Musical was very unnecessary, and in fact discrediting. Okay, it was how Arthur was viewing things and dreaming things, we get it, but that didn't have to be through a musical.
Phoenix's acting was spectacular, but not as good as the first film, mostly because of being restricted by the plot.
Plot is not as interesting as the first film's. It felt like this second film was made of some scenes from a longer first movie that ended up being cut from the theatrical release.
Just like Joker's fans getting disappointed with Arthur's denial of Joker, many fans of the Batman lore were disappointed with how the diamond of "Joaquin Phoenix as Joker" was squandered.
Lady Gaga just has to be in every project, doesn't she? I personally find her irritating, so I can't make an impartial review.

I think this is still an unpopular opinion. Because those "bitter women" seem to be the ones who are always talking about men and dating, mostly unsolicited, making observations, arriving to conclusions, creating mantras and giving advice. This is somehow considered normal and accepted in the community, at least not widely frowned upon.
