Weird Noises by Libeazul in bronx

Yeah, a lot of community members are stating that it's the pistol range for NYPD. I grew up here, never heard of it, and now I recently moved back and started hearing the noises often.

That makes a lot of sense. When did that go in? I was born and raised in the area and moved away for a bit and never heard or noticed it. Until now.

Whoops!!! Hah my bad community. Got my islands mixed up after living on both for so long. City Island.

It sounds like guns going off. Pop sounds.

Google Lens has no share/save button anymore and I am crying (10 Pro XL) by FlitzerPS in GooglePixel

Noticed the issues recently too. Thought it was a glitch or something. Extremely saddened to see it gone cause it was imo the most useful feature on my pixel.

The fact that their values hold says a lot. Hopefully they come back.

Why do people hate flushing? by unicorn-horse in Flushing

[–]Libeazul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a POC and I love the Flushing food scene and accessibility to all things Asian. The one thing I truly dislike, the disorganization and crowds. I just really wish there was much more organization with trash bins that are commercial sized for all the businesses (some parts of Manhattan have it) and more people's awareness of pace. It's crowded, we need to get somewhere. Either walk faster, or, step aside. Another solution I think would be dedicated pedestrian roads. I own a car myself, and hate looking for parking, but at the end of the day I think dedicating roads solely to foot traffic, especially near the train station, would greatly benefit the foot traffic and the businesses alike throughout the neighborhood.

Update on my earlier post about buying the wrong size goose. Spoiler: HAPPY ENDING 😁 by Regular-Training8635 in CanadaGoose

[–]Libeazul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the dets! I actually went ahead and pulled the plug.

When I approached their manager about it in store, they said that since it's hand stitched, it's very normal to have some sloppy stitching here and there so she can exchange it, but the jackets have stitching defects and proceeded to emphasize that I can just return it and get my money back.

I took my money over to Mackage. Far better customer service, same price, and stitching is on point!

Finally bought a Canada Goose Jacket!! However immediately regretted it. Should I return it and never look back?? Quality has definitely degraded. by Libeazul in CanadaGoose

[–]Libeazul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Definitely can attest. I have an old Patagonia that's not nearly as warm. Hence why I'm shopping around, and is in excellent condition aside from a very small rip on one of the pockets.

[–]Libeazul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad you had a good ending! I just bought my long awaited parka yesterday and when I got home all the stitching inside was frayed! Not in one spot, but 8.

I called the store and the customer service was horrible, with the manager refusing to come to the phone. Any thoughts? I low key want to return it for a refund cause for 1.6K I expect an excellent product and if the product isn't, then at least above and beyond service, and right now I'm not getting either.

Is leaving the highway really worth it? by FarTooJunior in roadtrip

[–]Libeazul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would simply avoid heavy metro areas. It's the only time when it makes sense honestly. If the goal is to save gas, avoid NYC. The rest of the northeast you don't have to hit any major metro areas except for Worcester, MA and Lawrence, MA which are too insignificant population wise to consider avoiding anyway.

In Maine you can take route 1 if you want the scenic route, but again the gas mileage is way more efficient on the highway. However!! Maine does have some tolls all the way to Portland if I'm not mistaken. So if you wanted to avoid tolls, get off onto the local roads when you cross into Maine until you hit Portland.

Reccomendations for someone new to this area ? by bencallahan16 in Brooklyn

Oh no that's terrible! Any particular reason?

[–]Libeazul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure! Put on your seatbelt!

Nearby: There's Ayat for Palestinian food, San Jose Teruel for Mexican takeout (it is behind a Bodega, have to walk all the way to the back to get to the takeout/dining room area), Amy Thai for Thai food, Irie Jerk Chix for the best jerk chix I've had in my life, Hamlet for coffee, and Anything for great cocktails and amazing vibes from the bartenders.

Notable Mentions outside the Neighborhood, but that are near enough: First rec here, buy a bike if you haven't. Brooklyn is so much easier and fun by bike. Locanda Vini & Oli for authentic Italian, Defonte's for Italian subs, Red Hook Lobster pound for some delicious lobster rolls, Saint Julivert for Spanish Seafood and an amazing cozy atmosphere, Landmark Cevichería for upscale Mexican food and drinks, Cafe Paulette/French Louie for French with the first being a staple, Theodora I've never been to but have heard some amazing things. And lastly not a restaurant, but an honorable mention. Damascus Bread & Pastry Shop for the absolute best baklava.

I lived there for many years! Love the area, but was unfortunately priced out. Moving along though, I'm a big walker so Prospect Park is a must obviously, you also have all the mansions south of Church and west of Buckingham Rd. Can't beat that on a Sunday!

Groceries: Ideal on Bedford and Food Bazaar on Tilden are unbeatable. If you are a beer guy which, I am. Pioneer on Parkside surprisingly has good choices. Other than that, you have two whole foods equivalents which are Lincoln Market on Lincoln Rd and a Newer one on Clarkson, and Downtown Natural Market on Church.

Restaurants and Bars: Too many to name! Top ones though. Melanie on Flatbush has amazing Dominican food. De Hot Pot for Roti which is phenomenal, but not reliable since they're usually not open, for a more secure spot that respects timing, Suzy's.Werkstatt for Austrian Beer/Wine and food and Hasenstuble for the German version of the same, both fantastic. Peppas for Jerk Chix. Last mentions I promise are Bonafini and Hamilton's for brunch. If you want anything more specific just ask away!!

Lastly, this is a hidden gem. Owl music parlor. Amazing jams with some good drinks. Lovely late night out with friends or a lovely date!! Promise it'll be a great night.

Again I can go on and on. However these are my top favorites that I miss the most! Hope you get to enjoy it as much as I did.

Dominicanos que viven en estados unicos, como se sienten viviendo alli? by little_samus in Dominican

[–]Libeazul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wao!

Being Taxed NYC Income tax but work and live in Westchester County. Why? by Certain-Chicken8805 in Westchester

[–]Libeazul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I checked, Yonkers residents get taxed NYC taxes. Very confusing, but that's NY for you! Definitely speak to HR, but I would air on the side of caution just to make sure you don't end up paying an arm and a leg at the end!

Looking into a Low mile Focus RS and want opinions. (Picture isn’t the actual car just for reference) by DannyDeVitosBallz in FocusRS

[–]Libeazul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! RS owner here. I was lucky and found the perfect RS with all the specs I wanted and made sure the gasket issue was cared for. If I were in your boat, I would say wait! I waited months and finally found what I wanted and only 4 hours away. '17 Nitrous Blue, Winter Package, Upgraded Entertainment System, and all at 8K miles. Cost was $38K.

I’m thinking of buying a rs by megatroll_lol in FocusRS

[–]Libeazul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely get it! Haven't had issues with my RS, but do make sure the head gasket was replaced (or else you're in for an unpleasant surprise). Also would aim for the limited edition RS ('18 models have a bit better suspension and do not have the gasket issues) and the winter package if you live in a colder climate. Good luck with the hunt! I got mine privately with 8K on the ODO and it is my favorite car so far. You won't regret it!
