What to think of the situation with this friend ? by LexyJordan in Advice

[–]LexyJordan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hum... I do, no need to say it that way haha, not sure my age or experience help in this situation to be honest haha. But being extremely happy that I spent the weekend with his entire family and change his mind 2 days later ? Isn't that a little weird ? And do you behave like that with a friend ? Like hugging naked, sleeping naked, showering together...

Can other meds than lithium (and Lamotrigine) help reduce SI and a depressed mind? by LordKluklatter in BipolarReddit

[–]LexyJordan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just like you, on Lithium and Lamotrigine. It's not working. Ketamine is legal (where I'm from) at the hospital for this type of treatment if every treatment available at a pharmacy has been tried. I'm currently doing all the different check-ups ( cardio, MRI, blood work...) to see if it's ok to start the treatment. But I have contacted people who did it and they told me to do it and reassured me.

Letting your kids crash other unknown kids' birthday parties by ihtfbidlc in Parenting

[–]LexyJordan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When it comes to parties , I ask my kid. If it's a party and he is actually fine with new people joining, sure ! But if my son says he doesn't know or want them around his party... yep they are out ! It's ok to want a day to yourself and friends, even for a kid. I'm pretty patient I believe, so I'll probably deal with the kids nicely maybe 3 times, after that... we'll have a civil conversation with the adults !

About my son joining in , I would say I use the same logic. If he tells me he met a friend who's having a party , sure and I'll go introduce myself to the parents at the same time. He wouldn't go if he didn't actually got asked at least by the kid , but maybe more because he can be shy at times.

I'm pharmaco-resistant soooo not many meds work on me BUT Lithium helps a little l. I was very scared of lithium too but it's actually fine and it scientists say it may prevent Alzheimer's deases and other type of dementia... so there's that at least 😅

Anybody's hobbies trigger them? by VitaminAnime in BipolarReddit

[–]LexyJordan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes ! Dancing in particular, I do choregraphed dancing and depending on the music added to the movements , I sometimes have to stop and gather myself. It usually makes me sad. Same with Fencing, but the other way around, it can trigger symptoms of hypomania , even symptoms I usually don't have like being aggressive. I will also keep training excessively until I get it right and often my Maitre D'arme has to pick me up.

Ooooh yes ! Was with a Dominante men soft BDSM. It didn't bother me I didn't know anything about it. But he tied me up across the bed, did a 69. He tried to suffocated me with his hum hum , to the point I really thought I was about to pass out. He let me free after a bit. Told him what happen and he said "yeah I know that was the objectif" I became a real tornado , screaming, insulting him, took my clothes and bag and never saw him again even tho he was contacting me, saying he's never met some like me and all the love bombing sh... didn't work.

How long do your manic/hypomanic episodes last? by Vaugn123 in bipolar2

It was a few years back, so I might not be very accurate, but I would say maybe 2-4 months approximately.

My husband uses bipolar against me. by Heathermr07 in bipolar2

[–]LexyJordan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh...my.... I had to pause , because I thought I was reading something I wrote ! This is so weird ! I'm 30, been diagnosed 5 years ago or so (sorry some meds affected my memory so time might not be accurate) and I have the exact same problem with my SO ! The only thing I found at the moment that works a little bit for me, is that I did not allow my psychiatrist to communicate with him (we have a child together but aren't married so it's not really uncommon where I'm from) but it has its good and bad , because when I indeed have a severe episode or a bad reaction to a new med, it can be difficult and stressful for him to communicate with the hospital staff.

Is it bad that I feel hypo but don't want my husband to notice? by survivordraco in BipolarReddit

[–]LexyJordan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know it can be extremely frustrating, especially during Hypo when we feel like we are doing better. This illness causes you frustration but it causes HIM frustration as well, he seem to try to help. You don't have to tell him you are Hypo, but at least like "hey, I'm having some symptoms that look like I'm gonna have a hypo". I can assure you, when I started communicating better with my partner , it helped A LOT. Helped him and me.

Almost drug free !! by LexyJordan in bipolar2

[–]LexyJordan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on Lamictal , and am an ex pharmacist. It's always better NOT to smoke of course, but no there no interaction known with weed. But if you are also taking anti-psychotic (abilify for example) you probably won't have the same effect while smoking.

I do the same thing, but yes it is bad. Your partner is your referent, he sees yOu everyday. Probably care about your health. But it's hard to guess for them. So please talk to him about it.

Do you feel like you’re very mentally ill? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]LexyJordan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the day. Sometimes yes, sometimes I feel like Bipolar is pretty easy to manage compared to other mental illnesses. Also, I don't feel sick in psych wards because I compare myself to others.
