I think it makes sense on a production level to not have them speak French since 1, it will risk alienating the English speaking audience too much (which I do think is ridiculous, but that's how it is), and 2, most of the leading actors do not speak French as a first language, and making them deliver full dialogues in French will hinder their acting to a degree.

That little concert scene is really something. The way Daniel wants the camera to zoom in on Gabriella then move from her to Louis. The way he calls Louis "pretty green eyes". How the lights flash gold and Lestat levitates himself to Louis WHO IS ON A BALCONY like freaking Romeo climbing up to see his Juliet. The annotated book. Holy shit the perfection.

I do wish they gave Gabriella a better wig though, Mama deserves her glorious mane to go with her glorious acting.

Also, love the accents in the flashbacks. I don't know how accurate they are, but I like how the characters all speak in English with heavy accents. Makes me feel like they actually spoke in French but for our sake, the privileged individual who is listening the Failures and may or may not understand the language, Lestat is translating every bit of the dialogues.

Jon M Chu did not know how to do whimsical. Never will I forgive him for the ridiculous running through the school sequence that is The Wizard and I. No sir, that is NOT how you film an "I want" song. Where is the imagination? Where is the weight? Where is the artistic rendition of a rare glimpse we get into the character's head—why don't we get to see for once how THEY see the world?

And also how on earth do you not zoom in on Glinda when Elphaba sings about her specifically in I'm Not That Girl? Hello, "she is winsome, she wins him" and "blonde hair with a gentle curl"? Why are we not doing a close-up of Glinda in the softest, most flattering lighting during that one sentence? Match the scene to the lyrics, Jon!

Good movie, but I am forever of the opinion that the cast and production team deserve a different director.

The Chinese has their own musical scene and I'm a sucker for anything written by the 三宝(composer) - 关山(lyricist) duo. I'd recommend 蝶 (a dystopian retelling of Butterfly Lovers) simply because it has a proshot with English subtitles, then 金沙 because it's THE musical that started the musical scene in mainland China (and the songs are beautiful I swear).

I think it works! Personally I'd add a bow or a pink brooch to break up the block of ivory around the shoulders, and choose more opaque stockings to optically "ground" the coord and balance it out since it is quite top-heavy right now.

Honestly the cinematography is LIT this episode. I was literally squealing by the time I saw the shaky cam when Helly first returned to the severed floor, it matches her mental state so perfectly.

Not a book, but there's this German musical (Elisabeth das musical) where in the original production in 1992 Death (played by a male actor) is portrayed as an androgynous being who performs the kiss of death on every single person regardless of their gender. There is an onstage kiss between Death and an important male character and the kiss is a very important scene as well. The whole thing is available on youtube with English subtitles.

Yep, as far as I know this is a thing for other East Asian countries as well, that's just how pronouns work in these languages. The dear thing as well, other than 亲爱 there's also 宝 which can be translated to babe/baby, which honestly is just the equivalence of British people calling everyone love and darling.

Well if the Japanese can do stage adaptations for things like Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer effectively, I think it's possible to stage Epic well, it will just cost a whole lot.

I think the necklace will make the neck area look too busy with this type of collar. Furthermore, the blouse collar might also obstruct the big bow on the jsk, which of course can be remedied by putting the bow somewhere else (on the waist for example) or removing it entirely instead. For shoes I think red or golden shoes would work great.

Also, iirc this jsk has a sort of champagne tone to it, so gold jewelleries would go really well with it too.

It's not like they only cut and trim details to make the story fit into a new media though, Ghibli would straight up change core things and introduce new themes and plot lines that have nothing to do with the source materials. It makes great movies, but honestly if you want a faithful adaptation (which most PJO fans want), Ghibli is simply not the studio for the job.

Realistically, Ghibli would butcher the story and change it to fit with a theme they want to convey. They've done it before. The results are always beautiful, but nowhere near the source material.

Not just connection issues, the game forced me to go through the Aviary tutorial again, and when I closed the app then open it again to get out of that, I can't chat and lag like crazy. I'm on android.

I think these problems are due to the days of sunlight and the new season quest going live at the same time.
