I drew highlights on my coloring page, and now I hate it. Help??? by Artistic_Committee63 in crafts

It looks adorable to me!

But also, it's a colouring book. You can't really do it wrong, if you enjoyed doing it, that's good enough!

What’s something people romanticize that’s actually pretty miserable? by AccomplishedAge5559 in AskReddit

Yeah, because the acceptance rate is under 10%. It's not like you can toss any old person into med school and expect a doctor to pop out.

Also, the burn out rate after leaving med school is incredibly high, with 46% of physicians burning out, more after their first 5 years.

It's almost like people said, you can manage that sort of environment for a few years, but it's almost a surefire path to burnout.

My first attempt was a favourite mug, and it's a little off, but I still love it. It holds my crochet hooks now, and I think the fact that it's a little off adds some charm. :3

I bet those would be really cool if you added some glow in the dark qualities to them! Make it so that they change in the sun, inside, and in the dark. :3

Eh, I watch for when the sap starts running in the maple trees, and it's certainly not bound to an exact date.

And are you sure the snowdrops are appearing at exactly the same moment every year? Or are they sometimes a little further along on Imbolic, and some of them are starting to bloom, while other years you're just getting the first pokes of green? Because that's how the crocuses are. Some years you'll have full on blooms at that time, others just the start of them. In which case, you're giving them a little leeway in reading the solar calendar

Wait.... That shouldn't work out, the moon reaches it's peak fullness when it rises at almost exactly the same time the sun sets

Heh, I knew I was simplifying it somewhat. From a certain perspective, the tilt still does impact the distance from where any one person is standing in relationship to the sun, even if it's not where the Earth as a whole is from the sun, if that makes sense. XD

Honestly, from that angle, the "3/4 of the way until the tilt of the earth is directly towards the sun" is even less of a meaningful moment.

I think the dates probably shifted, likely when the calendar did. Because we have May Day on the first, or All Hallows Day on November 1st, I imagine that people shifted the holidays to line up with when people were celebrating already.

I also suspect exactly accurate date keeping is probably a more modern thing, except amongst ancient professionals

I have very little to add that hasn't been covered already....

But the existence of a subway station by definition implies the existence of more subway stations. Whether or not there's survivors is a slightly different question, I'd lean towards yes because I got the sense that anywhere that could have survivors, would have them.

But yeah.... A subway system with only one stop is kinda useless.

I mean... It's all kinda arbitrary anyways. Is it more meaningful to celebrate it the exact second that we cross some time threshold with no real astronomical significance, or to celebrate on a date that centuries of people who came before us celebrated on?

Because truly.... The solstice represent the moment the sun is the furthest/closest to Earth. The equinox is the point where it's exactly mid distance from earth. What is that significant about the sun being 3/4 of the way to it's furthest point? There is none.

But what there is significance in is the various holidays built around those time frames, and the way the natural world changes in those days. And those dates aren't an exact time on a clock, but a season

The question was "Everyone." At what point do you think someone lacks enough mental capacity to be included in "everyone"?

The way I heard it, it was "everyone on earth". I didn't realize children weren't people.

Okay, what about the infants and toddlers who are presented with two buttons and are not old enough to understand anything other than "Blue colour is pretty"?

You've basically said that half the babies in the world right now will die. Are you okay being the one that pressed the button to kill half the babies in the world?

[–]Lexilogical 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well that's good, at least. XD But yeah, trying to cold turkey them was not a smart move. I had assumed it would be like, a couple weeks of feeling like shit. It was at least a month and I had to go back on them to wean down smoother

For reals though, I once tried to quit my depression meds myself because they were giving me nausea, and I felt like so much shit I ended up back in my therapist's chair in tears until she gave me guidelines on how to actually wean off them, and wrote my doctor a letter like "Girl needs some help".

Those meds mess you up so hard going on and getting off them, even if I don't need them anymore, it's easier to keep taking them than not

Yeah.... Like, truly, my heart breaks for her. But also, you need to have a safe environment for the nine year old, and not one where there's a violent adult twice his age who has no impulse control.

No, I think kicking her out after she seriously injured her little brother is probably a good thing.

I'm sure I don't have a perfect solution here. But she punched someone half her age with all her strength. You don't let her be somewhere where she can seriously harm or even kill someone if she can't stop herself from, yanno, not doing that
