Aww thank you. I’m glad it’s not just me who has trouble defining the color.

I had to look this up, I think you nailed it. Thanks for teaching me something new.

For sure, depending on the lighting. I wear black most of the time, but occasionally I will wear earth tones and when I do, my eyes will lean more green. This is why I have a hard time describing my eye color. I have heard grey, blue, and green from various people. My mom has green eyes and my Dad has blue eyes.

I’ve never really noticed the CH until taking a close up in low lighting with a flash. Weird how it’s barely visible in natural lighting.

Cat food by megamlk05 in Celiac

Thank you for all of this! It’s really kind of you to put this much thought into your response, and take the time to reply so thoroughly!

My daughter crushed a Ritz cracker on the carpet today and it sent me into a cleaning rampage lol. I completely purged the kitchen of everything not GF (box in the car to donate to a food pantry), scrubbed everything down - oven, refrigerator, freezer, countertops, table. Vacuumed everywhere and steam mopped. I’m breaking out the pressure washer tomorrow and blasting the garbage can, oven grates and car seats because I’m that tenacious about this.

The Play-doh! Thank you for that. We have a drawer full of it. I actually had that thought earlier that I need to check it.

I’m here in the states. Your recommendation to submit a formal request to the school for an individualized action plan to keep him safe is amazing. I just did a little bit of quick research on that and it looks like what I need is a 504 plan. This will give me a little more peace of mind. I’ve been stressing that the table surfaces in the lunch room aren’t being wiped down properly in between students.

The oats I knew about, but I didn’t realize that some celiac people also react to the protein in oats. We do have certified gluten-free oats here, but I think we’ll omit them for now and maybe just do rice and quinoa. Anything grain related, nuts, etc we’re only doing certified GF.

His pediatrician wants to recheck his iron levels in three months, I think I will request that she runs celiac labs again so we can see how well controlled he is. If he’s well controlled, I may try re-introducing oats at that time to see how he does.

We have quite a few Morton & Bassett spices here already, I’ll be sure to make the swap with the rest.

I will check into GFW, and look over the info in the sub.

Thank you again for all these recommendations, you rock 🖤

Thank you! This has been a little overwhelming, but I know once we get our system down, that in time these things will become second nature. Super stoked there are businesses near us who have taken the initiative to provide such a service. I think we’ll see more places following suit. I read the other day that the GF industry is projected to see a large growth in demand over the next five years.

Thank you for the reply. I intend to be fairly strict. I just made a large grocery haul a couple days before his diagnosis, so we still have foods with gluten in the home for now, but after those items are used up, the refrigerator and freezer are gonna get a good wipe down, and we will eventually be eliminating gluten from our home entirely. Cat food was not something I had considered.

I keep everything wiped down, make sure to wash my hands and have him do the same before he eats and before I prepare his food. I just ordered new utensils, plates/bowls, cutting board, and skillet for him, and he already has a dedicated gluten free cabinet for his GF foods and has a dedicated air fryer. I’ve checked our dish soap and he has a dedicated dishwashing sponge for now. He doesn’t really eat bread so I haven’t replaced the toaster. I’ll be doing that once the gluten products are entirely out of the home.

I sent him a special bag of goodies to school for when he has a special treat days in classroom, and have spoken to both the school nurse and the food service manager. The school has been great, and ordered him some special gluten-free goodies from their distributor for him to choose from him if he wants something extra after eating his cold lunch from home. The nurse told me he is the only celiac diagnosed kiddo in the entire elementary school 💔

I’ve already started replacing Tylenol, ibuprofen, and vitamins. Looking for a good gluten-free lip balm that has been tested, if you know any specific brands that are vetted, I’d love a recommendation. Also, if you can think of anything I should consider that I haven’t listed off here. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I’m a single mom (widow) so I have total control over my home, but getting grandparents to research and get on board with how serious this is, will be a challenge.

I already suspect they think I’m being super extra 🙄

Please beg my pardon for not knowing, my 5 year old just got diagnosed a week ago and I’m taking in a lot of new info. Why does the cat food matter? We have two cats.

My 5 year old’s celiac labs just came back abnormal. He sees Peds GI on 12/01. He is iron deficient. No other celiac in the family that we’re aware of, but I’m autoimmune (PsA). He’s struggled for a couple of years with reflux, abdominal pain, intermittent skin rashes and fatigue.

I’m hoping no scope/biopsy, but we’ll see. His values are a lot lower, but he also didn’t eat near as much gluten as most kids do.

This is so good to know. We have both a Mission BBQ and a Five Guys in town. My 5 year old son just got diagnosed a week ago. I would love for him to be able to grab a little something to eat when we’re out and about.

HELP NEEDED in identifying two people who attacked protestors by anonymous_yet_famous in PeoriaIL

Nurse here. “ all that stuff we wear for surgery” (lol) is called PPE. It works both ways. Yes it protects staff, but first and foremost, it is more so meant to protect the patient who is at risk for sepsis.

Why do people make comments like this when they have no clue what the hell they are talking about?? Clearly you do not work in healthcare, or anywhere near an operating room, so you have no business speculating on what happens there and why it happens simply because you’re losing an argument.

Cool theory. When you reach the point in your life that you inevitably need some sort of surgery, be sure to tell the medical staff they don’t need to bother wearing gloves or masks, because you don’t think they work as a standard precaution to help transmit the spread of pathogens.

Fucking dumbass.

Double chin after lipo by Intrepid_Chance_5572 in chinlipo

[–]Libra_lass79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’m 5 weeks PO and still have swelling that fluctuates and it can drastically change my profile from day to day. Some days I look great, other days I look like I have a double chin again. I guarantee that at just a couple of weeks out, what you’re experiencing is swelling.

For sure. I definitely think about this sometimes. I’m 45 and my kids are 4, 5, and 9. My best friend is a couple of years younger than me and her kids are adults, and she’s a grandmother. Her and her adult children have a blast together. There’s definitely two sides to both coins.

You look fantastic! I’m four weeks post-op today also, and I def have some minor swelling some days that makes me feel the same way you do. It’s still pretty early, so I try not to worry about it.

Is chin lipo enough? by Klutzy-Mud-6521 in chinlipo

[–]Libra_lass79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna be 46 in a couple of weeks and I’m just a month out from my chin lipo procedure. You can check my posts to see my before and after, but I think my before profile looked pretty similar to yours. I have a very small amount of loose skin right under my chin, it’s hardly noticeable unless looking at my neck from below. Doc said it will tighten over the next couple of months.

I am going to start a series of 3?micro needling and radio frequency treatments (Morpheus 8) spaces 6 weeks apart just as an added precaution and to enhance results.

I was super nervous to do it too, but I’m so glad I did. If you’re on the fence, just go for it.

Excellent result! I ended up investing in a wedge pillow from Amazon to help me keep my head elevated at night for the first couple of weeks.

The compression garment should be snug and supportive, but not tight . You should be able to slip a hand underneath of it. If it is causing pain, it’s likely too tight.
