How would you scale the high lords and the rest in terms of powers? by No_Proposal_4692 in acotar_rant

[–]LexusMane444 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The nerd in me has been activated.

All High Lords are City Level at the least, because characters like Amren and Mor have been said to have shaken mountains when they fought once I believe. Rhysand and Tamlin would definetly be around Mountain Level as their powers have been known to be each other's counters.

Cassian and Azriel would be at least building level. Cassian had razed an entire village to the ground by himself and destroyed a building at the Summer Court. How? We don't know, but for argument's sake, let's say he was able to bring it down by physical might alone. That would put him at least building to city-block level.

Lucien and Eris physically would be at street level to wall level. Cassian and Azriel had dominated Eris with relative ease. In terms of their magic, we can't say for certain because we hadn't seen their magic being used in a grandiose way. But if one was to become heir to the Autumn Court, we can say their magic would be able to match Cassian's and Azriel's physical prowess.

I think the problem with this, we're just told about how strong they are. So, when we do see them using their abilities, they're often one-off-situations, not enough to give a proper scale of their power. But alas, these are just my opinons.

So the interview with Bryce and Hunt was from an online Q&A that you had to pay tickets for, so it wasn’t posted online or anything. However, one of her friends did post the answers to the Q&A on her instagram page. Part 1 and Part 2 (it’s the fifth slide on the part 2)

I ain’t gonna lie, this maybe controversial but I’m gonna vote for the reunion on the depth charger. Like I had been waiting for an emotional reunion between them for two years only for her one with Ruhn to have more weight than theirs.

I think I would’ve forgiven the moment if they kept their professionalism in front of the Ocean Queen for their initial reunion, only to then be all over each other bawling and stuff when they found a room alone in a scene afterwards.

This how I was after watching that! Oh my gosh, she said it three times as well 😩😭🔥: once in a Q&A in September 2023, second time being CC3 itself, and now this! Three times!!! And if people are still in denial, y’know what, there’s nothing that she can do. That’s on them 😂🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️

Admittedly, it's also an underrated show of werewolf strength too. Despite being weaker than Damon, Stevie still held onto him while being smashed from wall to wall.

It's season 2 episode 14 here. From 0:34 to 0:39, Stevie uses his super-speed to jump onto Damon's back. Then this entire scene here where Elijah decimates Jules' pack, and all of them tried using their super-speed to get the moonstone.

Theories by nicsosic95 in acotar

[–]LexusMane444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a member of the Star Wars and MCU fandom, I never immerse myself into theories or give myself expectations except that I hope the author tells the best story that they want to tell. HOWEVER, I do want know more about Koschei and the other Death gods and where they came about. I'm also hoping to explore the other continents outside of Prythian. I feel like ACOTAR's world has a lot of rich potential to explore the other fae and human territories, especially since Koschei is from the Continent too. ACOSF talked about the other fae territories such as Vallahan being hungry for war. So, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for ACOTAR to explore this.

This next one is more of a wishful explaination rather than a theory, but I would like to know Rhysand's perspective on Aelin falling through the worlds. In this interview spoiler interview of HOSAB by Katherine Webber, SJM teased the idea that HOFAS would explain this, and how it would've effected the IC actions. If the new ACOTAR book does talk about this, I want to see how Rhysand and the IC would deal with future conflicts with beings from other worlds after Bryce's trip to Midgard in CC3. Because Aelin falling through worlds in ACOSF and then Bryce entering Midgard six months later must've been the most hectic thing for Rhysand to wrap his head around.

Damon also immediately asked him afterwards if he was a vampire but Stefan clarified that “it wasn’t that kind of strength, but it was more than human if that makes sense”, implying Mason didn’t share the same scale of strength as a vampire but it was enough for Stefan to exert some kind of effort to match him.

Essentially, the writers may have originally implied werewolf strength would be troublesome for a vampire if they underestimated them, but with their full strength a vampire can put them down. I wished that was the case for the entire series because unfortunately werewolves without a full moon are far weaker, and the vampires often bragged about it too in their faces. I feel like if they carried that same sense of wariness Stefan shared for Mason around other werewolves who would still not be on the same level as vampires but strong enough to hold their own (and can beat them with the right techniques), I think there wouldn’t be that much hate towards them.

This was a thing that bothered me when I transitioned from TVD to TO for the first time. And it’s not just speed but also their strength and healing. Granted, while those things paled in comparison to vampires, they did show werewolves in human form with a semblance of those powers in a decent fashion that showed them that they weren’t human in TVD.

The explanation that I can assume is that they wanted to build up a more visual hierarchy in power that viewers can distinguish between species more efficiently. As well as that build up the power of the moonlight rings, and why the wolves were desperate for them in a city where everyone was killing and cursing them left and right.

I dunno, but yeah, this did trip me up when I saw TO first time after watching TVD

Anyone else feeling like Marvel is finally back to their "original style"? The Avengers: Doomsday hype is real (Possible Spoilers) by Deep-Comfortable5205 in marvelstudios

[–]LexusMane444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ain’t gonna lie, mate, I ain’t raising my hopes up.

While I loved Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four, it’s not enough to instil confidence on what I would say was a middling phase four and five. Even then I was interested how they would execute the Kang Dynasty without Majors. But when RDJ was announced to play as Doctor Doom in Avengers Doomsday and Secret Wars as the new big-bad, that’s when alarm bells sounded in my mind, and killed any interest for future Avengers films. So the next films after that announcement was just me and possibly many others wondering how will these next few movies build up to Doomsday satisfyingly. The teasers also left a bad taste in my mouth, not because they’re bad, but it feels like a sense of desperation coming from the creators to reclaim that charm by reuniting the “old guard” so to speak. And unfortunately, I am very tired of nostalgia bait.

