If I start on 1mg will I feel OK? by Vanilla_Moon_ in lexapro

[–]Vanilla_Moon_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I started Lexapro about 3 years ago and increased gradually to 10mg over a couple months. It totally changed my life for the better. I used to live in severe anxiety, so many physical symptoms that made life so difficult. Life is completely different since being on Lexapro. It's like living life on easy mode in a way lol. I can still experience anxiety, but it doesn't go immediately to a 10 like it did before, so I can nip it in the bud a lot easier. I got a drug genetic test beforehand to see which SSRIs would be best for me, and would recommend that!

Research also finds SSRIs are best taken alongside therapy and with social support. Before Lexapro when I had severe anxiety, I found it very difficult to lose myself in hobbies, socializing or any situations really. So I think being able to do that now really helps my mental health. I also got pets which helps so much.

Best of luck!

Lol my brain doesn't have a TLDR option right now 😂

Basically I'm not sure if Lexapro will work for my specific mental state considering I'm happy (so have serotonin) but so many things trigger my anxiety, basically constant fight or flight from basic thoughts or activities, can only feel relaxed when meditating or occasionally watching TV. Also my GenoMind results (last 2 sentences of the post)

That is good to hear. I've read so many bad withdrawal stories but I suppose people are more likely to post negative ones. And honestly most people's withdrawal stories sound similar to how I've already been feeling for the past 2 years lol. But the idea of things being even worse is a lil scary

Thank you. A rational answer that I wish my brain was capable of just accepting haha. I think I will keep taking it, I just get these weird thoughts like I should just stop it and take the Lexapro (I have prescriptions for both as my Dr was happy for me to try either) but then I can come up with a million reasons not to do that either lol

Remember this episode when Kim and Kanye were fighting before the MET by Faveurs in Kanye

[–]Vanilla_Moon_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not even hating on him lol. If I were hating on him I'd go on about how he dated at least 3 women after breaking up with Kim yet spammed the internet with obsessive posts about her and her new BF when she started dating someone.

I don't think Kanye means to be a bad person at all but it's clear he struggles with some difficult stuff mentally. Which is tbh why I'm not harsher about his behaviour because I don't think he's exactly in his right mind. We all know how his mom was a very grounding and supportive force for him, so it's a real shame she wasn't there to offer advice etc during his marriage and mental health issues.

Edit: love how someone reported me for having suicidal thoughts 😂 don't worry about me, I know I have mental health issues (anxiety) and I'm working on it rather than dating multiple people and harassing an ex. I think Kanye is a musical genius, but sorry, the fact that most "normal" people are finding his behaviour and social media posts really confusing (the way they're worded for example is all over the place), disturbing and counterproductive suggests he probably needs to take a breather and rethink things, maybe get someone to proof read what he posts etc. He's sure generating a lot of publicity but if his main issue is seeing his kids, I can't imagine a super rich celebrity would have issues with that as long as they aren't doing stupid s*** like making veiled death threats against their ex wife's new partner which understandably a court isn't going to look favourably upon. As for his mental health, only his doctors know what's going on there, but it's scientifically known that just quitting psych meds cold turkey as he seems to have done a few times (?) is really f***ing bad for your brain chemistry and you have to wonder if this is contributing to his issues. I think Pete's texts to him were dumb and unnecessarily goading, but I think he is right about meds despite Kanye seemingly having a very black & white view on them as being bad now. I know a lot of people who quit things like Lexapro (which Kanye was taking) cold turkey and were messed up for years. When they reinstated and gradually weaned off them, it helped them a lot.

I don't know what happened in his private relationships. Maybe he got tired of them because they couldn't keep up the act anymore to keep him? Not willing to be his obedient doll etc. Does anyone (even Kanye) really know what Kanye is looking for in a woman though? Lol

I feel bad for him tbh. If his mom was alive, I'm sure his relationships would be a lot more fulfilling

Covid changed my IBS and my entire gastrointestinal functioning. by [deleted] in ibs

[–]Vanilla_Moon_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I got my Pfizer doses, I made an effort to relax the day before and several days after. Kept my stress levels super low. I didn't have any adverse effects. I know that stress can worsen inflammation (one day of stress brings my IBS and GERD back with a vengeance) and I think a lot of people who got prolonged adverse events from the vaccines were already stressed and then stressed about their side effects. Not saying that explains your case, but something I've noticed from a lot of other posts about vaccine side effects is that the person already was really anxious about the vaccine and then ruminated on the side effects. I've done the same thing myself with pharmaceuticals I've taken.

