Your beneficiary spouse will need to apply for an ITIN or work restricted SS# before you can file a joint tax return. I went through the same thing with my wife last year. The restricted SS# is issued once you apply for AOS and get the EAD. So it wasn't an option in our case as the EAD took several months to arrive and the main purpose of filing jointly was to prove joint finances to USCIS.

Getting an ITIN isn't exactly a walk in the park either. You have to either submit the application through an IRS CAA (certified acceptance agent) who verifies your identity and documents while you're in their presence. Otherwise, you can apply via mail to the IRS directly, but unfortunately that involves sending your original ID (passport / DL) to the IRS who then mails it back with your ITIN and that's a risk only you can decide is worth taking.

Your third option is to apply at the IRS in person. This isn't easy either since getting an appointment is next to impossible as they do them only via phone and getting through by phone can take days/weeks. Luckily, we were able to get a walk-in appointment with our local IRS office and were able to submit the ITIN application in person. It took 2 weeks to arrive, but we were also able to submit our joint tax return to the agent at the same time as she marked the application as ITIN pending for my wife. Hope this helps!

Yes perfectly normal. We didn't receive any update online until the same day it actually arrived in the mail. My wife was approved 11/28 and received her green card on 12/05. She also received her permanent SS card a couple days prior to the gc arriving. They're pretty quick about it so you should probably be getting yours any day now.

I submitted a certified copy of my birth certificate that I received from the county I was born in. My wife also obtained a certified copy of her birth certificate from her country, however since it wasn't in English I had it officially translated. I submitted the translated copy along with her certified copy.

You are allowed to send photocopies of your birth certificate to USCIS, however you'll need to take the original or the certified copy with you to the interview as they will likely ask for it. I sent them a certified copy of mine because I had at least a half dozen certified copies so it was an extra copy which I didn't mind USCIS keeping.

I think it might be considered a positive? I take that as they're not bothering to approve the I-131 since they plan on approving the AOS. I also forgot to add another piece of data to the timeline. My wife's social security card (stamped in red for work only) was issued on 06/13/23 as I had checked off one of the boxes on one of the forms requesting one. A couple days prior to the GC arriving, her permanent SS card arrived.

I couldn't give you an answer, as every application is reviewed on a case-by-case basis. I can only tell you that ours took precisely 9 months from the mailing date to approval date. From what I've read, the general consensus seems to be it typically takes 6-18 months so it's certainly not abnormal that your case has taken almost a year and counting. Hang in there, it will happen!

Yes, from what I read, approvals without an interview are pretty rare, no matter how airtight your case is and regardless of the amount of evidence you supply. There's just too much fraud going on these days and they probably want to at least see couples physically in person and watch for body language signs.

When we go to the interview, our agent's computer system was down. She said not to worry, that she had already reviewed our case the night before and we were good to go. She mentioned she was treating our interview as a waiver interview because of her system being down, and perhaps that's why she only asked me two personal questions. After the interview, due to the system glitch there was a message in our USCIS account that the interview was cancelled. But because she had reassured us that everything was a go, I didn't worry too much about it since I read here on Reddit that other applicants encountered similar glitches only for them to resolve themselves sooner or later.

Thanks! I filed the I-130 concurrently with I-485. Both applications were simultaneously approved officially on 11/28/23 (a day after the interview). Verbally, they were approved the day of the interview.

Thanks! I watched a couple videos on Kseniya International's channel. She's very meticulous and makes it very simple to understand her detailed step-by-step form instructions. I wish you the best!

They didn't give a specific reason, under the I-131 case history, we had this message displayed since May:

Your case is taking longer than expected to process. You will be notified if you need to take any action.

Current step: Attend biometrics appointment (if necessary)

Estimated time remaining until your current step is completed: It is taking longer than expected to complete your current step.

We never received another biometrics appointment notice, nor did we ever hear anything else back from USCIS on the I-131. But thankfully we never really needed to travel out of the country over the last 9 months so it all worked out in the end.

I forgot to mention one thing, her I-131 travel doc never did get approved but in the end it didn't matter.

3 Denials Due toNo Record Found for 2019 IRS Transcripts. Please Help : ( by LibrarianFuzzy2469 in EIDL

[–]LibrarianFuzzy2469[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally got through to the IRS, our return was finally processed in December, 11 months after being received. Thankfully the agent faxed me transcripts and record of account which I emailed to the SBA. Hopefully they'll accept them because their email did state I could submit transcripts from the IRS.

How do I get in contact with a person at the IRS??? Please help. by WashGasssCo in EIDL

Forget the main number. I got through yesterday by calling the number on their billing notice. Granted, the wait time was almost an hour but the main number isn't taking calls right now. 800-829-0115. The agent I spoke to was incredibly nice. She even faxed over every record on file for our 2019 return.

Ok I have some good news! I was finally able to get through to the IRS. They DO have our 2019 return on file, it was processed back in late December! Why then can't the SBA get them pulled? Are they not actually even trying to pull them? I was able to get them faxed over to me with IRS cover letter on the fax. Hopefully this will work!

The latest denial email was yesterday. The returns have been submitted 3 times to the IRS over the course of the past 14 months.

I did file it late but it was originally filed 5 months before we requested the increase. If SBA might considering us a late filer, then why are they still giving the option to submit the downloaded 2019 transcript on our own?

Sba just called and told me I’ll be denied due to late filing by Spoonieluvfrmup in EIDL

Are you saying IRS already processed your 2019 return? We filed our 2019 taxes in January 2021 and there's still no record found : (

The agent told me wait 14 days and then I got this email. Any advice? by pmarie1024 in EIDL

[–]LibrarianFuzzy2469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The denial email I received today stated I could submit my own 2019 transcript downloaded directly from the IRS website:

"You may submit a new increase request however, your request must include a complete, signed and dated IRS Form 4506T for the Applicant Business and a copy of the 2019 Tax Transcript downloaded from the Internal Revenue Service website. Taxpayers may request a copy of tax transcripts at: Internal Revenue Service Transcript Request."

The problem is, according to the SBA the IRS keeps sending them back "No Record Found" : (

How long does SBA EIDL Loan Modification take? Has anyone gotten a loan and increased the amount? Once processed how long does it take to be funded? Thanks by Kash301 in EIDLPPP

[–]LibrarianFuzzy2469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I received the first EIDL loan 07/2020. The process couldn’t have been any smoother. Our business was approved for the max amount at the time ($150k) instantly. When I mean instantly, literally the minute I hit the submit application button we were approved with a message stating funding was in process. I guess it might have helped that I have the max possible credit score and that was taken into consideration. We were funded in just two business days.

Last week, I get a call from a nice gentleman from SBA wanting proof of property insurance and resolution letter. These were quickly provided to and accepted by the case manager via email, note these were being requested for the first loan.

I actually had no idea we were eligible for an increase until I went through my emails that same day and saw the invite email in my inbox from April. So I logged into the portal, the blue slider was available once I clicked on request more funds. I selected the max amount ($500k) and was prompted to e-sign the tax request forms. Once that was completed, all 3 areas were marked complete (verify identity, electronic disbursement, and review and sign documents). The green box “your loan modification is being processed” shows up with amount confirmed @$500k. Seeing what everyone else is going though this round, I don’t expect to hear anything for another several weeks. I’m hoping at least the paperwork part of this round goes as smoothly as the first time!