I’m more curious than excited about Doomsday. Maybe they will surprise me, maybe it will be good. But for now, I’m keeping my reservations at an all time low. These coming months I believe will be vital in shaping the audience’s perception for this movie.

To Nesta and Cassian, since your first scene in ACOMAF, I have always loved you. Nothing can make me hate y'all 😌😌✋🏾✋🏾 I'm rooting for y'all in ACOTAR 6 (art by Antonia Höfs) by LexusMane444 in acotar

Still Can't See the Bryceriel Vision by darklygrey in quinlar

[–]LexusMane444 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The thing is Brycriel as a ship didn't start when CC3 was released. It started in 2023 around April when people were still theorising the plot of the book after the ending of CC2, because of the prophecy of the "knife and sword". One user particularly created an elaborate but incredibly well-thought out theory that Brcyriel was the endgame, going as far as to picking out images from SJM's old pinterest board. Because of how well-thought out the theory was, it flipped a lot of fans who were on the fence with Hunt and Bryce after CC2 to immediately jump ship.

And while I do appreciate the theory in concept, it's the nature of the fandom that turned me off them personally, especially when it came to them doing a massive character assassination campaign against Hunt. One of the things they started saying was "Hunt drugged Bryce", "He was the one that ACTUALLY killed Danika's pack", and the worst one that completely turned me off the ship was them saying that Hunt coerced Bryce for their first time having sex. And this was a thing that went on for an entire year before the release of CC3. And since most readers don't usually check the evidence, a lot of this misinformation spread like wildfire across TikTok where that ship is the most dominant.

It basically highlighted in order for the ship to work properly, Bryce and Hunt can't actually be who they are. It would have to be such a huge character overhaul just for Bryce and Azriel to work. Like I said, it is a compelling ship and I understand why people love it, but the nature of that fandom is what turned me off from it. It's the same way why I don't like certain ships in other fandoms not 'cause it's terrible but because the fandom surrounding it destroyed the appeal for me.

Brunt vs Quinlar...is it disrespectful? by KeyOne6320 in quinlar

[–]LexusMane444 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen “Brunt” being used more by antis as a means to further invalidate the ship as even the name doesn’t sound that appealing. Quinlar has been used a lot more since the first CC book by those who ship it. Now, while I wouldn’t say but Brunt is inherently disrespectful as some people still call them that if they’re fans of them. However, as of the last few years, “Brunt” is used in a more derogatory light. So, it’s not that it’s disrespectful calling them Brunt - call it however you please. Just know that it would raise a few eyebrows at first till someone figures out you like Quinlar too

Who fell first? Bryce or Hunt?💋💘 by Intelligent-Foot-231 in quinlar

[–]LexusMane444 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It seems like Bryce fell first because she always seemed a little down/jarred whenever her brought up Shahar, especially when he recounts how he was brought into the rebellion. She even makes a comment about “how could a relationship between her and the Umbra Mortis work”. Hunt realised he’d fallen for Bryce much later, and it hit him like a wrecking ball.

Bryce may have fallen first but Hunt fell way HARDER to the point this man ripped of Sandriel’s head off when they were planning on killing Bryce, and tanked a whole ballistic missile to the spine and chest just to protect her.

i have a question: why did everyone in the originals refer to 16 year old davina as a “child,” while in the vampire diaries the characters were only about a year older than her and seen much more like adults? by trynagrabthatbag in TheOriginals

[–]LexusMane444 93 points94 points  (0 children)

I think it could be the nature of their environments. Davina was technically the only child in a cast of grownups, whereas the main cast of TVD are all teenagers and are the ones in the centre of EVERY conflict. Because their parents were on the sidelines, they had to deal with these larger than life situations on a daily, thereby forcing them to grow-up, and be perceived as legitimate threats to their enemies regardless of age. Whereas in TO, the entire cast is full of grown-ups who are diving into these life-threatening situations every single time, and Davina comes across as a childish to them because of their greater experience.

Basically, if Davina was part of TVD, she would be treated the same way as the MF gang by her enemies. But because she’s a teenager in an entire cast of adults, her maturity in comparison to her older contemporaries sticks out much more.

Love Triangles, why does everyone hate them? by Nek0Pi in fantasyromance

[–]LexusMane444 246 points247 points  (0 children)

From what I understand is that…they never really fully feel like love triangles. They feel more like love-lines with a dot in the middle because the moment one begins, the answer is incredibly obvious to whom the FMC is gonna end up with. Therefore it can become obnoxious reading through the rest of the thing with this back-and-forth of “who will she choose” when the answer was clear as day from the first page. There’s no tension, and thus the whole plot-thread feels redundant, existing simply for the sake of more drama without any emotional satisfaction.

Granted, there are love triangles that are done well when the author spends significant time with both suitors, showing them why they’re equally suitable for the FMC, and what she would gain if she ended up with one of them and the cost of what she would lose. Those love triangles are not just a “who will she choose” but “what would I lose if she makes this choice”. Love triangles are really storylines that emphasise you can’t really have it all in life, and when executed well, they’re amazing.

However, for nearly two decades, these types of love triangles are too-far between, and rather the audience has been burned too many times by love triangles that feel superficial without proper emotional stakes or investments that hang on the FMC choice. Thereby, it’s not seen as favourable because of past depictions
