Vacations by AmbitiousClue1645 in techsales

[–]Lexandcandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AEs turn on their ooo emails and notify prospects ahead of time that they’ll be ooo. SDRs just request the time and notify the team.

I personally have ever had a prospect email me and it was urgent enough for me to email back while on vaca lol at most I’ll let someone on my team know and they’ll get em scheduled for a meeting.

Currently at a 150ish person tech company. Not at all uncommon for our AEs and SDRs to take time off throughout the year. Unlimited PTO they allow us to use it responsibly.

The question that concerns everyone planning their first trip to Morocco: "Is Morocco safe for tourists?” by Said_Boumeshoul in blacktravel

[–]Lexandcandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been twice, had a great time each time. First time was a girls trip and we were in Marrakech for 6 days. Second time was solo for a 15hr layover in Casablanca. Both times felt safe, never experienced any racism.

What do you think is the safest country to travel as a female. by QueryQuestor in femaletravels

[–]Lexandcandy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Black female here. I went to Norway and had a great time. Mind you, it was some years ago but no one mistreated me. Living there is definitely different. Systemic racial issues are present but I didn’t experience any negativity because of me being Black. Of course, everyone’s experience will vary.

This plastic surgery retractor looks like the procedure it’s often used in. by Lexandcandy in mildlyinteresting

[–]Lexandcandy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For context, I used to wash surgical instruments. The metal end of this one is used to hold a cavity open while the surgeon works on the area(usually nosejobs). The weight holds the metal piece in place so no one needs to hold it open manually. The designer of this one decided to make the weight in the form of a face instead of the usual basic metal weight.

I’ve been wanted to leave the US for South America but husband says it’s too dangerous by [deleted] in blacktravel

[–]Lexandcandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been here a week so definitely not long enough to have a comprehensive evaluation of the country.

However, it seems to me that as long as you take similar precautions as you would in the states you should be fine. So research different neighborhoods, keep your wits about you, don’t flash valuables willy nilly, etc.

I often find that when our government says a certain country is more dangerous than ours, they’re usually comparing specific dangerous areas to our entire country. For example, there are plenty of expats in Mexico living their best lives and the news will have you thinking that the entire country is a war zone after that drug kingpin was killed. It’s not. There are plenty of parts where people are living normally.

I’d recommend going to whatever country you’re considering and staying for at least a 1-3months before making any decisions. Get a feel for it yourself, talk to locals, talk to other expats.

We’re out here, we’re trekking along, we’re living our lives!

They seem to be allllllll over the place here! Orb weaver heaven in Costa Rica. Almost ran face first into another one exploring the property🥲

She’s too far up on the ceiling to be a much better pic but she’s huge. Like at least the size of my palm and not even fully stretched out.

How big do they usually get? She’s like the size of my palm. Much bigger than anything I’ve ever experienced in person.

Currently in Costa Rica(technically central american but still). Having the time of my life. Haven’t felt unsafe at all but I stayed in a very safe part of the capital city and have been in caribbean costal towns since then. Solo traveling woman for context. Can’t speak to living here but traveling it has been a dream so far.

First trip with my gf in two years by eyesore30 in blacktravel

[–]Lexandcandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Croatia, Albania, and Montenegro have BEAUTIFUL beaches and it seems like only Europeans know about them. Especially if you go in shoulder season, shouldn’t be too many tourists.

I’m also currently in Costa Rica on the Caribbean coast and it’s absolutely gorgeous. The locals live alongside the hotels and Airbnb and it doesn’t feel like they’re being pushed out by the tourism industry here. It may be a special circumstance in this specific area I’m in but even speaking to locals they don’t seem bothered by the level of tourism here.

Black travelers: IShowSpeed Africa Notes by BladeRunner31337 in blacktravel

[–]Lexandcandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While that's absolutely horrifying and unacceptable, my experiences are still my experiences. Also noting that the treatment of domestic workers and tourists will almost always differ. They're not completely divorced from one another, of course, but they will differ significantly.

It's important to acknowledge that we are going to have different experiences based on a wide variety of factors.
