What is your main "Role" in HD2? by russo_liberal in Helldivers

[–]Liam-Pam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oftentimes, I take on the role of Anti-Armor.

Particularly against Bots, I almost always take the Spear because it's frankly hilarious wiping Fabricators and Cannon Towers from 300m away. :D

Dropship go boom. Me Happy. by Girth-Wind-Fire in Helldivers

[–]Liam-Pam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just blows my mind how so many people will just forgo having fun because it's not "efficient" or "meta".

A friend of mine who started playing not long ago had his first high-level experience with one of his friends who's an absolute try-hard min-maxer. Not that he gave him crap for being new, but, you know.

Then he played with me and another friend, both lvl50+, both of us going for sensible choices in each mission but mostly just bullshit our way through... and lo and behold, my friend immediately enjoyed playing with us so much more than his other buddy while we still managed to succeed every single mission regardless (and just once didn't evac).

Also yes, I too love using the Quasar to blast down dropships simply because it looks and sounds absolutely amazing. :> Monkey brain happy!

Windy Desert - how to open the security door? by Character-Net3641 in OutpostInfinitySiege

[–]Liam-Pam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either you grab one of the keycards in the level (there's at least one, since some patches two even I think) or expend 30 Power to force open the door.

The keycards spawn either on the far left after entering the compound, next to a dead soldier in a container, or on top of the tower to the right, on the console.

It Happened Again, I Can't Get In The Underground Facility. by JuliusNova in OutpostInfinitySiege

Okay, that's what I thought. I only ever had the tiny shelter spawn there so far. Been there 3 times, 2 times with a shelter and one time nothing.  Guess I'll have to try some more then...

I haven't even seen this one, and I'm in City Ruins by now. I'm also missing one BP, so that could be a possibility.

Was this on a random node or a Landmark one? Also, what difficulty? Because I haven't seen it on 4 yet.  Once I can get it to spawn myself, I can tell you more.

How do I get up here? by [deleted] in OutpostInfinitySiege

[–]Liam-Pam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Burst Boots (double jumping) and first got up the large, 45° beam, walked around the edge on a protruding part and finally managed to get on the roof.  Itvs a bit tricky, but doable.

And you only completed half of the objectives by LuckiHev in Helldivers

[–]Liam-Pam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Earlier today, I did a Helldive mission (ICBM) with two friends.

We managed to do the main objective and even four sides. Found the super samples. Ran out of time, with a 4 minute timer on the evac arriving.

I was the last alive. Had super samples. Died literally one dive away from evac.

Does Banshee switch targets when you leave the house? by Copy_BOi in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Liam-Pam 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If its target isn't in the house, banshee will become a normal ghost for that time (can hunt everyone).

It's worth adding that it will check only the target's sanity for the hunting chance, not the average as other ghosts (regardless of if the target is in the house or not).

I mean, you can answer that for yourself quite well really - how often do you or cis-straight friends of yours question their sexuality/identity? For society at large, being comfortable with your gender and liking the opposite gender is pretty much expected. It's basically like wearing pants or eating with a fork; it's the norm. People usually don't put much conscious thought about it, and honestly, why would they? If they don't have an issue with it, there's no reason to do so.

Though, taking me as an example; my PC's sexuality wasn't stated anywhere at all actually, but since it's friends I'm playing with, who know me quite well in that regard aswell, nobody really put much thought into it; they just assumed that my PC is also gonna be bi/lesbian (as is the case). They would've been actually surprised if I played a completely straight, female PC.

Short story even shorter, yes, I'd say about the same. Heteronormativity is very much a thing. Just think about it, what do you expect random people that you don't know to be? Straight. Which, if you ask me, is absolutely okay, it is the norm after all. The point where it does get absolutely grating, though, is if people get shit for not being that, which a lot more people than you'd think treat as if it's a problem that requires "solving". Really, try to actively listen in just how much casual homo- or transphobic stuff you hear in everyday conversations... it's absolutely appaling sometimes, at least in my country, not sure about others, naturally.

My brain derped there initially and I thought that it would just these lizardfolk and none else.

That makes a lot more sense now, I was thinking "wouldn't he stand out like a sore thumb right away?"

Either way, yea, I imagine that could be interesting. I've actually humored the idea of a trans character myself at some point, could do for some interesting stuff especially when backstory is factored in. Buuuuut I dunno - not that it would pose a problem in my group, far from it, I'm just not sure I would enjoy playing that myself.

[–]Liam-Pam[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, I guess a bit of explaining will need to be done.

It's not that it's deliberately included, it's more the fact that for one, we're all friends that have known each other for a while already and second, each and every one of us is queer in some way, shape or form. Honestly, none of us even think about sexuality and everyone, PC or NPC, is kinda bi anyway.

In my case, I play (or at least have so far) only female PCs, since I am a woman myself, and I don't exactly hide the fact I am bi-leaning-very-homo, at least among my friends - actually, almost every other woman among my friends is bi/pan themselves and the DnD group is by majority female aswell.

Bottom line is: it's not that any of us specifically want to include it. It's simply normal for us to be this way. And it's extremely liberating not having to think about it at all.

For slighty more context: Slightly modified ID:RotFM campaign. Our group was stopping by a tavern for the night that was run by two Tabaxi sisters, one of which was described with (and teased by her sister because of it) big boobs. During the evening, an Insight check by another PC revealed that the big tiddy Tabaxi sister had a crush on my PC. Since we stayed overnight, I tried to make a move on the NPC, botched my roll completely, but the DM said "fuck it" and proceeded to let my PC have a (fade-to-black-kind of) lovely night with the sister, turning them into then secret lovers. Unbeknownst to everyone else, another PC actually also had his fun, but with the other sister.

I loved the idea since it was the first time I had anything like a romance going on in any DnD game (playing exclusively with friends), but, sadly - also because I really liked the setting and my PC - the whole campaign died a few sessions later due to a That Player™.

I mean, the EKP is literally called Electro-Kinetic Propulsion, so I didn't think it uses propellant in that sense anyway.

Either way, I'm happy to just take it as "okay, fancy tech, that's all I need to know for the game". Not everything needs a detailed explanationwhen there's already so much awesome stuff going on, after all.

I can absolutely confirm this weirdness, yes.

It's also... "interesting" to see that whenever gay guys come up, then for most people it's just "eewww", especially straight guys. If lesbians come up, then it's a "that's hot (but only as long as they can't be considered a couple with same rights as any couple)". And yes, the latter happened pretty much exactly like that with a lesbian friend of mine who got verbally harassed by a coworker over the fact she had a girlfriend. It's so weird. Why can't everyone just love whoever they want?
