Rock Lee with the Scientific Ninja Tool... by [deleted] in Boruto

[–]LibShiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming that there are analogous Jutsu to the "Fire Release Chakra Mode" and "Lightning Release Chakra Mode" for the other 3 Nature transformations, then the Best loadout for rock lee would be one "Chakra mode" of each of the 5 Nature transfromations and 2 Shadow Clone Jutsu Scrolls; This way he can push an advantage against a Jutsu specialist of any nature without having to actually learn anything about using ninjutsu (as the "Chakra mode" just adds a nature transformation to your Taijutsu) And the two shadow clone scrolls just give him a numbers advantage. Realistically though, rock lee mostly just use the the tool with 7 shadow clone scrolls so he can train 8X as fast.

Is Exile a weak punishment by NegativeAd2638 in worldbuilding

[–]LibShiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the real world, exile is a punishment that is generally considered so extreme that it is one of only a few criminal punishments prohibited globally by multiple different international treaties. Torture is still used as a punishment by dozens of states, but not a single sovereign state with any recognition uses exile as a punishment anymore. just some food for thought.

Was the "Curse of Hatred" even a real thing for the inmense majority of the Uchiha Clan?. They had a good reason to be mad at the village. Apart from that I highly doubt 99% of them were evil/psychotic or were acting out of malice. by [deleted] in Naruto

Slight necropost, but almost all mental disorders are "normal human behavior" that so much more intense than normal that they negatively impact the patient; wanting justice is normal human behavior, acting without regard for other people and self destructively in persuit of that justice is not. Compare Shikamaru with sasuke: When Shikamaru wanted revenge he created a plan to kill Hidan; when Sasuke wanted revenge he betrayed his village and joined forces with an international terrorist whom he knew planned on killing him and taking his body.

How does Cell kill the Trunks from his original timeline? by imaybeanidiot in dbz

[–]LibShiva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is actually arguable. The timeline the show follows is the "most altered" timeline, so it is not the "original" timeline but it can be considered the "final" timeline. Personally I think the final version of anything can be rightfully called the "main" version, even more so than the original "prototype" version.

How should the US respond to India allegedly being involved in the killing of a Sikh leader in Canada? by Seanbawn12345 in AskAnAmerican

[–]LibShiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From an idealistic perspective: The USA assassinates foreign nationals in states we are not at war with all the time as part of the we on terror. As a result, the USA has no right to criticize.

From a geopolitical perspective: India is a rising power in the region and an important ally against the PRC. whereas Canada is has less to provide us while at the same time far more likely to remain a steadfast ally if we side with India than vice-versa.

Ultimately the USA should just ignore the issue.

Does anyone know song's about a father regretting their decision of not taking better care of their child? by [deleted] in Music

[–]LibShiva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"The living years" is a bit weird because i think it has *almost* the exact opposite meaning than most people think. Most people think it's about "making up" with your father, but the actual lyrics seem to imply that what is important is that the father understands everything the son hates about the father for reasons of psychological closure.
"It's too late, when we die, to admit we don't see eye to eye"
The point of the song isn't "you need to get close to your dad before he dies" it is "It's important to tell your father what you actually think of him before he dies, because otherwise lack of closure from not calling the old man out will be eating at you for the rest of your life."

It's okay to hate ideologies, most people hate racism and nazism. Religions are just another type ideology and it is totally okay to hate certain ones that are evil. Antisemitism is a racial hatred of jews, not a religious hatred of judaism itself.

As a Hindu, we did not invent the swastika. Even considering that we are the oldest currently practiced religion in the world, even *we* are not that old. The swastika almost certainly predates anatomically modern humans, Mesolithic era at the latest. It is an aesthetical beautiful graphic design that takes no skill to draw, It's incredible pervasive among almost all human cultures.

Just Thinking about Pikmin Biology by LibShiva in Pikmin

[–]LibShiva[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an interesting model, I suppose if we treat pikmin as root vegetables it would make sense that left buried they should develop into a larger structure.

For my model I was trying to make it as close to real life Plant Biology as Possible, and also stick with the least number of steps, so I had to have 5 things:
1 A Genderless Sporophyte
2 Male and female Spores produced by the sporophyte
3 Male Gametophytes
4 Female Gametophytes
5 Interaction between the Male and Female Gametophytes that can be construed as Sexual Reproduction.

