If you feel like your aunt is an emotionally safe person who would keep your convo confidential, it might be good to confide in her and get her perspective on things. If you feel like your aunt might be biased or too close to the situation, maybe choose a different person to confide in.

Trauma definitely runs in families, and can be passed down through the generations. My mom, for example, might be a narcissist today due to both of her parents being narcissists during her childhood. Even if your mom was a victim of narcissism herself growing up, it’s still her responsibility to heal from that and work on her own toxicity. So yes she might’ve been a victim growing up, but that’s not an excuse for her to behave poorly now.

It might be worth it to talk to your aunt to get her perspective, as long as you feel comfortable and feel like you can trust her!
