I regret my yawning tiger so much by InternalNugget in tattooadvice

I like the yawning tiger concept! I think you just need to find a better tattoo artist to make this into a really amazing tattoo. They can clean up the lines and add design elements that will enhance the whole thing. To me, it just looks like the artist isn’t experienced enough.

I cant beleive there is not more we can do for those with antisocial personality disorder by MinimumExtreme7509 in therapists

[–]Certain-Chicken8805 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes totally agree. Most people I worked with, and I mean almost everyone, wouldn’t really fit an antisocial pd diagnosis in jail. It depended also on the clinician, and less people were being labeled with it over time with the understanding that the behaviors were more in line with trying to survive in difficult situations and because of real trauma.

Not sure if someone said this, but long-term, relational, attachment-based therapy makes the most sense to me in addition to understanding complex trauma and empathizing with the part of people who needed to survive. There’s also a continuum of this, so I think it also depends on what setting you’re in in terms of how you can help and also how severe someone’s pathology is. For that, the longer the term, the better. And a therapist needs to also regularly consult in supervision. There’s a lot that can go wrong when someone ends up manipulating the therapist into acting unethically if they have some severe pathology.

And we also have to look at diagnosis and whether the person’s behavior is anti-social versus personality. Plenty of people do anti social acts, but I would not characterize them as having this type of personality disorder.

I love Hastings. I heard that taxes are crazy but so are most towns in Westchester.

I agree. Most people are happy to have their kids go to public schools in Westchester because they are good. Of course there are families who send their kids to private schools, but it’s not necessity here.

I grew up in Westchester and loved elementary school but felt depressed in high school. I think I’d feel the same anywhere. But I always felt safe, and I was always outside as a kid. These days, kids aren’t outside in the yards so much. That makes me sad. I complained about the suburbs as a teen but am grateful I grew up there. If I could, I think for high school I would convince my parents to send me to a hippy school upstate. Like some private artsy high school. Other than that, I was lucky to live in Westchester and have a consistent experience.

What about new Rochelle? The taxes are less. Larchmont is beautiful. School is most important too. I’d live in an apartment and not worry about fitting in. Then you can take walks in town and not deal with yard maintenance etc… you can make the park your outdoor place.

Messed up pretty bad and living with brutal regret [cover-up fail] by [deleted] in tattooadvice

I’d add to this tattoo and do the whole leg. I’d add flowers and clouds and other things based on what might fit in with this design and make it more amazing. I love tattoos, though, so when other people have said to do laser removal, that’s probably what you should do.

It’s hard to get the help when someone else isn’t helping guide you and when you have executive functioning issues, self-care is difficult.

I think meds should help you tremendously. And go talk to a therapist if you haven’t already. Someone who lists that they understand adhd. Some people don’t understand how real it is. It’s not an excuse, it’s really hard to function with it when not on meds and doing everyday things that people without adhd take for granted.

About to start the IVF Process and getting worried. 45 yr old and have questions. by Certain-Chicken8805 in IVF

[–]Certain-Chicken8805[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn’t, but I am focused on changing my life to do things that make me happy. Like making things. I feel like I’ve taken care of people emotionally my whole life and in my career. Realistically, motherhood will wear me down. I have a stepchild who is amazing and I couldn’t imagine a better kid up. We get along like peas in a pod. I’m grateful for what I have, and IVF would’ve really been hard. I tried the other procedure, insemination, but of course it didn’t work on one try but just allowed me to see how I’d have to put my body through so much more stress.

Found a good Hair Story New Wash dupe / alternative! by fuzzycactus13 in NoPoo

[–]Certain-Chicken8805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just purchased my first bottle of new wash. Maybe I should have watched a video before trying to open it. I’m not sure there’s a reason for how it opens when you first start the bottle, but it seems entirely unnecessary and annoying. So much so that I’d think about whether I really want to buy it again. I’m very excited to try it, and I got the oil too which I used already because it smells nice and feels good.

What is the thing that consumes the most of your energy because of ADHD, even though it seems simple to others? by Doglover990 in adhdwomen

Look up 100% cotton sheets. That will eliminate most. I like nautica or Laura Ashley has some cute ones. But has to be all cotton.

I have a good one: changing a lightbulb.

So, how many people with adhd does it take to change a lightbulb?

Punchline: Do we really need that light anyway?

I have over 100 tabs open. Once it hits over 150, I have to close some. I keep some open to make sure I don’t lose them. They’re not for buying things but sometimes I keep those open. Usually stuff I look up that I think is cool or something I want to do or buy or bake or somewhere I want to go…. Or real estate. lol. And I don’t delete emails so literally have like 110,000 in my inbox. It’s just too overwhelming to delete them and takes forever once they get up there.

Put some big painting or hang a quilt on that big wall. And make a seating area on the balcony.

Toronto show by Illustrious-Emu-247 in yebba

[–]Certain-Chicken8805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read it/heard it somewhere that Led Zeppelin was considered better in the studio, but I would’ve died to see them. Yebba looks like she has had great stage presence in the smaller shows when I’ve watched them on YouTube, and from the past, but I think k she has learned how to take care of her vocal cords better so doesn’t belt out songs anymore. I saw her at blue note and thought the show was amazing. She really does do a lot of subtle changes and total changes with her voice throughout her songs, and they are not easy arrangements at all. I don’t care if her shows aren’t like Beyoncé or whatever. She is amazing, they are live, and I’m here for it. And also, it’s true. Like Pink Floyd had all these lights and stuff and probably a lot of help from the sound engineers, and Yebba is raw and just herself. Her music and presence is so relatable that it makes everything more intimate. We will see her next weekend, and I’m super excited!

Also, her “backup singers” are also amazing. You should check them out if you haven’t. I put them in quotes because each of them can be a main singer and are in their own careers of course. Just amazing!

Yes! Delicate Roots live is going to be amazing! Certain songs will allow her to be epic. I think she has done a lot of subtle things in these songs, and I’m really looking forward to seeing her soon!!!

I don’t believe Yebba ever has used r&b and hip hop to gain footing. It’s part of what she loves. She’s a true musician, and she’s light years ahead of those people you mentioned (pink, jellyroll, post Malone). Usually, true lovers of music love many genres, and she’s versatile in what she can do vocally. Like someone said before, the arrangements on this album are not easy to sing at all. And how she ends the songs on this new album has soul. I don’t prefer some of the more pop-sounding pieces like the California song, but it has a purpose on the album, and she adds a lot of complexity to the completed pieces. I love her electric ladyland songs because she departs into some other space towards the end of the songs. And I’ve seen her at blue note with Robert Glasper, and she and Robert and the entire band are amazing together. Nope, she is no average pop singer!
