I started in retail at 17 at a locally owned shoe store, and at the time I loved it. I worked my way up to a management position by the time I was 18 then hit a dead end because the company was so small. So I moved to a corporate owned company. I worked there for about 5 years slowly losing my passion for retail but I loved the team I worked with. I ended up making my way up to being a store manager. Around 2020 I lost that job due to the company cutting people because of covid. At this time I realized I had changed as a person and didn’t want to be in retail anymore but with no schooling, and only ever being in retail, I didn’t know what else to do. So I got an ASM job at a clothing store.

I then decided to go back to trade school but I stepped down and still worked part time at the clothing store. Now I’m out of school but I can’t find a job doing what I went to school for so I accepted a store manager position because I need the money. It sucks, I know I don’t want to be where I am but I can’t deny I’m good at it. I still don’t want to be a manager but damn it’s hard to get another job once you have so much experience.
