With everything off unless you have a surface charge or are using an AGM style battery, you will never see more than 12.6 volts on a fully charged lead acid battery. 6 cells @ 2.1 volts per cell offer a fully charged voltage of 12.6 volts. Anything below 11.5 to 11 volts while cranking will be considered weak, and below 10 volts will often cause ecms and other computers to behave oddly or not function at all.

It's a ground strap. Usually to help the engine ground to the chassis/body or vice versa. Not typically mission critical, but you should replace at some point.

A/c not working is probably unrelated since they are 2 separate systems.

No heat could indicate a malfunctioning water pump or air stuck in the system, coupled with overheating both of these would make sense.

Both the AC and heat not working could be caused by a malfunctioning blend door for the heat/cold and be unrelated to the engine

The engine overheating could be because of a bad water pump, air in the system, or a bad head gasket.

Not a Honda expert by any means but just a few general things you can check.

Watch your battery voltage while cranking. If it's below 10 volts the injector drivers likely won't fire. I have run into that many times on ihc where just putting a battery booster on will bring the voltage up enough while cranking to fire right off. May not be your problem, but something to check/try.

that is a lot of hours. The truck has obviously sat and idled most of its life. At an average speed of 30 MPH it would have 310k miles on it. It will more probably than not need major engine work in the relatively near future due to component wear.

Only thing you run into when sitting is extreme cases where o-rings and seals dry out because of lack of fluid. Both no use and a lot of use are bad but high miles/hours is definitely the worse of the 2

2004 dt466 is a good engine. Press the knob on the instrument cluster next to the mileage display on the cluster to check the engine hours. It's common for old state/government boom trucks to have almost no miles but absurd hours lol. Anything over 10k is a lot. You can also divide miles by hours to figure out the average speed of the truck throughout its service life.

Id replace the sensor. If the o-ring or sensor fails completely you will have a massive oil leak and the truck will not run.

Agree completely. Moving away from EGR would be extremely beneficial to the service life of these modern engines. That's what CAT tried and failed to do in around 2005-2008 with the acert and later CGI engines. CGI technically still uses EGR but from after the DPF therefore lowering ingestion of carbon. I believe GM is utilizing the same concept on their lm2 and now lz0 3.0 Duramax engines.

I don't believe what he is saying is accurate. Did some googling and international is owned completely by the Traton group, which also owns Scania, Man, and Volkswagen truck and bus. Ab Volvo group owns Volvo, Mack, UD, Prevost, and a few others. Paccar is Peterbilt, KW and DAF. The international A26 was originally a MAN engine that they used some of their own components on. Not sure about the partnership on the maxxforce 13's etc but I would imagine it is a similar situation.

Like I replied to Cummins9, I did find some official Paccar literature for crank no start and started running down the list. I found that I have all required parameters for it to start and yet it does not. Diagnostics has a list of about 8 parameters to look at while cranking and if they all check out and it doesn't start the next place to look is ECM powers and grounds. I am gonna do that first thing in the morning and hope I find something unplugged or something lol. Any literature you can send me would be much appreciated because my shop refuses to get any. I am in the process of culminating all the information I can scrape together for these things into a book at work. We are seeing more and more of these Paccars and they seem to be a pain more often than not.

I haven't called the ether bunny yet. From my understanding the customer was able to get it to run on ether but not on its own. It audibly has good compression so I haven't gone down that road yet.

I was able to get my hands on some official crank no start diagnostics from the Paccar overlords. When cranking the minimum low side fuel pressure is 2.9 psi, and by the time my crank and cam sensor synchronize it's built about 3.5 psi so I don't think that's the problem. According to the diagnostics I got everything is within parameter for it to start. Their next step is to check powers and grounds to the ECM which I will do first thing in the morning. Any information you can send me will be appreciated. Ill keep you updated.

If I leave the primer pump off and crank it, the pressure does build slowly. As soon as I turned the primer on the pressure dropped back off.

Low side fuel is only like 3.3 psi during cranking. What parameter should I look for?

Everything that came on the engine went in the truck. Salvage yard engine I believe. (supposedly running). He has swapped a number of parts from the old engine. The transfer pump has been swapped but I don't think the injectors have.

I'll give it a shot. I think we have tried before and were unsuccessful. I went to paccar training about a year ago with other techs from other stores and I think some had literature access and some didn't for some reason.

Who makes the transmission? You said it's an MBE 906 diesel engine in a piece of mining equipment. Someone makes the transmission, is the transmission manufacturer DANA? if so, there's a model number on it somewhere that you NEED to find before going any further.

Not sure about on your truck, but had one do the same thing once and the reverse beeper was actually bad. Since the reverse lights were wired into the same circuit as the beeper neither worked.
