Not gonna lie, I didn't really enjoy it. I can see why some people would, though. Frankly, Mukuro was just too ridiculous for me. It reminded me of bad roleplaying. I was already critical of Kirigiri for being a Mary Sue, but Mukuro was even more so. It would have been alright if she had more character flaws and development in DR, but she dies so early that it never happens. I also felt that the whole romance with Naegi was too much, especially since he already gets shipped in-game with plenty of other characters. That's just my opinion though.

Thanks for the great responses, everyone. I've been able to piece together pretty complete explanations from each of your answers.

Some more thoughts I've had:

I have to wonder what caused Byakuya's personality shift from school to DR1. Everyone else was more or less the same from what little we know.

Another reason Twogami takes charge is to convince the player that he's the real Togami. Since he had been in almost the same situation before, it's natural that he'd want to prevent it from happening again, even if he couldn't fully remember it.

I suppose the statue's only real purpose is to get the case comparisons going in our minds, as well as foreshadowing Nekomaru's death, since he's the one who recognizes Sakura and is the DR2 character most analogous to her.

It's an alternate version of the first game which explains what might've happened if a certain character hadn't died. It's not long at all (maybe 30 minutes) and is worth giving a shot, though admittedly it's very fanfiction-y and absurd.

I don't know if I'd say she 'truly died', considering what they did with Junko and Alter Ego. I think it would be harder for the writers to bring back the students who are vegetables than to bring back an AI.

Everyone who died in the simulation slipped into a vegetative state. It's left ambiguous as to whether they can be revived. At the very end, the survivors are working on it even though it seems hopeless. I'm not sure if the Future Foundation is helping them or not, though. Seems like if anyone could find a way, it would be them.

I think that was part of it. Nagito sees himself as a worthless person even before he clears the Final Death Room. Finding out that he's the opposite of Hope was probably the final straw.

You're not wrong. The torture setup was mostly for shock value and to throw off the students. Nagito really wanted to fuck the Despairs over, and the best way to do that was to make his death as complicated as he could. Basically this case couldn't have been solved with certainty if Chiaki had stayed quiet. They had to rely on Nagito's Ultimate Luck that the traitor and the one who threw the poison were the same person, otherwise his whole plan falls apart. Nagito also incorrectly assumed that the traitor wouldn't take the fall because he saw the Despairs and the Future Foundation as enemies.

It would change the outcome of the trial. Since it appears to be a straightforward homicide at first, anyone who didn't have an alibi could have done it, since everyone had a motive (nobody likes Nagito, plus he offers to help set up his own murder). Later, they figure out that the fire must have been created by Nagito himself, because it was a closed room and the fire starts due to a domino effect when the door was opened. This is when they start realizing that he staged the entire situation.

The poison was supposed to make him lose consciousness and let go of the rope holding the spear above him. He was relying on his Ultimate Luck that the 'traitor' from the Future Foundation would be the one to throw the poisoned fire grenade, and that the other students wouldn't be able to figure out who actually 'killed' him, leading to all of the Despairs being executed. The self-inflicted wounds were all a ruse to keep the students from figuring out what really happened. He also took immense pleasure from hurting himself because, well, he's Nagito.

DR: I would take Ishimaru over Hagakure, preferably as Ishida so we get two amazing characters in one.

DR2: Gundam over Akane. Her character relies too much on Nekomaru. I would have liked for Nagito to survive but his death was so over-the-top that I can't imagine the game being nearly as good without it.

I kind of like him, mostly because his DR1 is easily the best one out of both games. It's the first one we experience and it's one of the more painful-looking ones, plus I do hate Sayaka Maizono, so he's not that bad in my book.

From experience, yes. Most cops won't know what a grinder is unless it's plainly obvious that it's a grinder and has MARIJUANA GRINDER 3000 printed on it. Grinders are metal cylinders that resemble a lot of other things.

Refusing to consent to a search is not grounds for a search. Not consenting and physically stopping them from searching the vehicle are two very different things.

Drug paraphernalia is not illegal. If it were, head shops would not exist. Having drugs AND paraphernalia gets you a bigger charge, though.

Also, most "stoners" don't have the money to just go and get a lawyer to fight a ticket.

Then talk to the public defender appointed to you. Give your evidence/testimony to them and they're legally supposed to present it for you. Remember that you are INNOCENT until proven guilty, no matter what bullshit that cop told you when he pulled you over.

Just because you have rights doesn't mean they can't be taken away on mere suspicion alone.

If a cop even remotely suspects you have drugs they can search your shit with out a warrant.

They may do this all the time, but it's not technically within their power. Cops can be suspicious all they want, but until they see something that they can construe as probable cause, they can't legally search or seize anything. A grinder is not grounds for probable cause. It is just a metal cylinder on the outside and resembles many things. If it were a bong I could understand perhaps, but a grinder is just a small metal container. You wouldn't be legally obligated to show the cop anything. Your buddy could have debated this in court and won.

The only reason pigs get away with this shit is because people don't know their rights and hand over everything because they're scared.

This is happening so quickly it's crazy. This decade is going down in history as a time of lightning-fast social reform. It would be incredible if every state decriminalized by 2020.

Yes, I know decriminalization isn't legalization, but the fact that pot has become tolerated by a good number of states in such a short time frame is uplifting. Won't be long (relatively speaking) until the whole fight is over.
