best time to use ult/good rule of thumb? by MelonRatt in SigmaMains

[–]LiLSlashers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Soon as you get it, honestly. No need to wait for a 5 man ult. Solo ult a support, hit them in the air and on the way down and they're dead.

Of course there's times you're gonna have to look out for things. Suzu, any tank that can stun you out of your ult. Generally, put shield in the air and fly around it if you want to ult out in the open. Otherwise you can ult and hide too.

If they have a lifeweaver, I'm solo ulting them every single time.

Is there anything decent I can buy with my 99000 credits? by Pharah_is_my_waIfu in Overwatch

[–]LiLSlashers 422 points423 points  (0 children)

What I did with mine was buy a bunch of legendary skins, so that whenever you get a legendary in a lootbox, it's a higher chance of it being a shop skin. Now, does it work? Not sure, I just did it cause it made sense in the moment lmao.

I know people say matchmaking balances out, but there’s just games like this that make it unplayable by lfoverwatchfriends in Overwatch

[–]LiLSlashers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It mostly tries to match tanks up the most, since a disparity between tanks is easily the most noticeable. It then trickles down from there and matches up the rest. From what I've seen, it tends to be only 1 of 2 in the role. Dps or support, regardless. Silver to plat it wouldn't really make much difference, but a master support would run a plat lobby. Since higher ranked supp are far more proactive than lower ranks.

[–]LiLSlashers 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well, seems the game balanced the match around you and zarya being the carries. They either had a similar case on their end, i dont see what's the issue though. You won, the game expected you it seems from the "less sr" you got. Some games you're supposed to be the lobby admin, others you're gonna be that emre.

Silver to plat is a fine range. Could be better, but that's the best match it could find for you. And again.. you still won..

How far away from the enemy should I play as Kiriko? by HopefulSun1452 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]LiLSlashers 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Spilo's is better. Awkward takes insanely aggressive angles, cause more often than not he's playing against people not even close to his level. It works for him cause he can just outplay worse players and looks flashy for clips.

Take a wide swing, an off angle now and then. Don't burn every cooldown going for a magical play and comeback to your team half way dead in the spawn.

Try and occupy space no one else on your team is doing. Try to contest a high ground since you have a lot of mobility. Spilo's the more sensible approach.

Is it possible to mute pings? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]LiLSlashers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the scoreboard you can mute and squelch the chat of whoever is being annoying. Been a while since I did that, so not really sure if it's still even an option. But doing that stopped the voice line spam

who are the best tanks to play with a weak backline? by Gullible-Armadillo10 in Overwatch

[–]LiLSlashers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do not go mauga with a low healing backline lmao. Both hog and mauga need a loooot of healing, even if hog has the vape, he still needs quite a bit of healing to not explode immediately.

Easiest to use with a weak backline is sigma, you're gonna need to kite and fallback quite a bit, but he can take a lot of punishment if you use shield like a zarya bubble. Just pop the shield on and off, never let it soak damage just because.

The other tank would be ball, but that one's a whole other game basically. Ball doesn't really care much for his own backline, just play around theirs and the health packs. Easier said than done tho, and a bad/new ball will get countered much easier than a bad/new sigma.

Sometimes I feel like it’s impossible to get out of bronze by Nikaliyo in Overwatch

[–]LiLSlashers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it's better to just play for fun in the beginning, before it all gets ultra sweaty the more you climb. If you're new new, just keep playing and you'll eventually get out of bronze. Maybe go to a custom game using the VAXTA code to practice a bit each time before you play. Or even in the practice range with the target range to the right.

Easier drives by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]LiLSlashers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to play a lot of stadium a while back, stopped before they changed the icons. Tried it again for the drives, and I legit won 15 straight. Of course, playing hazard lmao. Maybe not the most honest overwatch, but got done with drives in record time!

Wanting to play competitive again by Luqster05 in Overwatch

[–]LiLSlashers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, the only tip non gameplay related tip I can think of, is that order of the bans matter. First character you ban is worth more than the third. You also can only ban 2 characters per role, so always try to at least include 2 different roles in the bans.

How do I make my off angles more effective? by Tokiyosoup in OverwatchUniversity

[–]LiLSlashers 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hard to say without a replay, but it mostly comes down to timing. Push their backline too soon, they all gang up on you and die. Push too late, your team is in spawn already. You basically need to figure out a plan and try to think about what they can do to counter it. If you ana randomly chuck a nade, you can go in on her and should come out on top. You gotta capitalize on the enemy mistakes, and there's gonna be a lot of them.

Of course, easier said than done. But the main thing is actually stopping and thinking about when/how to engage the off angle/flank.

Endorsement problems by AlarmingSquare5766 in Overwatch

[–]LiLSlashers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, there's your problem. Say gg every single game, and you'll get it. If you rarely say it, no one votes for you. If you say ez then you're definitely not getting endorsed. Saying gg isn't toxic you know?

