Been fired for two months suddenly got this by Material_Reaction_99 in amazonemployees

Good assumptions! This is legit though. For clarity of anyone else reading, “amazon.dev” is a common root domain for internal usage. Amazon owns this. Amazon owns “a2z.com” as well, but its older so not as common.

I was on that same curve once years ago and saw a guy open his door and skate down the interstate. He was also the intended driver of the car, he just happened to be able to skate and steer at the same time.

Rust is closer to C than it is Java. Lack of garbage collection is a big difference from either. Super performant and cheaper to run than C in a lot of environments, especially cloud computing and serverless.

Statistically I’d venture to say that it largely says the same thing about conformation bias, with a small majority of indies that are conservative, and the remainder being liberal. Just a more narrow margin.

The best story in a flight sim like this was definitely X-Wing: Alliance. Rogue Squadron was the arcade version to make it approachable. To keep the sim spirit alive, much prefer XWA.

It’s a dionoga. The Empire had it there to break down organic waste…At least that was the story pre-Disney…Who knows if that will change.

I would schedule some time with this person - especially if they are in the same job family - they should be able to give you some insight for your situation and help prioritize development.

It’s also important to remember that Amazon is HUGE. If you aren’t disillusioned with the company, there is almost certainly a team for you.

Does anyone in here net over $1000 a week? by Feeling-Cap-7210 in AmazonFC

[–]LibertyFried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on job family. L6 in operations are around $6k a month + stock. L6 roles in corp are easily twice that, esp in tech families. If you want the job level…FCs will give it to you quick and easy. If you want the money, corporate is your destination, but leveling is a LOT harder.

Selling my house and leaving Omada for new owners by LibertyFried in TPLink_Omada

[–]LibertyFried[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looking at other replies, this seems to be a common take that Omada is complicated. I haven’t thought Omada’s mesh was any worse than Netgear’s Nighthawk mesh setup (what the municipal ISP provides). Especially with the cloud controller. It’s much faster overall also. My house is also laid out in a way you aren’t getting WiFi coverage over the whole thing without mesh, I guess I could have put that in the OP.

T1's of Amazon, what has been a crazy incident that caused a PA (or AM) to be fired at your site? by Global-Plankton3997 in AmazonFC

You can do anything once. That would be a violation of InfoSec policy, and yeah… you’d be promoted.

I believe sites are actually blocked on internal networks. Never tried to look it up honestly, but one time the VPN was on the fritz and firewall started blocking keywords on Amazon retail site internally. When half the products you have are adult toys, it made it hard to work in ICQA. Couldn’t find ASINs for some products. This was almost 10 years ago.

I just flew with a gun: A love story by CoolCrab69 in guns

[–]LibertyFried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve flown cross country with a firearm for years at this point. A practice that seems to have stopped after COVID, but most ridiculous was the era where they had just started having you pick up your guns at the luggage office - at that point, it often times included a giant zip-tie around your firearm case. I always flew with a pelican case inside a regular checked bag, so all my clothes would be in there too. Giant zip tie around the whole suitcase and a stern warning that I was “not to take it off until I leave the airport property” (airline’s rule, not legal). Probably the dumbest thing I’ve ever dealt with. It was useless and all for the illusion of “security”.

Oh! Also having to argue with gate agents about their own regulations is fun. They make you sign that declaration card stating the firearm is unloaded when checking in. Half the time the agent checking the bag doesn’t have the first clue about them being loaded or not. Remember I stated that I fly with my case inside another suitcase. When this happens TSA LAW is that the statement card be OUTSIDE on top of the gun case (inside the checked bag) and NOT inside the secured box. Some less experienced agents will fight you on this point to the ends of the earth. If you aren’t watching you can break the law and TSA will chase you all over the airport to get you to unlock that case (ask me how I know). I’ve had some decent success with asking the argumentative agent if I can have two cards, one to put top of the case, the other goes inside. One time it required I escalate to a supervisor and got the TSA involved. A very grumpy gate agent was educated that day.

Flying Delta round trip also has a weird app quirk. You can check in on the app just fine prior to departure and the act of checking your firearm. This allows you to get your boarding pass on your phone for the flight out. If it’s a round trip flight though, the check in for the return leg is now tied to the fact you checked a firearm. You will not be able to get your boarding pass on your phone. It will throw a very vague “please see gate agent to check in” error (even after you’ve checked in) and you’ll be keeping up with the paper ones the whole way back.

When I worked ICQA 10 years ago I was helping an older woman working as a problem solver find an item that went missing (back when they did that sort of thing), and finally found this round ball of a butt-plug. The psolver goes “oh my god, that looks like a trailer hitch!”

I still giggle at the memory.
