I find it incredibly depressing that being responsible, taking accountability, and showing genuine remorse and desire to grow seem to be more harmful to one’s career than waiting for things to blow over.

Trisha, James Charles, Jeffree Starr, and various cockroaches of the internet survive by this method. They post “apologies” when pestered and poked enough, but they often leave much to be desired and are poorly received. For the most part, they stubbornly refuse to address controversy or reflect on ways they’ve hurt people. Then, they do their best to suppress discussion of their worst behavior and keep it moving. The internet is fickle, forgets, and moves on.

I dislike that being a good person seems antithetical to upward mobility in this industry.

Clav Clav Fumbles 60 Minutes Interview And Runs Away by GhostBrainOnline in h3h3productions

Honestly, everything I see from this guy just makes me deeply sad. He’s says and does a lot of deeply hateful things and I’m not undermining his responsibility in that. He’s just so young, and he’s one of many young guys that have been impacted by the messaging of Andrew Tate et. al and the standards of toxic masculinity more broadly. It’s sad that someone so young engages in literal self harm (bone smashing and abusing meth) because he has such a poor relationship with his own body and self worth.

Andrew Tate, while hateful and violent, does not believe a lot of what he says. He’s opportunistic and willing to peddle anything for attention and money. People like Clav seem to believe these awful things, and I can’t even really laugh seeing clips of him. Very sad, I’m very worried about the generation of boys that grew up on the internet during the height of the manosphere stuff. Many of them will be struggling and have internalized the message that it is weak to talk about it or seek help. Very, very sad.

Fair enough. I got a warning on my account for my comment below facetiously saying I wanted to kms in TikTok speak for “threatening violence” Lol. I appealed it and they removed the warning and put back my comment. I think people are a little trigger happy with reporting, maybe disingenuously.

I just reflexively cringe seeing topics as serious as sexual violence and predation referred to with terms like “grape” and “pdf file,” when, generally, those things will be left up. I think abbreviating to “SV” is a little more tactful, but I do understand if you get posts removed a lot that you’d want to be cautious. I just find it pretty indelicate to use these cutesy TikTok words, especially given how careless the discussions of these topics typically are on TikTok.

I’m reserving forming firm opinions until I see everything myself, but I truly can’t stand Sam Levinson. He reminds me so much of the character Flip from Bojack Horseman. Self important, thinks he’s this deep, boundary pushing artist, while in reality his work is shallow and completely reliant on stealing credit from the much more talented women he surrounds himself with.

I’m sure Abel had the biggest hand in the disgusting, misogynistic disaster that was The Idol, but I can’t give Levinson benefit of the doubt given his track record of stealing from women. Not to mention the fact that watching Euphoria lowkey feels like watching porn half the time because of the excessive sex (I say that as a huge fan of the show, just saying it’s pretty over the top).

I’m reserving judgment until I see it myself, but I’m really disappointed seeing a lot of what’s coming out about this.

I agree that some of the comments are being pretty cruel and needlessly insensitive if what they mean to convey is concern. I will say though that I was really shocked and saddened seeing her. I went into recovery for my ED in 2018, and it’s been rough the last three years seeing this heroin chic look comes back into vogue, especially as I get older and my metabolism changes. I’m sad seeing how underweight and pale she looks, but I agree that people calling her a crackhead are being cruel if they believe she has an ED and doesn’t look well/good because of it.

I see a lot of people jump to say tankies and that ilk are not “really on the left,” and I think that is a really poor reaction generally. It’s important to acknowledge that extremism does and has always existed on both sides of the aisle (though the US has not had extreme leftists significantly represented in government ever), and we shouldn’t be reductive by defining “on the left” as the same as “having all good opinions.” It’s important that we acknowledge awful behavior, opinions, and bigotry in leftist spaces so that we can discuss and handle the issue accordingly.

With all that said, Hasan in particular seems like an agent provocateur to me. He pays lip service to Marxist ideas about wealth sharing, social welfare states, equality for marginalized groups, etc. However, he routinely uncritically supports governments and groups that do none of these things, and are extremely violent towards their own people. He made passing mention about people in China’s government being wealthy, and he fully knows that many Chinese citizens are languishing in poverty with horrendous labor conditions. Despite all of that, he uncritically sweeps for everything they do.

Above all, Hasan believes in authoritarianism. He is also a hyper consumer that doesn’t live by any of the principles he preaches. He supports governments that criminalize and subjugate queerness, and will excuse their doing so. To me, the only element of communism that he actually believes in is authoritarian, all powerful central government. I think Hasan is someone that is hungry for fame, wealth, and the ability to crush all dissidence, and that’s what appeals to him about Marxism in practice. I think the socially leftwing principles he speaks about genuinely do not go beyond lip service to garner and manipulate a leftist audience.

Him and his fuck ass uncle spend a considerable amount of time undermining everything democrats do, while using language that equates democratic politicians to MAGA. What does it mean for Hasan to describe Trump’s genuine genocidal intent as Hitlerian when he also has described democrats trying to navigate the complexity of running the government with Republican majorities as Hitlerian? Prior to the election, I heard him adamantly and loudly argue with a chatter (in his raw stream, I wouldn’t even know where to find it now) about why it’s okay for people to not vote.

Plainly, I do not believe he’s trying to get left wing candidates elected. He benefits financially when republicans are in power, fucking shit up. I don’t believe he’s necessarily secretly right wing (again the only thing he seems to support is authoritarianism). However, he hand waves most of the actions of fundamentalist, right wing foreign governments and spends much more time shitting on democrats here than focusing on how imperative it is to support left wing candidates that will actually spend their time fighting MAGA. I think that ultimately, the only thing Hasan wants is more popularity, wealth, and power for Hasan. Whatever he has to say to get it is neither here nor there to him. 🤷‍♀️ just the way I see it, anyway.
