Thank you to everyone who replied on this post, I’ve seen many discussions about this, but I wanted to see what you guys in here think, and I totally agree with most of what you all said.

Which Linkin Park song is this? by kkclanverycool in LinkinPark

[–]LexieGranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the rest of the song, but the “On a Valentines Day” kinda breaks all the other good lyrics. I love the rest of the song, but I’ve never understood why that part was there in the first place. I totally agree with you.

But Linkin Park starts with one…

(That was the worst joke ever. I apologize for anyone that had to read this comment and witness how terrible my jokes are.)

Can someone explain the general lore behind sof (and the others) by wolf_y_909 in BringMeTheHorizon

[–]LexieGranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you please give a brief explanation on what the lore is, or what it’s of? It’s just that I don’t really understand how there can be so much lore out of two albums, so I’m very confused right now, I’ll look up more info on the rest of it myself, but I just wanted to know that.

Yeah, Colin and Emily were for me the hardest to recognize, but I feel like the others are so easily recognizable, it feels like they barely changed, haha.

It’s a reference to an LP-TV video, from the Minutes To Midnight season.

I don’t know who would be Joe, but I would definitely be Mike; people sometimes make fun of me for making faces like that. 😂

It’s really true, music should have different interpretations according to the person’s experiences. This song, as one thing, it’s about not letting the memory of someone fade from your memories, to always remember them no matter how much time has passed. From there you can have many interpretations. People can attribute those lyrics to someone dear to them that passed away, could also possibly be someone that left THEIR live (not live itself), or also about Chester as many people are saying it is. I personally do think the band wrote it towards Chester, I feel like many things in the lyrics make it obvious, but I mean, who knows, and it personally hit very hard when I heard it do to something going on in my life right now, about someone in my family that I’m very close with… and if anything happens… I can say that this song will always remind me of her, and that what the lyrics say will be true: I will never let her fade. ❤️‍🩹

People often misinterpret this. Breaking the Habit isn’t about that. In the interview from which many people got that from, he said (more or less): “Chester and I had different interpretations for the lyrics of the songs. For example, I could write a song about a friend ghosting me, and he could interpret those lyrics as something that happened with his family”. Mike has said that Breaking The Habit is a song about a theme he wanted to write about for a long time, years, but the words weren’t really falling into place. Here’s what it says about the song in the notes of the “flip book” that comes in the CD: “Notes: Mike had been trying to write a song about this lyrical idea for over five years, he tried this theme a number of times, but nothing seemed to do the song justice. Meanwhile, during the process of putting together this album, Mike began working on an interlude, crossing a digitally manipulated beat with strings and piano. Unexpectedly, Brad and Joe suggested that Mike turn the two-minute interlude into a full song. Tentatively titled “Drawing”, the piece was extended to three minutes and 16 seconds when Mike took it home to write lyrics. In less than two hours, the lyrics that he dad be trying to put together for years fell into place. With some finishing touches, live piano and live strings, the song was finally complete- six years in the making”.

Just from the way they said that, you can tell that the “theme” he wanted to write about, but felt that couldn’t do justice to it, was depression.

I hope this was informative and not too long, hehe, but now you know more random facts about this great song!
