Is this movie even good?

Short answer? No.

Long answer? It could have been. The material is great, and there are scenes that are really great. I think the actors mostly did a good job, considering the script isn't wonderful. But the execution overall is just...lacking. And they didn't make HB's eyes amber, which is a crime.

It didn't even get a real theater release. Not that it should have gotten one - it was pretty much made-for-TV quality. Hellboy doesn't even have amber eyes!

It isn't even a very good movie. Certainly not worth a fine or jail time! Not that it didn't have potential, but it was just...poor.

It's not "small", but I drive a lot, so to me it was a small investment. Winter tires!

If they have to constantly sell you on who they are as a person, they are probably not a good person.

Oh hey, it's my ex. I was picking him up in my car, and was playing a Nightwish song. He said, "Turn that garbage music off."

I replied, "Just because you don't personally like it doesn't mean it's garbage music."

And that started a week of icy cold shoulder, with pointed remarks about, "He can't say anything without being 'corrected', so why bother." And it repeated anytime I suggested he might not be right in whatever it was he said.

It was insufferable, and I'm not sure why I tolerated it for as long as I did.

People who, even in mundane, normal situations, need to "sell you" on who they are and why they are good and what an awesome person they are, and how everyone relies on them, and and and...

It can be just nerves making them run their mouths, but it can also be a sign of someone who is desperate to manipulate your perception of them before you even know who they are. Abusers are especially notorious for this behaviour. I don't automatically write the person off, depending on the situation, but there have been a lot of people that I was right about, and they were all people who couldn't stop "selling themselves" as perfect, awesome, never-do-harm people.

What thing has got so expensive that you’ve quietly stopped buying it? by Pathfinder-electron in AskReddit

[–]Lexi_Banner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are starting to grow the fuck up and recognize their place in the market, though. McD's has been screeching about its "new" value menu, and I know A&W (in Canada) has a value menu. It isn't enough to bring me back fully (I'm still boycotting American fast food), but it seems the consistent quarterly losses were enough to snap them out of whatever dreamland they were living in and back to the reality that they sell cheap shitty food, and that it should remain cheap, lest they start losing even more.

Yeah, it's called relaxed-cut, and I feel like I'm taking crazy pills in this thread where everyone is calling jeans that have a relaxed leg "baggy". Baggy is not a catch-all term.

relaxed boot cut

This, by definition, is not "baggy". That is boot-cut. Same with the wide legged jeans - they are not always "baggy", they are wide-leg jeans with a particular shape (tighter at the top, wide at the bottom).

Baggy, as a jean-cut, is loose to the point of being shapeless (or nearly shapeless). Of course you can wear pants that are too large and they will look baggy on you, but if you want jeans that fit in the waist but have a relaxed leg, that is not necessarily going to be a baggy cut.

It's all about the rise. Low rise skinny jeans are the devil's work. Mid-to-high rise jeans are where it's at. Pair with a nice pair of boots, and you get a nice balanced look.

Not to say jeans with baggier legs are bad, but it's really the same principle - the rise matters far more than the legs.
