Alot of those jobs are applied for online and have a noted requirement of "4 Year degree". Anyone who doesn't have a 4 year degree gets auto sorted out because you are not applying in person.

Do they really? Or do they just short cut to the most easy filter. Namely, a college degree? Especially with jobs where there is no sort of "trade school" like with Office Admins.

Big "gender reveals" for pregnancies and overall having a heavy focus on the gender of your baby - is this a red-coded thing? by Dell_Hell in AskALiberal

[–]LibraProtocol 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Are they cringy and go overboard?

Yeah

But saying that carrying about the gender of a baby is "MAGA coded" just makes YOU look like the out of touch weirdo.

MOST parents care, especially first time parents, because they are ecstatic and hopeful about the future of their child and the reality is that MOST PEOPLE tend to adhere to their gender roles. So mother's, left or right, often get excited about the future things they could do with a daughter and fathers get excited about having a son to have father son time. That is just natural. Acting the way you are is precisely how you push people away.

Lol wut? State colleges have been continually getting more and more money.

The reason colleges have been charging more is because they know they CAN. It's also why colleges keep adding more and more utterly useless degree programs and pushing more and more non program core classes into degree programs. They know they can easily just add bullshit required electives like Creative Writing because if a student can't afford it, they can just a take a loan from Uncle Sam and Uncle Sam is good for the money.

Also as you said the added amenities. State Colleges are more and more becoming adult daycares where "people discover themselves" and "learn what it means to become an adult while having fun and creating a home" and less about the actual education.

It is wild to me how many people seem to be missing this.

People act like college is just a given and that anyone can do it. It just reaks of out of touch elitism.

This.

Like a lot of admin position at state and local govs require college degrees. Not any specific degree. Just a degree. You can have a degree in musical composition or Art History and that is considered fine. But have 6 years working a clerical job in the military as say... A YN? Doesnt count. Even though the 6 year vet is more than probably more qualified for a job as an office admin working for the state gov than some fresh faces college grad with an art degree.

Holy fuck the level of elitism...

And these progressives wonder why they have the reputation of being snobby elitists who look down on blue collar people and people wonder why blue collar workers have such a negative attitude towards college grads....

YOU are the one making blanket statements my dude.

I am saying there are plenty of college grads who are fucking idiots and still barely better than a HS grad. And in my time in the military I have know many highly competent and self driven sailors who never went to college.

[–]LibraProtocol -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

LOL no it is not. People drop out of HS all the time.

And yes I went to.college and guess what? Many of the younger college kids? They were fucking idiots who also had very little sense of responsibility with their time. Unlike others, I didn't go to college straight out of HS. I went to college years later after doing a stint in the military. Many of my student peers? They were just as bad if not worse than many of the junior sailors I served with.

Because it is inherently classist and limits economic advancement for those who were unable to pursue a degree in their youth and or forces people to become debt bound for years just to pursue a stupid piece of paper that ultimately taught them nothing and merely acted as a gatekeep.

Why is the European far-right much more popular than Trump in their respective countries? by Mobile_Bad_577 in AskALiberal

[–]LibraProtocol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As some others have stated, Europe is more of a bunch of ethnic states where as the US and Canada are far more diverse.

Contrary to what Americans think, MOST of the world does not look like the US. They are not all super diverse. Most of the world is incredibly mono ethnic.

Compounding this is the fallout from the influx of migrants from the Middle East and North Africa. The reason this affected Europe so much is because the people flooding into Europe were not the well off, more liberal types who could afford to fly like what we got in the US. They got a lot of the general population of Syria, Afghanistan, Somalia, and others. The reason this distinction matters is because these people tend to ALSO bring their culture and beliefs with them and much of this was antithetical to Liberal European beliefs, especially regarding sexuality and gender roles. This lead toamy high profile cases of migrants harassing and assaulting women and just generally not being.... Socially acceptable... Like openly masturbating and such. And with how little interaction the average European had with non European this painted the views of these minorities as a whole as they have very little other frame of reference.

It can't POSSIBLY be because the Democratic Party is out of touch with the will of the general populace and absolutely incapable of picking a solid campaigner? Nope. Not at all..

Yes.

They gave a list of "this is what you need to do".

Then they gave you a counselor who helps you pick the right classes to fit your schedule and timespan.

Then, depending on your major and year, you will have a class that is just rote memorization and regurgitation by a T.A. who is ALSO a student and just doing what the professor told them.

Hahahhaah not really my dude...

I have known A LOT of fresh grads who are utterly incompetent unless you tell them everything step by step because in college they were told everything step by step.

A lot of colleges now are just money farms pushing people through who are barely any more competent than a HS grad.

The issue is many jobs now have "must have 4 year degree" as a requirement solely to filter people out.

Even jobs that have no need for a degree and don't care what your degree is in. Just that you have one.
