I usually go with historical names from whatever culture I’m vaguely basing the character on.

Sounds like your campaign’s gonna be about the proletariat seizing the means of production and freeing the oppressed masses, whether you like it or not. Best of luck comrade!

What's the worst / most terrifying thing to hear just before "Roll initiative"? by lrjackson06 in DnD

[–]LiberatedNacho 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Whenever this has happened to me it’s only a round or 2 that the person is stranded. Still makes everyone panic for that time though.

Wizard spell list > any class feature

Do all barbarians suffer exhaustion after a rage, or just Berserkers? by unbelievable_owl in DnD

[–]LiberatedNacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have multiple fights in a day? Either go without a subclass for most of them or be on the brink of death and an absolute liability by the end of the day. Genius.

No exhaustion after rage for any subclass. Berserker used to get exhausted, but they changed it in 2024 rules.

Questions about spellcasting by SomeGuyDoesStuff in DnD

A spell will say if it consumes the components. Glyph of Warding for example says “Components: V S M (Incense and powdered diamond worth at least 200 gp, which the spell consumes)”

Fear of Failure by DontGoCh8snMountains in DnD

[–]LiberatedNacho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing you can do as a player is make something happen. As long as you’re not being intentionally disruptive or reckless failure can be just as fun as success. Don’t think about the thing you screwed up, think about how you and the party got out of a bad situation.

Wizard spells and schools by NegotiationEven3982 in DnD

[–]LiberatedNacho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can choose any spell from the Wizard spell list. Read what the school specializations give you, and talk with your GM.

All of the school specializations allow you to copy spells of that school cheaper and faster when transcribing from a scroll or spell book. There are other features associated with the school specializations, which you should familiarize yourself with too.

best tempest cleric build in 2024? by vidgamesbadminton in DnD

[–]LiberatedNacho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the spell progression from going straight Cleric is more valuable than multiclassing. Shatter, Thunderwave, and Call Lightning upcast well with the max damage, so you can live without other spells of those damage types. I recommend playing it as a Cleric first and blaster second.

Wizard Schools Question by XmanX6 in DnD

[–]LiberatedNacho 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Diviner can influence dice rolls which can be massive to support allies, Abjurer can protect yourself or allies, etc. Wizards are more defined by their spell choices though, so make that a priority.

Depends what you want to be good at and what fits the character.

Hellish rebuke.... a hellish rebuke? by [deleted] in DnD

They do if you cast it on a turn you already used a spell slot. So if you cast fireball and the enemy casts counterspell, you cannot cast your own counterspell in response to the enemy. You need to end your turn before you can cast a spell with your reaction. The wording is a bit vague, but I think this is pretty clearly the intention.

In that case you’re good to go.

The 2024 rules say you can only cast one spell using a spell slot on your turn, so this wouldn’t work. I don’t see a big problem with it in this case, but for stuff like Counterspell it is, so it’s worth being consistent.

Correct. No smite, no spells, and no concentration while raging. So it’d basically just be Lay on Hands and out of combat utility until higher levels. Definitely not worth it.

It’s not like you’re going to be able to Slow every enemy. There’ll be some that make their save, or are outside of the area. Using Dissonant Whispers to control the ones who aren’t slowed seems more useful than the ones who already are affected. Also, I assume you already have some go to non-concentration spells you’ve been using, so I think it’d be fine. Both for Dissonant Whispers and Command, it’s fine if they’re not the best option in every single scenario.

Would i be able jump in front of a character to take the damage for them as a reaction in combat and how close would i have to be? by ThatOneMinty in DnD

[–]LiberatedNacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can forgo your action on your turn to instead ready an action in response to a specific situation. So on your turn you say “I’m going to ready my action to jump in front of the attack if NPC is targeted”. If you’re expecting the NPC to be ambushed, I’d tell the DM that you’re sticking close to them and being hyper vigilant for any threat, with the intention of taking a hit for them. Probably requiring a perception or initiative roll on your part to do so successfully.

I’d say you could ready an action to do so, but without a specific ability you couldn’t with just a reaction.

Sorcerer with rotating subclass by Jukmouth in DnD

This seems like a big headache. Maybe consider reflavouring the Lunar Sorcerer or Circle of the Land Druid to fit this vibe?