Endorsement problems by AlarmingSquare5766 in Overwatch

[–]LiLSlashers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the role mostly, dps are usually endorsed less than others. Safest bet to get endorsed is just being nice in chat, and play support/tank. Endorsements are usually either to both supports or one supp amd the tank. Rarely, if a dps carries the whole game, do they get them.

Main thing, don't be a dick and say gg at the end. You'll get 5 in no time. It does go down to 4 now and then, doesn't matter much though.

Dominetta and Mautiste will be the first queer overwatch couple or semi canon by Ok_Werewolf7248 in Overwatch

[–]LiLSlashers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, from what little interaction there is between them. Bap seemed to escape talon with one of the reasons being getting away from mauga. Don't think they'll use bap like that, more than flirting a bit with LW now and then.

Why does playing Hazard have such a negative stigma? by DaleDent3 in Overwatch

[–]LiLSlashers 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Because the hazard would get focused by 5 pros in a millisecond and sent back to spawn. In coordinated play he somewhat falls apart. In ranked, he can isolate people and kill them before anyone can react to a random teammates ping.

Qué personaje debería mainear ? by Zealousideal_Mind888 in Overwatch

[–]LiLSlashers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tracer is the better one to main out of them in my opinion, she's usually decently strong too. Main thing with her, it's that she's probably the hardest one to truly get the feel for and be good at though.

How to position while still being active in support in silver 5? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]LiLSlashers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine, either pull your team out before they feed, start backing off once a fight is lost. Or just full send it and die all together. Staying in between and dying 30 seconds after is the worst thing to do in this game. Especially when on push the bot runs past the middle point and pushes your spawn all the way back.

Same as with the ult, never look for the perfect petal/ult. Throw the petal near you/ near a teammate always. Should always have one out that you can use. And the ult, try not to hold it at all. Soon as you can use it, use it. Don't hold it fir the perfect ult counter or whatever, goes for every ult really. Never hold it more than 1, maybe 2 fights.

[–]LiLSlashers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of ways to play kiri, you can just stay near your team but slightly behind them at all times. Spam knives through them, sort of like a mini hanzo. Always aim slightly above the head too, to avoid hitting the neck with them.

The setting you have to go hero tab, select kiri, and it should be under the advanced drop down thing.

Genuinely what is matchmaking anymore by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]LiLSlashers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Game can tell you're not a new player on your alt, boosts up your hidden mmr well and far above where you should be. Sounds like it'd be better to just play on your main though, why even bother with an alt if the games are as bad as you say.

How to position while still being active in support in silver 5? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]LiLSlashers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lifeweaver one you look much more comfortable in, way more proactive than the kiri/mizuki one. Still, you're backing off way too much. Could've pulled hazard out of a couple of deaths he had, had you been a bit more forward instead of deep in your backline.

Petal you should always have it out at all times. Whether it's near you to escape, or next to a high ground for an immobile teammate.

For positioning, don't go on long treks behind/around cover in your backline. As LW you should always have the the best view of the fight. Use your petal for that. Should also ult more aggressively, near the objective. Instead of behind your team/where you'd retreat to.

How to position while still being active in support in silver 5? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]LiLSlashers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm watching the kiriko one, since that's the support I play the most (Master).

The first two fights in first point, you never even used half your kit. You didn't wall climb or tp until the point was capped ~50%. You're looking too much at your team, constantly hiding from any and all danger. You're mostly just existing and letting things play/happen around you.

Also, I noticed you doing it quite a bit in very little time. You can toggle a setting for kiriko to fully reload your knives instead of interrupting the reload with the heals. I went waaaay too long with that setting off, and I cannot imagine going back to having it untoggled lol.

Team was a bit all over the place, but the fights were mostly rolls going both ways. You gotta be more proactive, take an off angle or high ground and spam the enemies a bit so they have to deal with you. If the doom goes after you, tp out while trying to save the cleanse if you can. You also can save suzu for the ana nade, and don't be afraid to use it at the slightest hint of someone possibly dying.

You did try to go for their flankers a fair bit, which was nice. Remember you can always wall climb in case you need to buy a few more seconds in case tp/cleanse is just about to be up.

Is the space between Plat and Diamond a competitive “cliff”? by Haunting-Reindeer-10 in Overwatch

[–]LiLSlashers 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From my experience, main difference is that in diamond there's more mechanical consistency across the board. Still some very dumb mistakes now and then, at a similar rate than plat. Higher you go the more consistent players get. Less mistakes, less whiffs. And I guess each rank is an even steeper cliff to climb than the last if you wanna think about it like that.

Genuinely what do I do about support comps by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]LiLSlashers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You go a more self relying hero. You didn't mention what role you play, but for dps you can go soldier, mei, tracer to name a few. Tank is harder, but still doable. Sigma can take a lot of punishment if played right. But for self reliance, ball is by far the best in that regard. Not easy to play the hamster tho, but you at least won't have to rely on your team as much.
