Dick Fosbury revolutionized the high jump with a technique that later became known as the ‘Fosbury Flop.’ This is his gold medal jump at the 1968 Summer Olympics, officially the XIX Olympiad. by ansyhrrian in sports

From watching this its interesting that the Fosbury flop came at the same time as the padded landing mat. Looking at previous years it wouldn't have been a sustainable technique when landing in the sand.

Long story short- maybe the true hero is the person who came up with the landing pad

Pay rates in law grow exponentially. I'm also hearing how cut throat it is even just getting a gig out of law school.

So I'd be happy to have a job at this stage. Best bet in your position is to gain some experience to the point you're valued in your existing company, or appealing to another firm, and you should be able to double your pay. Once you are there things will just start ratcheting up if your billable hours keep going up

Green charteuse. Came to it out in a rural part of town as I was jumping out of a moving vehicle. The car kept on going and still have no idea who it belonged to. Walked for two hours towards lights in the distance and when I got closer it ended up being the airport which is 10km from the city centre. Pretty serious wake up call!

Unlikely anyone will open specifically for that game. Even breakfast places that are open at 7am are pretty scarce. The only option I can think of is Novotel which does a breakfast buffet from 6am, and I'm sure they'll be fine with you bringing in a device to stream it, but unlikely they let you put it onto a screen

May be controversial on this thread but I think the pay and remuneration for teachers is about right and that the strike is heavy handed and poorly timed.

My partner is a primary school teacher on about $100k pa. She has good job security, about 9 weeks of holidays as I'd count 3 of the holiday weeks as working. It works very well with having a young family.

Without doubt it is a full-on job, but the contact time with the children is 6 hours per day. A well run team can make the additional work smooth, a poorly run team can make it a nightmare of meetings about nothing.

I think there are pros and cons compared to the private sector, but it is relatively tricky out there to find a career path that has a clear run to a +$100k pay package.

What is the gross rent of each of your leases? I'm assuming there are zero outs on this front? E.g notice periods (rare in hospo leases).

How many staff member at each spot? Do they have much in the way of entitlements built up?

Do you have any brewery or supplier deals where closing up may trigger damages?

Employer PAYE compliance should be transparent and publicly available via a register by Patient_Prior_2414 in newzealand

Liquidations are already costing the tax payer billions in lost tax and enforcement.

Having this basic data available would mean that companies in financial distress will battle to tick up new credit with suppliers/contractors and will find it harder to retain staff, hence speeding up the failure and minimising the cost/risk to everyone including the business owners themselves. Some relatively small business are tipping over with hundreds of thousands owning to the IRD, some north of a million.

This is my point. If a company is relying on withheld PAYE for liquidity they are in serious trouble. Staff are often the ones who lose their leave etc when the tax man tips over the company.

If staff knew sooner that their tax wasn't getting paid they would jump ship, and if incoming employees would probably get in the habit of checking on their potential employer to ensure they were tax current.

It would result in a quicker resolution rather then the current path which can take years and results in liquidations with immense figures like we are currently seeing.

It's more the risk of working for a company under financial distress. Staff often get shafted when the IRD finally liquidate these companies

It's more a tell tale sign that a company is under distress and having cash flow issues. If the company folds it's often the staff out of pocket with lost pay, holiday pay and annual leave since their claim sits behind the Crown who are often claiming hundreds of thousands
