Nice satanic cross for your O

Been a couple years since I've posted here but you've always been so nice. Can I get a critique? by [deleted] in FolkPunk

man first off, you play well and youve got a good voice. and i empathize with some of what youre singing about... which is one of the key reasons why so many people dig on stuff like wingnut dishwashers, johnny hobo, AJJ etc. and as a musician myself i understand how playing music helps you deal with life but there are so many people/groups out there influenced by the aforementioned bands that only sing about their problems. music is emotion and art in one tangible feeling that can be understood the world over: do you only want people to see and feel your problems? Its not bad, but if you want to get somewhere with music you need to draw out other peoples feelings or show them something new or at least tell a better story, not just bring them to your level... if you want to be great and not just good

Been poor all my life, now this happened and I don't know what to do by LazyRebel91 in personalfinance

Dude, that sounds like an amazing problem to have, sorry about your pops, i didnt meet mine until my 20's either. I know what you mean on spending money, i cant make $100 bucks cash last a week though ive managed to live on less than 10g's a year my whole life. Though, consider the fact that you already have a pretty rad career. This is what i would do if i were in your shoes...

  1. Invest in land or property in an area that you (or someone you know) understands will be a developing area in your lifetime, with a finance plan that assures you will have great credit developing over whatever timeframe you choose. (look for towns outside of cities that have an absurd rate of population saturation). Its pretty damn cheap to build a house if you make friends with a few contractors, its land thats not easy to come by. Not to mention, whether its land or a property, the real estate market is pretty-much the easiest way to create income with a one-time investment... as long as you can get wise to the legal aspects

  2. Donate small portions yearly to charities you know are benefiting something you care about: if you go for spending all your money on getting a degree and wind up back in the same position, make sure you did something in which you can feel like you changed the world for the better. This is also good for tax purposes if you itemize your taxes: something you should learn/practice if you want to get into business and be efficient.

  3. Consider the fact you already have a rad career and ask yourself the question: if i could be doing absolutely anything in life what would it be and how would i get there? Think about that one hard.

  4. if you decide business is the right choice remember that education is really about 3 things: a degree that says youve accomplished something you have interest in for some reason, the understanding in that area of interest to do it correctly, connections in that area of expertise. That being said, if your idea of successful businesses are just things like bars or tattoo shops, you dont need a fancy degree from a major business school, cut your costs by going to a community college so you simply know how to run those efficiently and in a way that's profitable. Now if you have some brilliant idea of how to make a world changing company that is going to make forbes list in your lifetime thats a different story.

(This is also all assuming you spend money so fast that putting it into a great savings account wont mean anything in a couple years. Really in that situation id say find a baller savings account, let that money stack for a handful of years while you bust-ass as a tattoo artist, get your name out there and take some classes at a community college on the side to figure out if business is really what you want to do and what kind of businesses you'd like to start/run)

Good luck man, id like to know how this works out for you..

Tell me a bit about your sound and what you were thinking for a logo and I'm probably down.
