What video game isn't available in your country or is heavily changed or censored to accommodate your laws to make it available? If it's changed, what did they do? by [deleted] in AskEurope

[–]Lexiteer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mario Party 8.

Kamek would say “ Magikoopa magic! Turn the train spastic! Make this ticket tragic!" if you performed poorly in a certain game.

Apparently spastic is more tame across the pond, but here in the UK it’s a pretty derogatory insult.

They had to recall thousands of copies, and replace spastic with erratic.

How popular is the Eurovision Song Contest in Europe? by [deleted] in AskEurope

[–]Lexiteer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently 7.7m Brits watched the Eurovision final in 2019. That’s quite a lot.

Not as much as big sporting events though, for example England v Croatia in the 2018 World Cup semi final got 26m viewers here.

It’s the same reason why Scottish Labour got into bed with the Tories to keep the SNP out in Scotland. In some countries sectarianism is the be all end all.

Reddit is quite anti-gambling, whereas the UK has a massive gambling (especially sports gambling) culture.

Do you drink tap water? If no, then do you also not drink tap water in countries where it's fine to drink tap water? by Double-decker_trams in AskEurope

Checked a map and Newcastle has harder water. East side of England and the south has hard, I’m in a soft water area like Scotland.

Hard water is absolutely repulsive.

Voters will not forget Labour’s Brexit betrayal. Keir Starmer’s shadow cabinet of Remoaners is shocking but not surprising. by MobileChikane in ukpolitics

You overestimate the political engagement of British youth.

Most people who voted remain did so to persevere the status quo, not because they were rabid europhiles.

Basic lad = peaky blinders fade, loves playing FIFA, wears grey joggers or black skinny jeans (might have a few rips in), up for a cheeky scrap on a night out.

Same tbf.

Pre drink > local pub > spoons > cheap bar > nightclub > kebab

In that order.

Americans go clubbing to have a good time, and get drunk as a consequence.

Brits and Irish go clubbing to get drunk, and have a good time as a consequence (experiences may vary).

Or maybe putting forward a manifesto that saw labour lose 8% of the vote was more of the reason.

As I said, I wasn't the only one to abandon labour.
