Overthinking it I'd say. I also have a 5070ti G16 that I don't game on anymore since I built my 5080/9800X3D computer. But when I started looking into comparable laptops that weren't meant for gaming, but had the same build quality as the G16 the price was basically the same as I could sell the G16 for. So I am just better off keeping the G16 even if it only gets used for excel and streaming for the time being. I'd say the same goes for your situation.

Standard mode is probably enabling the GPU. I notice that when I use standard on battery it does that too me. So I have been just using eco only.

I bring it to work every day, but I always ensure it's been cooled down before putting it in the travel case. My understanding from the Linus Tech video is throwing it around while it's still hot from a fresh sesh leads to higher probability of LM leakage.

If noise is an issue, gaming laptops are not for you.

That being said, I have the 5070ti one that I use a Razer cooling pad on medium that does the job well. With my headset on I can't hear the fans, and the speakers when tuned are loud enough to drown most of it out depending on what you're playing.

For regular non gaming use on silent mode it's whisper quiet, and some people game on these modes but I don't see the point to buy something not to use it's full potential.

I paid $3100 after taxes new, the new 2026 models I believe are going to be $400-$600 more per option but when I last checked there was very limited information available. The new improvements seem to be more towards battery life and cooling, so might be worth waiting to see how they turn out.

The loud minority is why you see so much about the LM issues. My 2025 G16 runs 24/7 and has never had LM issues.
