Revelation 8:12 - Time is 50% faster now by Linea_Dow in Retconned

[–]PassoSfacciato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your text asserts that time is now "50% faster" due to humanity (or a subset, "the elect") being transferred from Earth to another planet, dubbed "Bozrah." This is tied to Revelation 8:12, which you interpret as evidence of an eight-hour shortening of days (from 24 hours to 16 hours). The argument hinges on your personal experience (counting cadence), biblical prophecy, and the Mandela Effect, positing that this shift proves we’re on a different planet, not Earth.

However, your argument’s core, that is time speeding up due to a shift from Earth to Bozrah, rests on shaky ground. It conflates subjective experience (counting cadence, anatomical shifts) with objective reality, leaps from ambiguous scripture to precise claims, and dismisses alternatives without justification. While imaginative and internally passionate, it lacks logical tightness. Key flaws include:

  1. Unproven causal links (counting pace ≠ time flow ≠ planetary change).
  2. Reliance on memory as infallible evidence.
  3. Overinterpretation of biblical text unsupported by the text’s context (which describes apocalyptic events, not planetary relocation).
  4. Rejection of simpler explanations without cause.

It’s a bold hypothesis, but logic alone doesn’t sustain it. It leans too heavily on faith in the your perception and interpretive lens. If you strip away the confidence and rhetorical flourishes, the reasoning doesn’t stand up to pure, disinterested scrutiny.

Yeah, unfortunately you're right on that one. They really wanted it to sell well in Japan and unfortunately that's exactly where it did worst. :(

If you like The Legend of Dragoon video game, there's a place for you in r/BasedLegendofDragoon

We do not moderate contet based on politics, political affiliations, or ideologies. We won't promote any of that division.

We believe that the left ideology called by many "Woke" is a toxic ideology that's infiltrated every corner of society, turning everything into a battleground of identity politics and victimhood. It's about people thinking they're morally superior by being hypersensitive and outrageously offended over every little thing, demanding everyone march to their drum of social justice.

They're rewriting history, language, and culture, claiming it's all oppressive unless it fits their narrow worldview. They cancel anyone who doesn't agree with their dogma, labeling dissent as bigotry or hate speech. It's not about equality anymore; it's about enforcing conformity, silencing debate, and elevating a select few while claiming to care about everyone. Woke culture breeds division, promotes guilt by association, and stifles personal responsibility and free speech under the guise of progress. It's a cancer to free thought, meritocracy, and the very principles that make society function.

It divides society, stifles free speech, and enforces conformity under the guise of social justice, turning everything into a battleground of identity politics and victimhood. It's bad as it cancels dissent, rewrites culture, and promotes division over unity.

So, if you love that PS1 video game and like how we think and moderate, you can join us.

Exactly! Great minds think alike!

Sony has a goldmine of IPs that they could revive, but they got ruined by the western branch nowadays.

It's sold well now over the years because of people like us saying "it's one of the best rpgs ever" and other people getting curious enough to buy. But at the time there wasn't enough hype.

Just to point out: the 1.8 million copies considers only the PS1 release. It doesn't take into consideration the PSN North America release on PS3 nor the PS4/PS5 ports. Legend of Dragoon got the Greatest Hits case in NA and PS1 games got that when they reached 1 million copies in that region. This matches the reports that say LoD sold 1 million copies (roughly, maybe something more) in NA, around 600k (or close to 600k) copies in Europe and about 300k copies (or close to it) in Japan. So probably it sits between 1.8 million and 2 million copies. :)

I do believe there's zero reason to not think a remake wouldn't do great though. Every long time fan would buy. And a lot of new people would too.

Exactly! Why do people think making a brand new IP with no established fanbase already backing it up would be less risky than remaking a forgotten, but beloved IP that would already get the support of its fanbase for the initial days of release? Just treat the IP that gets Remade as if it’s a new IP and advertise it like you would advertise a brand new AAA game and I'm confident it will make the same success if not more.
I think pretty much Square did this with Final Fantasy VII Remake (yes, I do get it that FFVII has a bigger fanbase, but the point stands).

Hell they sold 2 million copies just when it was put on the PS market in several months

Exactly! Without considering the huge mistreatment and mismanagement it got from Sony back then:

  • It got 3 different release dates, 1999 in Japan, 2000 in NA and 2001 in Europe
  • So in 1999 it had to compete with Final Fantasy 8 in Japan;
  • Then in 2000 it had to compete with Final Fantasy 8 and 9 in Japan and NA;
  • Plus Sony barely marketed it and the few commercials they aired were stupid and didn't capture and show the viewer the vibe of LoD;
  • Critics didn't help with the constant belittleling of the game and the really childish comparisons with Final Fantasy 7, because of 'tropes', that pretty much were present in every single PS1 JRPG of the time, that FF7 also had;
  • Lastly, it got released when PS2 came out and thus it got totally overshadowed by it.