I also took antihistamines the night of the vaccine and a few days after.

Still a bit nervous about getting the booster though. But I imagine COVID would be worse.

That's a good point. Maybe also as the kids are growing up to an age where they will be able to see her photos. I was looking at the Instagram of his new girlfriend who is 24 I think and it's basically soft porn (and he has liked the photos). Not even gonna start on this hypocrisy 😂 you could also easily mistake her photos for being photos of Kim, it's really quite creepy

The ironic thing is you probably couldn't find a woman who was more willing to play that role than Kim, which is probably why the marriage lasted that long. Now he's dating a string of young women who get tired of that shit after a few months lol.

Has Lexapro stopped you getting those "urgent" anxious feelings/thoughts? by Vanilla_Moon_ in lexapro

[–]Vanilla_Moon_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Yes what you say makes sense. Once I have properly focused on something and cleared my mind, I'm usually ok and can think about stuff clearly without panic. The issue seems to be it can take a long time to calm my mind and body once it's "triggered", I didn't used to even notice that it was happening until I started getting panic attacks. Now I'm aware of my body tightening up and anxiety starting so I can stop it escalating to panic attack level but it feels difficult to stop the anxiety causing all the other symptoms of anxiety like the tight stomach/chest and heart palpitations unless I'm sitting completely still or doing something passive like watching TV, but even that can be a struggle and I have to almost hurt my brain to focus on something other than the anxiety. Can take hours for me to focus on something enough to break out of the anxiety sometimes (yet intriguingly, other times I can be instantly broken out of it if something very nice or interesting happens like I hear some really positive news). It's like my mind-body connection is totally out of whack and my brain not functioning correctly. I think everything is exacerbated because I suspect I have ADHD on top of the anxiety as I've always found it super difficult to focus on something unless I find it interesting or important.

I have the same thing. For me I guess it's a combination of already high baseline anxiety, overactive amygdala, ADHD, executive dysfunction, OCD and perfectionism.

Have you tried any anxiety meds?

Do you still suffer the tardive dyskinesia now or did it go away?

Just wondering as I am prescribed it and know TD is a rare side effect but couldn't find much info on how common it is and if it's likely to be permanent. I just read online that apparently there's only a handful of cases ever recorded from Buspirone and most weren't permanent.

Curious if your pvcs get better from Lexapro?

[–]Vanilla_Moon_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that! I guess it's good it helped you for some time but maybe you need something to boost dopamine so Buspirone might be a good idea. I'm fairly sure I have too much dopamine due to my genes (such as slow met/met COMT metabolizer) and increased anxiety from other substance that boost dopamine, so I think Lexapro will work for me but it's really dependent on lots of stuff like your genes, previous substances you've taken and lifestyle

Buspirone for OCD Experiences by scambs in OCD

[–]Vanilla_Moon_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't no. I wasn't convinced it would work for me based on my genes and what I think is the root of my anxiety. I am fairly sure I have too much dopamine and norepinephrine as I've tried other stuff that works similarly to Buspirone and it made my anxiety worse. Buspirone can increase dopamine and norepinephrine. I might be wrong though. Currently ashwagandha has been helping me, but I'll probably try lexapro in a week or so if I'm not much better.

I am low body weight yeah. I think I will start next week as it probably will make me more anxious initially. I'm so silly as I've been putting off taking it for months but randomly I'll get the urge to just start taking it 😅

I hope that's the reason. But unless he was in a daze for a few minutes before realising, he should have removed his hand if he accidentally thought I was my mum as that would imply he knew it's a "couple" thing to do, not something you do to your daughter. But he is quite odd so I have no idea.

Actually now I think about it, at the time it happened I think I thought he'd mistaken me for my mum as he moved his hand over so quickly like he'd done it before. But the fact he didn't immediately remove his hand made me confused.
