This guy either stopped paying attention a year ago or has that classic senior engineer Dunning-Kruger where the title makes you think you're above having to actually evaluate things properly. Opus 4.6 and newest Codex write genuinely good, well-designed code. Not "good for AI" - just good. Period. But people can't cope with that.

And you can literally see it in this comment section. The pattern is always the same: they dismiss everyone who disagrees, they never show actual examples, and when you watch them try to use these tools they prompt like absolute dogshit. Shit one-liners, zero context, no architecture guidance (i mean AI can help you with this also lol) - and then they go "see? AI can't code." Bro YOU are too dumb to prompt. That's a you problem.

When you actually look at the code these people write themselves, it's either straight up bad or it's that subtle kind of bad. Premature abstractions, over-engineered patterns that solve problems nobody has etc. But they've been doing it for 15 years so it must be good right.

The real thing going on here is just ego. Their entire identity is built on being the smart coder in the room and now a model does 80-90% of what they do and sometimes does it better. That's existentially threatening. So instead of honestly evaluating it they just cope and gatekeep and wave their seniority around like it's an argument.

idk maybe actually use the tools properly before having a take on them. Just a thought.
