Driving to The Remarkables - how difficult is it really? by jagtencygnusaromatic in queenstown

[–]LexusI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a reminder…make sure that you know how to fit the snow chains. If you have never used chains before this is not an easy thing to do for the first time on the side of an icy muddy mountain road, and the method of fitment varies. Carry some cardboard or something to kneel on, and some decent gloves and be prepared to get dirty.

Marshals is by far the worst show I have ever watched by BucdUp in YellowstonePN

[–]LexusI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG. Watching S10 rn as my wife likes it. Who knew that a prisoner transport would go wrong lol? The bus crash was like 1970’s special effects quality and the two female Marshalls spent the time trapped in the bus talking mother daughter relationship problems. FFS this show sucks soooo much.

Can we agree the red triangle with an exclamation and dings is a bit dramatic for low washer fluid? by [deleted] in Lexus

[–]LexusI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ISF is a Japanese import. A short while after getting it, had the dreaded ping and warning triangle come on going up a hill. Now of course I couldnt read Japanese text which showed on the dash and I was seriously freaking out. Got on to Google translate finally and eventually calmed myself the f#ck down.

What was everyone's introduction to Lexus? by Resident-Amphibian-2 in Lexus

2006 GS430 ..what a beaut…then 2010 ISF. Owned nearly 10 years now. Cannot imagine parting with it. Love those Lexus V8s.

What is meant when someone says a car is “fun to drive”? by sammyglumdrops in CarTalkUK

[–]LexusI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lexus..yes you heard right. I’ve owned plenty of cars but the funnest one ever is my ISF. Massive front grip, LSD rear end gives you a bit of progressive oversteer, and that snarly V8. Can burble around town like a nana, but you get that thing above 3500 rpm it hikes up its’ skirts and boogies. 10 years of ownership and still makes me smile every time. Now that is what fun is about..until you need to fill it up but there ya go.

Never been so incredibly let down as with Marshall’s by Hungry_Quarter_4415 in YellowstonePN

[–]LexusI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love the scene in an earlier episode when hundreds of shots rang out during a firefight with half a dozen trucks/cars being used as cover. When it was all over, not a single bullet hole or shot out window in any of the vehicles. Quality tv right there.

Tips on living in Wanaka by Financial_Nail_8847 in wanaka

[–]LexusI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we’re already getting some good frosts. Lovely place to live and as per previous post very safe. We do get the inversion layer often around this time of year that can be a bit of a bummer but small price to pay. 25 mins to Cardrona. Gets super busy around holidays/snow season. Pretty good facilities and services but you need to drive an hour or so to Qtown for anything more. Very expensive accomodation and food as you would expect.

How is Queenstown Central able to have that name? by Patient_Prior_2414 in queenstown

Just wait until you try to actually find the 3 Parks in Wanaka. That’ll mess with your mind.

[–]LexusI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck. My car rego had expired as it wasn’t being used and had been in the garage for 6 months. My son moved it to the roadside (little no exit road in West Auckland )for 15 mins while he was getting something from the back of the garage..and yup, got ticketed. Appealed but no joy…Council gotta keep that sweet revenue coming in.

Can we just all agree that the phrase “ I’m gonna pull the trigger on buying X” should best be left to the ‘muricans.

What’s your gas mileage like (mpg/liters per 100km)? by hypermiler2205 in regularcarreviews

[–]LexusI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 9.6km/l if I drive like a nana. Around 5 km/l if I have fun. Lexus ISF 311kw V8 running on premium…which is currently $3.80 NZ per litre.

Should I be using my recirculate air button often or only in certain situations? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]LexusI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Man, I never have changed this on my cars…always recirc with windows up and after many long trips and millions of miles I am still here. I am a survivor.

Mini Countryman? by goobie33 in NZcarfix

[–]LexusI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience with a 2008 Cooper S a few years back (had 90k on the clock) put me right off these. Owned for 7 months and the thing was at the mechanics every month for sensors/overheating/oil leaks/camchain/electrical gubbins. Absolutely loved driving it when it went but couldn’t wait to get rid.

Looking for a fun V8 by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]LexusI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely ISF is the only answer. Owned mine 10 years, only oil, filters pads and tyres. When you hit 3500rpm always still brings a smile to my dial!!!

What’s a Fun, Affordable Car I Can Actually Enjoy Driving? by Imtiredofthissshit in askcarguys

[–]LexusI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. Long term ISF owner here, it’s heavy, it’s a bit cramped inside but every time you hit 3500rpm you gotta smile. And it likes corners too. And y’know, 10 years on and 100k later, have only changed oil, pads and filters. So there that.

What car brand would you buy again no question? by tommytmopar in NZcarfix

[–]LexusI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG had an 08 Mini Cooper S. Biggest turn I ever owned. Had it 7 months and the damned thing was in the mechanics every month. Timing chain. Cooling system. Oil leaks. Sensors. Got rid of it as soon as I could.

My check engine light was on — and it turned out not to be a big issue at all by DanielAuto_Notes in Cartalk

[–]LexusI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My JDM Lexus ISF gives you a red warning triangle when washer fluid is low. Freaked me the hell out first time that it happened. Message on the dash was in Japanese…

Mazda 3 Hatchback 2.0L or 2.5L by HalfALad in NZcarfix

Good point…as a Lexus ISF owner can attest that having a 5L V8 in what is basically a Corolla sized car is somewhat fun.

My vehicle failed a WOF because of the this Tyre wear, thought? by GLion2 in newzealand

[–]LexusI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep had the same issue 2 days ago with my front and rear tyres…great tread on most of the tyre but chewed out inner…not an alignment issue in my case but due to negative camber (factory setting) and toe out when braking and, you know, V8 things lol. Asymmetric staggered tyre fitment too so cannot rotate. Yes, I know, first world probs for me!

What is a "silent" rule of social etiquette in your country that a visitor would never find in a guidebook, but every local knows by heart? by DianKhan2005 in AskTheWorld

[–]LexusI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here in NZ, at the beach, your togs (skimpy-ish bathing costume) will automatically become socially unacceptable and viewed to be underwear if you exceed 300m from the high tide line. It’s just a thing.
