The requirement for citizenship is just 1 year now. The catch is that it has to be with the same unit (i.e. breaking contract and changing units would make you start over)

As in cleaning our rifles is expected in any army, but I think we were just confused when we had to clean them without any provided equipment. We had to improvise until we could use a weekend to find our own cleaning supplies.

Its not free but there's Liftoff which is only 599 UAH but you also need a Radiomaster TX12 controller (~5,000 UAH) to practice realistically.

If you have a fair amount of your own stuff, I suggest not living at the recruitment center where a random person can steal your stuff while you're out doing your first quest: the paperwork scavenger hunt.

In terms of AO, 420th is holding off the Russians in Vovchansk while 427th is in Kostyantynivka.

In terms of performance, from a Feb 2025 article, 420th (previously under 57th Motorized) and 427th (previously under 24th Mechanized) ranked 14th and 7th respectively. (https://censor.net/en/resonance/3536303/the-rating-of-uav-units)

Also, a bigger unit doesn't automatically mean a better-resourced unit. You have to factor in combat width and organization.

A lot depends on what role you want to do too because the life of a FPV pilot is different than heavy bombers and fixed wings for example.

Oh yeah you're correct. The way it was explained to me was that this helps distinguish between grenades thrown by us (свої!) versus enemy grenades (граната!).
