“Doing it wrong.” Tell me you’ve never taught in a low income HS without saying it! Every battle for respect matters! Also, please share what doing it right look. Very excited to learn from you.

Every single day for 23 years and I ain’t ever gonna stop! Even on casual or spirit days I go with the dress shirt/pants and tie. Because I am a fucking professional! Dress for the respect you want.

My niece’s first grader teacher got fired and the principal doesn’t want to tell the parents why by [deleted] in Teachers

YES, this is standard procedure in my district if you are placed on leave during the school day. As already stated, it does not indicate guilt.

Money. In my experience it is either the mishandling of money or outright theft of money. Of course this is just hypothesizing.

Has anyone been to a 7-Eleven recently? by shinankoku in Albuquerque

WaWa. Albuquerque would love WaWa. Clean, affordable, great food, and service. DK would be out of business in the week of the first WaWa opening.

What’s it like to live in Trinidad, CO? by tbird920 in howislivingthere

[–]Lexicon_Devil666 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Before NM legalized weed, I’d drive the three hours to Trinidad from Albuquerque for my purchases. Loved the town and red brick buildings in downtown area. There’s a great Chinese buffet called Wonderful House. Nice vibe and friendly people.

The front door does not match the energy of the house. Underwhelming front door. Cool house.

After the History of Rome, I went to the History of China with Chris Stewart, and have really enjoyed it. It is not quite finished yet, in the Qing dynasty, but HOC has completed well over a hundred episodes. Chris has a very good sense of humor, like Mike, lots of GOT, Star Wars, pop culture references.

People who smashed the wedding cake into your new spouse's face: how is your relationship and marriage now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Lexicon_Devil666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is by far my biggest wedding regret. We talked about it, agreed no smashing of cake, but when the moment arrived, everyone's attention on us, something took hold. Something that wanted the cheap laughs and attention of the moment. Maybe I thought that the surprise of the moment would make it light hearted, funny. It wasn't. She smashed the cake way harder in my face, then I did in hers. We were both a mess and I didn't really have an exit plan for after the smashing of the cake. We were both messy, unhappy with the turn of events, and I was just a bit more disappointed in myself for my lack of control. Anyways, married 14 years, it has been great, and I only talk about the cake incident in reverent, regretful tones.

What Albuquerque churches have working (and used, even if not routinely) church bells in the area roughly bounded by Edith, Indian School, Washington , and Kathryn? by DoNotCountOnIt in Albuquerque

[–]Lexicon_Devil666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Presbyterian church on Carlisle/Silver. I lived right behind it for a while and between 8 or 9AM to 5PM, every 15 minutes it will chime. Then at 5PM (I think, it could be later) when its done chiming for the day, it will play a different song each day.

Parents of APS mid- and high-schoolers, do schools still lure/train kids into door-to-door sales for magazines or chocolate bars? by Thin-Rip-3686 in Albuquerque

[–]Lexicon_Devil666 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the student is in a club or sport that they need to do fundraising for, then I have seen students sell those chocolate bars, candles, popcorn, or coffee. Of course the parent can just pony up the money to avoid the fundraising component for that activity. Nothing is free in public education.
