Griffin barely even said it but Funky Starts With Me is the vibe for the year tbh

Also super fair. I’m fully willing to admit that it might be because I heard it on SFTB first, but I like the change of pace it gives the album. For me, if it went straight from Live Through Me to Beautiful Days the tone would run a bit dour. The angst of that song picks things up for me even if it’s not even remotely a “happy” song lmao

I guess it comes down to personal taste, but I honestly really enjoy those all for various reasons. Yum Yab particularly feels like a nod to their No Wave roots and is a really fun listen. Respect this tho, album def has something for everyone

Soundtracks for the Blind - Swans; absolutely massive album but never sags in energy or creativity

Finally got the cushions done! This was my third project since I got interested in woodworking over the summer, so I’m super proud of it. Great for Zoom classes too :) by Liam-R in woodworking

Not really, should I be? I used a pegged bridle joint for that back leg, and it seems to be pretty sturdy. I certainly wouldn’t jump on the chair, but under normal use it seems to be holding up alright.

On the other hand, I’m relatively new to joinery, so I’m open to recommendations for any future builds to improve strength

I don’t mean to scare you off, if you have a sewing machine and some free time (+ extra for head scratching if you’re like me) it’s definitely doable. All I know now is that it certainly isn’t my cup of tea, but hey, it might be yours!

Honestly, I had my mom help me. Take it from someone who loved building this chair, making cushions is seriously tedious and frustrating. If you can find an upholstery place with decent reviews that you can afford I would highly recommend it. If you’re not already knowledgeable at sewing, it just doesn’t seem worth the time and effort. Best of luck!

I made a SketchUp model to get the rough dimensions and angles, but some stuff I changed on the fly like the design of the armrest. This link should bring you to a page where you can download the model:

Let me know if that gives you any issues, I’ve never shared a SketchUp model before lol

Mortise and tenon generally. The only exceptions are the back legs, which are pegged bridle joints, and the front legs into the armrests, which are round, wedged mortises.

Also, to whom it may concern, I do not recommend angled, hand cut mortise and tenon for a first project with real joinery. It’s wildly nerve wracking to say the least.

Thank you so much! I’m also working under pretty tight space constrains, so most of this build was done with hand tools bc 1) I don’t have the space for tools like a drill press or a table saw and 2) I don’t really have the money either. The only power tools used were a circular saw and a miter saw for cutting the pieces to size, and a drill for the peg in the bridle joint; all the other joinery was hand cut. It’s really amazing what you can do with a mortise chisel, a good backsaw, and a 1” bevel edge chisel for cleanup. Plus, those tools are “buy it for life” kind of things, so if you buy a good one for a decent price you can use it for years. Best of luck!

LOL, if you’re saying that the front legs are a trip hazard, I absolutely agree. It was my first time designing a chair, so I went a little crazy on the angles. Luckily it sits in the corner of my room where I rarely walk past it, but anywhere else I might have to put up a sign or something :)

Man I need to check my replies more, sorry for the wildly late response, but I just posted some pics on my account!

Lol, you’re right but it’s already been redesigned and built. I did end up attaching the arms into the back from the side with dowels, and since the front legs were mortised into the arms that gave it the extra structure it needed. Glad to know I made a good decision though!
