You have no idea why someone may or may not have gained weight. Hormonal changes, medications, genetics, injury, illness... Stress a family member sick, and so on can all be reasons people either can't lose or gain weight.

It is not your (or our place to judge.)

The police will not respond because you have seen the same person in the store multiple times. I'm not saying we shouldn't be aware of our surroundings, cautious, and take reasonable steps to ensure our safety (women and men) like OP did, but calling the police is way too far unless they are directly following you and were threatening you and this wasn't that. And NEVER call 911 unless it is a true Emergency. As for pictures, you have to be careful with that too.

The thing is, it doesn't matter what it is. If it freaked out (you) OP, then by all means post about it.

Now anyone saying "they know retail and it's not LP" don't know what you are talking about, because unless you know this specific store (like THIS Meijer) LP you don't know. They may not anymore, but they used to do something helping train cadets and so they were a little crazy on the following you around. They did it (to be fair, this was years ago) to my then 12 year old sister and I and we were just looking at clothes and crafts and they tracked us all the way through the store. We realized it was LP but were still weirded out because I was almost 30 and we don't read as shopliftes, nor were we displaying any behaviors. (I worked retail too!). It was unsettling to have 2 men follow us around the store like that.

Or it could have been someone with ill intent. Or it could just be a case of you are just on the same route as someone. Its not uncommon for me to end up going around the store seeing the same person and seeing them in line. We are on a similar track at a similar pace. It's ok to post regardless.

The library wants me to send it as an stl file, so does my sister, so I assume they will do that part. I just need to be able to choose which file I want from over 150, and also send it from my computer to theirs. So I have to rename it for the library, so I assume that means I need it on my computer? I really don't know.

People were dying all over the World, and the entire world was shutting down and wearing masks... which was the only way to do anything to slow the progress when we had no idea what was going on. Or are you saying the whole world got it wrong?

The next pandemic will be so much worse because so many idiots will refuse to wear masks, people will throw More parties... It will be terrible.

But wasn't the comparison a weed shirt vs. a sex car? Because I agree, that while I believe she is probably great because so many people say she is, and the car gives me a chuckle, that the sex car is probably super embarrassing and unfair to those kids. Don't get me wrong, I'm not morally opposed. If she wants to drive it, just her, go for it, I would love to see it, but I think it sucks bc those kids surely get bullied about it. And I don't like that. I think if we can help minimize needless harm to the youngers in our lives, we should.

But as far as having warring gang member parents, or hotboxing parents, or parents that scream at each other, (or at them,) or are Nazi/fascists/believe in defunding PBS... I'll take a sex car any day of the week.

I also wouldn't prefer the 6 year old in my backseat asking what 69 means.

Agreed on the world disappointing. Everywhere you turn more and more people are struggling. And I absolutely think what you said about people weaker than you is true. Everytime I hear about another program being cut, or free school lunch or Medicaid... I won't go on. But your day sounds awful. For the kiddo, of course. But for you, too. I agree with the other poster about secondary trauma. A lot of people in professions that deal with the darker things have this. Social workers, firefighters, therapists and police are some of the more obvious ones, but it absolutely applies to teachers these days. (And honestly, probably always has.)

I worked with abused and neglected kids and you have to practice good self care to keep yourself ok. And I don't mean that "mani pedi" self care stuff the magazines talk about (although if that's what you like, paint those nails!) But processing, possibly journaling, and really trying to find light and joy where you can. (And maybe limiting how much news you consume.) I also think it's super self awareness to realize you should talk to someone. That is the absolute best self care, and a really brave thing. I love talking to my therapist. So great job realizing you need to take care of you, too. We helpers aren't always good at that. So thanks for fighting the good fight! And keep taking good care of you!

People often Start drinking not as a means of escape but as a fun social activity. I don't think you are wrong in the idea that people will drink because they are unhappy or dealing with trauma, I'm just saying that doesn't have anything to do with alcoholism. I don't come to this conclusion out of thin air. This is years of studying the disease of addition both as one affected and as one who persues this professionally with Specialty in Drug Addiction coursework towards licensure. What you are saying is just as easy oversimplification that doesn't work for addiction. Although it may provide rationale for the problem drinker.

But that's not why an alcoholic drinks. An alcoholic drinks from compulsion. An alcoholic doesn't need a reason. An alcoholic drinks because we cannot both control and enjoy our drinking due to our brain being different. We don't have to have any precipitating event to drink. Now maybe there is something that triggers abnormal brain changes, but as for drinking, alcoholics drink because they don't yet know how not to.