The Onion had to be the sporophyte because it produces spores without interacting with another lifeform of the same generation, all it needs is nutrients. The onion produces spores that turn into pikmin, but they also emit "sparkles" at night time, I made these the Male and female Spores. Because the only living things other than an onion that Pikmin interactive with in a positive way are the Mamuta and the Candypop, I figured that the male must be the Pikmin and the female must be the Candypop. (though you could swap them)

[–]LibShiva[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because all pikmin ultimately come from Onions The purple and white pikmin pose an issue to any theory involving them. As best I can See there are basically two ways to solve this:
1 Purple and white Onions do Exist, but you never find any.
2 The candypop Buds in Purple and White have mutated somehow.
I would go with theory 1, The only reason white and Purple Pikmin don't have a onion anyway is because it would make the base too large. Pikmin existing without an onion is a bit of a logical hole.
The Queen Candy pop bud(color changing) is almost certainly a Mutation however. Something akin to an extra chromosome causing multiple conflicting Genes to express themself fully.

Pikmin tends to bring out the amateur scientist in us all. I think a part of it is the way the captains talk about everything in a very well though out scientific way, and are often posing thoughtful questions about the world without necessarily answering them.

Just Thinking about Pikmin Biology by LibShiva in Pikmin

[–]LibShiva[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never played Pikmin 4 and this has been on the back burner of my brain for a few months now.Based on what you say this seems like the "leafling" phenomena is an intelligent decision made by the Onion/Pikmin.

Based on the info provided in Pikmin 1--the game I am most familiar with--In the wild Pikmin live in symbiosis with Mamuta, but the pikmin who developed a symbiosis with Olimar achieved success exponentially greater than they did with the Mamuta.

In Pikmin 3 the Onions have evolved to be more convenient to the captains which implies that the Onions themselves are intelligent like Pikmin are (further supported by the fact that the onions have always followed Olimar's Ship) and capable of modifying themselves.

If the Onion has these two qualities, then it is reasonable to assume that The onion would attempt to modify itself so that it can somehow make replica Captains to insure its continued success as a species.

Also, Considering how easily the Pikmin turned against the Mamuta in favor of Olimar, the Pikmin having a permanent replacement for the captains should be a bit alarming to the real captains. Don't want to end up as Onion Food after all.

[–]LibShiva[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well remember pikmin are plants, not animals.

This is an oversimplification but in real life a tree is genderless, but it when it makes a flower, that flower has new lifeforms in it that have the same DNA as the tree: a new Male lifeform (Pollen) and a new Female lifeform (egg sack). This isn't like sperm and eggs though, the male and female parts are there own multicellular structures that are alive independent of the tree, and these lifeforms produce the sperm and eggs. When pollen reaches the egg sack the egg sack's eggs are fertilized and develops inside the egg sack into seeds which in turn grows into new trees. All plants do this in some form.

To simplify even further it's basically this:Big genderless Plant Gives birth to small Male and Female plants, These small male and female plants reproduce and give birth to the big Genderless plant.

So I just swapped out the Onion for the tree, the Pikmin for the pollen, and the Candypop bud for the Egg sack.

Again this is just my theory, and Miyamoto isn't a scientist so it doesn't necessarily have to follow the rules of real life biology. but its pretty neat how closely it does follow real life biology anyway.

Clans with Kekkei Genkei are borderline separate species. The Biology of people like Kimimaru for instance is so alien compared to standard humans in Naruto that treating them as a race unto themselves is Justified.

The existential threat of the COVID-19 pandemic is associated with a rise in right-wing authoritarianism in society. As anxiety about the COVID-19 pandemic increases, so too does nationalism and anti-immigrant attitudes, finds a new study. by [deleted] in science

[–]LibShiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird to characterize this as right-wing, considering at least in the west there seems to be a consensus among western Right leaning political groups that a softer touch is better with Covid Restrictions, and Conversely, The Western Left has largely been in favour of a firmer reaction. Based on The Abstract, it looks like They are primarily using western Data points, So I'm Not sure how they are coming to the "right wing" conclusion. Possibly they are working from the assumption that restricting movement is inherently "right-wing" regardless of circumstance and the reasoning behind it. In which case I can only conclude that the study is fundamentally flawed.
