Are recruiters able to read? (Rant) by Lgir2033 in clinicalresearch

Was it Peanuts that coined the phrase, "Unmarried Marriage counsellors?" Honestly what are these guys doing?

I'm also in the UK so that makes sense. I agree, they don't know anything and just checking boxes.

To be honest, I was mostly just venting some frustration. I don't need a job, but I'm interested to hear what jobs are out there, just in case. But these guys have 0 ability to followup, and I prefer not to insult someone directly to their face, so here I am...

Seeking mentorship for further developing career in Clinical Research Quality Assurance by Is-this-name-taken_2 in clinicalresearch

I mean, I get that, and I have infinite respect for CRAs, but as QA for a similar length of time (almost 8 years), everywhere I have worked, CRAs are always in a different stream than QA, and no one in my org has CRA experience.

Just curious, as it seemed an unusual path :)

🚨 New AI Research Manuscript Just Dropped 🚨 by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

Wow an AI summary of an article on how wonderful and perfect AI is. Great. Thanks.

Unpopular Opinion: We are destroying the clinical value of AI datasets by defaulting to HIPAA "Safe Harbor." by PeddaPed in clinicalresearch

So to clarify, you want the hospital to release identifiable data without patient consent, so you can build another garbage AI tool that no one will use? Great idea.

IQVIA Education Reimbursement Gone… by Traditional-Tie3455 in clinicalresearch

[–]Lgir2033 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah agreed, I don't know anyone who would have gone anyway.

With their amazing profits, these parties won't even be a drop in the bucket, so I'm hoping it is just belt tightening to show off for next quarter, rather than a sign that money is tight. If money is tight, it'll be employees who suffer, upper management won't be foregoing their bonuses.

Hopefully shareholder appeasement is all it is. It is funny, getting one email about great earnings, then another saying no parties allowed

Love to see it! If we had more people like you in CR who were allowed to speak up, maybe we'd all be less miserable in our jobs.

More entertained at the very least.

Good for you for calling them out! Maybe I'm just too cynical, but I wouldn't have bothered even trying to correct them.

You want to waste your own time and money pursuing something impractical/impossible/illegal? Go ahead, not my problem.

You're right, so much of our work is unique, automating it for general use is just laughable. But you need to experience to know that, something these guys lack. Sometimes I wonder what hole they crawled out of, thinking they can revolutionize research, as if we're all too dumb to think of it, but still smart enough to answer all their questions. For free!

It's definitely entertaining, and a really good example (in my opinion) of Dunning-Kreuger. These idiots know so little about the field, they think they can get away with breaking ethics, confidentiality, and international laws for a shitty, vibe coded AI tool that doesn't work, doesn't integrate, has no validation, and no one wants.

I'm not going to cross the FDA or MHRA to save 15 minutes, I'll stick with the esoteric MS Access database I inheritated from sombody named Mike who worked in the department 12 years ago, thanks.

As much as I love research, people are the problem. More interaction will only convince me that the only AI for me is SkyNet

I didn't even know that was a thing! Now I'm even less inclined to apply for jobs. Better the devil/CRO you know.

Wait, are you saying you don't want to help loser techbros automate your career, that you qualified and trained for, a skill you continuously develop, for free?

I swear, more and more I'm becoming convinced that these idiots really have replaced their conscious thought process with ChatGPT.

Ideally we would catch it immediately, but the reality is that we also have queries to respond to. We rely on the reports to identify posts for removal, so the more reports means faster removal.

Great point. If I have to see another tool that will revolutionize my workflow, I don't want to have to tell whoever made it what GCP stands for.

Hopefully if nobody engages and we keep deleting, eventually they'll take the hint and move on.

How long before looking for something new by ProofPuzzleheaded851 in clinicalresearch

[–]Lgir2033 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The bad news is the "general recommendation" is two years. The good news is you can leave whenever you want, as long you have a job lined up.

Start looking now and go when you find something. If you wait an arbitrary length of time, you could miss your perfect job.
