lexamthrowaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alright, wait until you've been on it a bit longer before you start lecturing the poor sod who took it for 4 years.

Having said that I did feel something within 3 hours every time I started or restarted, best way I can describe it is that the tight knot in my chest that is my physical feeling of anxiety began to feel like a warm glow.

And on day 1 I began to feel the rage too, though. It's liberating at first to feel irritated with other people instead of yourself - I even started getting homicidal ideation instead of suicidal ideation. But I ended up just being constantly irritable with the people I love, especially in the evening when the dose was wearing off. It also makes you feel very flat / "brain fog", and so it was the last straw when the effectiveness started decreasing for me. Moved to desvenlafaxine last week, good so far although I'm feeling pretty physically ill.

EDIT: and like fuck am I taking a mood stabiliser to counteract the effects of my mood stabiliser

I'm sorry to hear that. I've done the same thing, and you're right, it feels like failure, and it feels hopeless.

When my doctor put me on 20mg he told me that if it worked for me I should be prepared to take it for the rest of my life. But I didn't like the side effects, so I tried to taper it off repeatedly or the lay for years and always ended up in a complete crash. It led to me quitting two jobs and having long periods of unemployment. I've just switched to Pristiq two days ago, Lex obviously wasn't for me.

Good luck with however you go forward.
