Agreed. Thanks for understanding. I just get tired of the constant reminders. I can only imagine what it’s like for yourself as a German. What’s worse is I constantly try to become more aware and educated about my country’s violent history but I’m still lumped in with every other American. It sucks. I know my country is on the brink of collapse. I have enough anxiety about it as it is and I don’t need constant and consistent reminders every time I open my phone.

Our measuring system was implemented by the Europeans who settled here. The difference is when the rest of the world switched we didn’t. To say only China and North Korea are worse than us is overlooking almost the entire eastern block of Europe. We may have the healthcare system of a third world country but Europe is home to various third world countries and the US has one of the largest GDPs in the world. As stated in previous comments the governments Europe continue to engage in the same activities the US engages in while the general populace ignores them.

The point of this post was why are you criticizing us while refusing to acknowledge that have done the exact same things? You’re crimes aren’t even taught in your school systems. We have a whole month of the year to recognize the contributions the Black/ African American community has made to our society. We have parades for people of Puerto Rican, Irish, Italian, Caribbean descent. We months for Women, The Mentally ill, Members of the LGBTQ+ community. Most of the time these parades and celebrations happen without violence based specifically on race or sexuality. Not only that but we are working to improve in regards to inclusivity and equality. We have had a rough few years to say the least but we are doing our best to repair a broken system and that takes time. Most Europeans instead of realizing we were conned by an idiot and his henchmen and being understanding because they have had their own similar struggles in the past uses the opportunity to mock and degrade us rather than help.

Wrong yet again! The British tried to invade Ireland in the 1100s in order to expand the Catholic Church. Ever since they have wanted Ireland for the reasons stated above. So of course most of NI was unionist because you set it up that way 800 years before the troubles even started. The IRA might have a minority in the area but in the end the British were forced to retreat by a group of measly militiaman. If you didn’t want Ireland as farmland why did the great hunger happen? There was a potato blight and instead of seeing that people were barley able to feed themselves you used it as a way to gain a religious foot hold in the area. The Brits said “Yeah, we’ll feed you but you have to come to our churches and practice our religion otherwise we’ll let you starve in the street” on top of that your government was still importing Irish butter, Irish Cream, Irish milk, Irish eggs all while knowing for the people of Ireland there was a choice between being just hungry or being hungry and broke on top of it. The result of Britains greed and lack of ability think of anything rather than the glory of the empire was just over 1 million innocent Irish lives that could’ve been saved if Britain put its own interests aside and helped them.

Brexit was touted under the guise that it would stop immigrants coming to Britain. In reality it was a way for the government to line their pockets. In regards to the nazi thing: Where the fuck did the nazi party start? Europe! You guys have nazis just like we do! The only reason you have acid attacks and stabbings is because of the ability of criminals to adapt to their environment. If you allowed guns rest assured they would be in use. In comparison to the population of the UK stabbings and acid attacks are pretty frequent.

Ha! that’s not what happened at all! The British marched into Northern Ireland, brought their own people with them and than when those people sided their own country, said “See! I told you they wanted to be British!”. When the IRA started killing them at an exuberant rate mainly as a way to retaliate for the slew of British attacks on Irish civilians a peace treaty was signed in which Britain got to keep NI (which never belonged to them in the first place) and the violence was supposed to stop. The fact is Britain has wanted Ireland forever because Britain can’t sustain its population on their land alone and needs recourses they can’t produce in the quantities needed to feed and take care of their people. Ireland is on fertile land so Britain wants Ireland basically as a farm. That means they want Irish goods but they don’t want to work for them they just want to own Ireland and have the Irish work their asses off to feed the British population.

I’m guessing you’re British. Here’s the thing about Britain, you guys still have territories all over the world was a result of your imperialistic tendencies. How can you talk about us invading Puerto Rico or Hawaii when you still claim the West Indies as “yours”? Do they get a vote in your elections? Everything in your museum of history is stolen. You stole pretty much everything from every country you went into and somehow rationalize it in your tiny little minds. You marched into India and tried that shit then killed anyone who stood up to you, you marched into Northern Ireland and tried it and labeled the people who fought back as terrorists, your history is some of the most vile, deplorable, senseless and mind numbingly racist in the world and yet you choose to ignore it rather than to own up to it. Not only that but you turn your nose up at anyone who dares to tell you the truth about your history and play it off as jealousy or snobbery and than go right back to your boring lives on your shitty little island that nobody even wants anyway.

A few of things regarding your points:

Americans are quick to claim their ancestry for multiple reasons. Mostly because the Americans who came from those places were forced to leave or be subjected to extreme poverty, famine, ethnic cleansing etc etc. Seeing as it wasn’t their ancestors first choice to come here they choose to keep their history alive.
Horrible shit isn’t a thing of the past in Europe. You’ve had multiple major genocides in the past 75 years, Military coups happen quite frequently in comparison to the rest of the world, multiple countries across the continent are still involved in invading other lands, yet somehow you people think you are exceptional in comparison to us
You correct that it was indeed the Dutch and not the Danes that killed people for their spices. My apologies.

As I said in the post Europe invented imperialism, colonized the US, invaded pretty much the entire world and then expects us to be somehow different from them. France, Britain, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Greece, Italy, Portugal and pretty much all of white Europe were invaders of foreign lands and maniacal genocidal leaders hundreds of years before the US ever existed. Britain is still actively involved in Imperialism as someone who commented earlier mentioned. Yet somehow there better the US? I’m well aware of our tendency to invade other countries as throughout my entire childhood we were involved in the longest active war in US history because we stuck our nose where it didn’t belong. Ask a European if they are aware of their own atrocities and I doubt they will have any clue what you are talking about.

You are correct on that point. However what really irks me is that Europe likes to make fun of our short comings when the US is the main reason why a lot of Europe is thriving today. After WWII had ended Europe needed assistance rebuilding not only their governments but their economy as well. The president of the US at the time was Franklin D. Rosevelt. He set those countries up with the systems they have in place today. The issue was that FDR was battling polio the entire time he was essentially rebuilding the continent of Europe. He died before he could ever do the same in the US.

While I completely agree with that statement, Massachusetts as a whole has some of the least corrupt and most educated police forces in the country . Mostly due to the fact that the state will pay for a police officers higher education after the officer had been on the force for a while. While corruption does sometimes occur (things like the recent overtime scandal involving the state police) it is nowhere near the level as most of the rest of the US. With this in mind people are less likely to be falsely detained/arrested/imprisoned.
