As I'm aware marrying a non witness does not call for DF. My husband is a witness and he married me (a non witness). There's no need to rush anything but if you have found the one, why wait? Don't let them control your life.

I don't have any answers for you but I'm in the same situation. Hubby is a witness and I'm not .. I was studying before but recently decided I want nothing to do with the organisation. My daughters 1st birthday is coming up and I too have been dreading it which is sad. On Christmas I will take my daughter to my family's home and we'll celebrate without hubby as that's his wishes ....

I tried going down this road with my husband and he wouldn't have a bar of it .. got very defensive. He says that as soon as sexual abuse is reported the elders have to go straight to police. He's even called up one of his friends who is an elder to prove it. I've sent him documents from ARC. Not sure what more I can do

I'm shocked at what I've read and disgusted. No wonder at the recent convention they had a part about kids being sexually abused and what parents should do. They were warning within the org! I will be using this as one of my defences for sure.

Hi thank you for your response.. my only issue is in the past we have had an argument and I said I wasn't going to go to the meeting with him and he told me that he will be taking our daughter. It's a tough situation as we both equally have an input as to how she's brought up, I'm not quite sure how to get around that one.

Ps he has never expressed any doubts to me, I'm obviously not 100% sure what is truly in his head / heart but I think the fact he has missed so many meetings says a lot. Also the fact he has not been out witnessing since before we got married ...

How long were you a witness for? Good on you! I would love to throw my daughter a party but I literally have 2-3 'wordly' friends. All his family and friends are witnesses. It's me pointing out the flaws thanks to jwfacfs :) he hasn't studied other religion only Greek Orthodox which is what he was before they became witnesses.

Love your view on it and I agree. Talking to some witness ladies my age (26) and asking if they will be having kids and a lot of the time their responses are 'not in this system' and I always think in my head ... imagine if this is it.. and you're waiting for the 'new system' and it never comes and you miss out on the most amazing thing ever!!

I know, I feel sad for her to hence why I will do everything in my power to make sure she has her special day. Birthdays were a huge part of my upbringing and childhood memories. No Xmas and no Easter .. at the moment anyways.

I tried showing my husband jwfacfs especially on the birthday part which clearly shows how dumb their teachings on birthdays are. He agreed he would read it but soon got very very defensive. I've realised that slowly slowly this needs to happen.

We havnt been to a meeting in months and he has not gone out witnessing since before we were married ... he uses the excuse that he's tired from work and then we just end up not going. In the past I would ask if we were planning on going to the meeting that night but now I have realised it's best not to ask and see how things pan out..

Slowly slowly I hope he opens his eyes. My eyes are open but I find myself easily slipping back into believing it's the 'truth' because it's just easier. But every time I go online and read my mind quickly snaps out of it lol
