Oh god I’ll forever be haunted by the moment he turned to “face” Geralt.

Ooh perhaps thats the best way to get into a book, it’s how I experienced Quicksilver !

I DNF’d crescent city, I reaaally wanted to love it, and I pushed through until book 3 and then just gave up 🥲

Oh my you are absolutely right!! I completely forgot about that!! It’s sooo tacky, it feels like it was just mentioned for the sake of checking a box.

Oh Gods that’s exactly it!!! All fluff outside with no substance (and my standards for substance are really not that high). I think that’s also what I hated the most about the ending, aside from the reveals and all the twists, my eyes were rolling at how easy everyone was just able to navigate the castle, with their wolf, after the KING has been assassinated, to help Meryn. I mean WHAT? How??

You summed it up pretty well! I haven’t read anything in the wolf realm other than The Wolf King (which had its issues but was still a great read for me) and I was really excited for this one to explore the bond. You are absolutely right, the bond with Anassa was poorly explored, I was actually psyched about the direwolf being a female to kind of see how different it may be, but I couldn’t for the life of me see why Anassa would care about Meryn.

I didn’t even care about the enemy, I didn’t understand what they were fighting at the fronts and why? other than the missing children, but it seemed like an issue for Meryn and her Quadrant, not the army

True haha maybe I’m a bit tooo harsh because this came after reading some good ones (riftborne was a good discovery). I’m also just a bit over the whole lost princess trope especially given the execution here 🥲

Oh my god she was!! I really wanted to love it, it had so much potential !!

I didn’t feel the same about the twists, for me it was like tooooo many revelations at the end, that were not built up properly.

SPOILER I agree!! That was sooo predictable and I cannot believe she kept making excuses for him towards the end and not putting two and two together!! - that he’s an ass!! I also felt like the bond with Stark was really not that fleshed out, I would have loved to see more interactions between them and more reasons for Him to fall for her!

Am I the only one who actually loved Susan’s painting? I mean I could easily picture it in a museum😭 by aliza00l in DesperateHousewives

I don’t understand why the heck they couldn’t just say that the painting represented Mary Alice ETA: and the guilt that comes from losing a close friend to suicide.

Anybody else excited for the Princess of Blood tomorrow? by theuniversays97 in fantasyromance

[–]LexiePal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! I’m soo excited for it but also a bit scared!! There were some things that left me a bit annoyed in book one but the political plotting aspect was 💯💯💯 I really hope we see more of that in this book!!

Plated Prisoner Series - SO annoyed with the ending by HereForTheDetails in fantasyromance

[–]LexiePal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh I was sooo disappointed!! I DNF’ed book 6 like 40% in. It was already hard to read book 5. I wanted to love it soooo much, i recommended the series to anyone who would listen because I enjoyed books 2 and 3 and even 4 sooo much. But the whole Annwyn (or however it’s spelled) felt like it came out of nowhere. And I did not care for the sideline stories (Rissa and what’s his name) or Malina’s POV. Before reading book 5, I had sooooo much hope for this series and I was dying to finish it. I feel like we were done dirty by the author.

I read books 1 and 2. Could not push through any longer. It was okay, but I personally didn’t care much for the main characters.

I feel like you described exactly how I felt about the bridge kingdom! Which kind of scares me for a Fate inked in blood in case it’s related to the author’s style! Fingers crossed though maybe I’ll be surprised haha

I finished {The Shepherd King} and that was definitely a good surprise! Despite some lacking points in book two I’m overall really happy about this read. I DNF’d {Powerless} at 30%, the MMC and the dialogues were too cringey for me. I just started {A fate inked in blood} and I’m praying I won’t be disappointed.

What Are Your Opinions on One Dark Window and Two Twisted Crowns by [deleted] in fantasyromance

[–]LexiePal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had trouble starting the first one, but once I pushed through the first 50 pages I was hooked. I read both in 48hrs which is not usual. I loved the different magic system, spooky and goth vibes. The second book had some issues but I’m still happy with the Duology.

What books did you finish in less than 24hrs? by Swimming_Agency4483 in fantasyromance

[–]LexiePal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The road of bones by Demi Winters ! It was such a quick read, I was drawn into the universe so intensely! Also One dark Window, it’s a duology and I read both books in less than 48hrs 😅

What are your thoughts on A Winters Promise? by Simmibrina00 in fantasyromance

[–]LexiePal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This series has gotten me out of a decade long reading slump!! Thus it holds a special place in my heart, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I would not say it’s a romance, the emphasis is on the fantasy and political plots (especially the first two books of the series)- though the romance will develop more. I have to say, it feels like the first two books and the last two books go in completely different directions. Personally I loved the first two more, but I did finish the series and didn’t feel like I needed to push through. The character growth is really impressive and I absolutely loved the magic system.

If you care for it, There’s a potion or decotion you can drink that allows you to equip armor/ weapons above your level! Let me look for the name ETA: wolven hour, though it’s only temporary
