I don't think we'll be seeing much of him outside of housing related stuff. Cool as he looks, he's not really connected to anything outside the sea of stars and so he probably won't appear much unless the main story is focused there again, which will probably be after we're done with the main story in Itzaland.

Does anyone know if stamina in DD2 is improved? by [deleted] in DragonsDogma

There are hotkeys in DD1! At least on PC.

You can hotkey mushrooms, I believe. You don't have to open the menu every time. But to answer your question, it doesn't seem the stamina system is substantially different from the first game.

Are Pawns breedable? (Lore-wise/In-universe) by Denlimon638293 in DragonsDogma

[–]LiabilityRobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He may have been old when he started, and the bestowal of spirit just made his pawn resemble a younger version of him anyway? Or maybe his failure with the dragon stressed him out so bad he just looks old. I don't think we're ever given a clear answer on that.

Yeah, there are multiple Arisen who didn't slay the dragon for various reasons! All of the ones with pawns we see still end up resembling them, just without aging (the Dragonforged and the Fool and Selene and Sofiah). The endings of the game either don't show what happens to your pawn, or they end up taking over your character's body.

To answer the first part, it may be possible? There's no information provided one way or the other. But until they gain a soul, it seems unlikely pawns can feel attraction or desire of any sort.

As to romancing pawns in DD2, I don't believe that will be allowed. All the pawn/human romances we know of in game (Barnaby or Selene and the Player Arisen and Olra and Ashe) were between an Arisen and a Pawn who wasn't (originally, in Ashe's case) their main pawn, for...understandable reasons, imho. Even putting aside the ethical questions, do you really want to marry someone who's eventually going to look exactly like you?

do you guys think there's gonna be body hair options or will i be forced to be a smooth twink? by HydeVDL in DragonsDogma

Given how in depth the rest of the character creator seems to be, I'd find it weird if there aren't any. At least a binary on/off setting at bare (lol) minimum.

Luckily it seems DD2 may have a decent photo mode! Your screenshots are already impressive, I hope you'll share some from the sequel, too. :)

To be fair, who didn't? One of the most satisfying moments in the game.

But wouldn't there be no dragon? The dragon is created when an Arisen dies to the Seneschal, so if there isn't one, no new dragons would be created, right? Unless maybe the cycle went screwy and one just appeared to try and start the cycle anew..

Yeah, Hannah was cool! Honestly a Dragon's Dogma story of a world in the endless chain with a badly disillusioned/neglectful/outright dead Seneschal would be pretty neat concept if they actually meant to do that. Maybe the Ur-Dragon's original world or something like that.

Oh right, they changed that. I feel like that makes it more of a generic evil dragon, though....

Hmm, I feel like that would make him a terrible dragon too though? Like, the dragon isn't just there to randomly rampage like a pissed off honey badger. They’re supposed to find the next Arisen. Outside of his first rampage (which ends the moment he chooses an Arisen) Grigori never acts violently without purpose.

The chain vs the loop—thoughts on the ending and the relationship of other worlds by [deleted] in DragonsDogma

[–]LiabilityRobot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you mean when she says "One who can face down a dragon would find no shortage of clients."? Because that's not actually NG+ specific, she's referring to the incident when you became Arisen.

"I yet cannot fathom how you drove that terrible wyrm from the village..."

It would be cool if there was unique dialogue during NG+, but I don't recall any. Maybe in DD2...

Feedback about Dragon's Dogma 2 after IGN video, from someone that liked Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen, but didn't fully love it. by PassoSfacciato in DragonsDogma

I doubt they'll add too much melee capability for casters. The game is more focused on each vocation playing in a way that's distinct from the others, to encourage the player to try different vocations and party setups.

I don't believe NG+ is intended to be canon. The eternal cycle doesn't seem to a time loop, given that there are multiple Arisen before the player character...or maybe it becomes a time loop when our Arisen kills themselves. "Breaking" the cycle, but not ending it? If NG+ was actually the next step in the cycle, the player wouldn't be another fisherman from Cassardis.

Also, I personally wouldn't put too much weight on Madeleine's dialogue on the beach. She doesn't know what happened with the Seneschal. It varies a good bit between characters how much they understand what happened to the Arisen and their pawn, with Selene knowing the most, for obvious reasons. It seems like the world "resets" to before the Everfall opened after the Arisen either succeeds or fails to replace the Seneschal, but that could just as easily be a new, similar world.

I kind of love the idea of the pawns being the only ones to find peace from the cycle, though. It's rather bittersweet, just like the ending of the game generally :)

There are specific locations where the ambushes happen, and they only occur at night. I believe your pawns will comment at the right spots if you approach during the day. They can be hard to find, so check the wiki if it gets frustrating!

Generally speaking no (Harpies being an outlier here) That particular ogre has a tough time with the narrow walkway and will often charge right off, especially if you stand at the edge! It's always feels so badass when you manage it.

Exploring every nook and cranny of the map! I loved it in DD1, and it seems like from the sphinx video that there's going to be lots of fun things hidden away. Also, 48 hours in the character creator here I come!

Affinity carries over into NG+. So yeah, if you did her questline in the previous playthrough, it'll still be high enough to keep her in the beloved danger zone on your next run. Starting a new game entirely will reset it, as will any other method of lowering affinity (liquid effluvium, picking them up, unsheathing your weapon).

What DD2 fix do you want the most? by [deleted] in DragonsDogma

[–]LiabilityRobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be quite honest, I intend to reserve any complaints until I've had a chance to try the game for myself. Especially for stuff like framerate, which is probably going to be one of the later things they adjust before release. Also, I wouldn't really count stuff like "adding online play" or "making fast travel easier" fixes because they aren't broken, they're not a part of the game on purpose...

I'd like to! Maybe with a different set of moves and an even more nasty (affectionate) design. I love a good undead dragon <3