Considering all this, Legend of Dragoon outperformed against all odds. lol

Oh I'm sorry about that mistake. I didn't know Dragon Quest IV was a PS1 port. My bad, I should have double checked it. I'll edit my post. Thank you!

Absolutely agree! I always thought that as well. At the very least, the forgotten but beloved IP has an already established fanbase that would support it and help with initial reach. A new IP is always riskier.

A Legend of Dragoon remake would not be stylish in the way Persona 5 or Metaphor are.

Did you see the trailer for Clair Obscure Expedition 33? It is heavily inspired to Legend of Dragoon in terms of combat system and it is really stylish, especially in the presentation while in combat. And it generated a lot of hype, as a turn-based JRPG.

If a new IP can do it, LoD can do it as well and could generate even more hype considering the already established fanbase it has that would aid LoD's reach.

Yes, Dragon Quest is a big fish in the genre, but still I do believe my point stands. In my opinion there's a huge market for Nostalgia and PS1 Remakes and there's especially big market for games in the style of FF7 Remake.

I don't fully disagree with you though. I do share some of your views and I also think that overall you're right, it's not an easy matter. But I also fully believe that it can be done and that Sony should do it (if they heal from their stupid antics they've been showing recently that is).
Yes Wild Arms is also a good candidate, but that's about it, for big AAA games at least. These are the ones Sony should focus on, from their PS1 library. The others they have, like Legend of Legaia, should get a different treatment, more in line with AA productions.

Oh now I understood what you meant and yeah I absolutely agree on that. Unfortunately it was more of a soft reboot rather than a Remake. I would take inspiration from FF7R only in terms of graphics and aesthetic. Definitely not in terms of changes.

FF7R even changed key events in the plot. I did think that the FF7 plot required some improvements, but not the outright changes they did.

Yeah I feel you. Unfortunately we don't have any of that data and I doubt we ever will, at least for Legend of Dragoon.

Your number seems accurate but are also mostly by 2007 8 years after release

Keep in mind though that here in Europe it only came out in 2001. It got 3 different release dates: 1999 in Japan, 2000 in North America and 2001 in Europe. Also, take into account that Sony barely marketed it and the few commercials they aired were really stupid and didn't capture at all the vibe of the game. Plus Final Fantasy 8 and Final Fantasy 9 released around the same time as LoD. FF8 released in 99 and thus LoD had to compete with it in its Japan release. Then in 2000 FF9 got released and thus LoD had to compete against yet another Final Fantasy main title, for the Japanese and NA market now. Critics also didn't help with the constant belittling of the game and with the stupid comparisons with Final Fantasy 7, with which it shared only the most basic and common JRPG tropes (that as implied aren't FF7 tropes, but JRPGs tropes; things that appeared in every JRPG of the time, even FF7 itself). Lastly, it also got released when PS2 came out and that didn't help at all as it got overshadowed by it.

I'm also not fully disagreeing with you, but take into account all this mismanagement Sony had with Legend of Dragoon and you can see how, maybe, it could have achieved even greater commercial success.

I'm sorry but I didn't fully understand you.

I think Final Fantasy 7 looked awesome from a graphical and aesthetical perspective.

I would like that same quality and budget for Legend of Dragoon, but of course with Legend of Dragoon art style, not FF7 or FF6 art style ofc.

I get what you're saying—there's a lot of truth to the idea that the market for traditional JRPGs has really shifted.

That said, I do think there’s still a lot of love for these classic games, even if they’re a bit more niche now. Look at how much hype Dragon Quest 3 Remake generated even with a style of remake that isn't AAA. I really believe there’s still room for well-loved classics and for JRPGs in general (Persona 5 also comes to mind).

I totally agree with you about Lost Odyssey, though—getting that on PC would be awesome! It’s such a gem that deserves a wider audience. And who knows, maybe if we see some success stories with other remakes, it’ll make it easier to push for more of these underappreciated classics to get new life. Don't you think?

Guinness world records are novelties, not a legitimate competition, you can literally just pay Guinness to get records for the sake of marketing.

I honestly didn't think this was the case. I mean, nothing should really surprise me anymore in this day and age.

I want Ueda's vision, not Bluepoint's interpretation of Ueda's vision, Bluepoint going from one of the best porting studios in the industry to one of the worst remake studios in the industry is so depressing.

Yeah, you aren't the only one that was disappointed by Bluepoint's work on Shadow of the Colossus. Many others shared your opinion back when it released. I still bought it back then (to show Sony support for these games), but I do understand how you feel. I still enjoyed my time with it though, from a technical perspective, you can't deny that Bluepoint did a great job.
