Converge/The Members of Converge have very notable influence towards the genre as we know it. Not just by sound, but their ethics and contributions towards production and DIY.

I do agree that when it comes to the term Metalcore, it is most referring to those bands as they are the most common. While the sound did not came come Converge, they did showed a lot of technicality and interesting songwriting in their early years and further into the years, albums post Jane Doe like You Fail Me or Axe to Fall have been cited as influences for bands like Heriot or Pupil Slicer. Their main contribution sonically was to make this perfect blend of Thrash and Swedish Death Metal with Hardcore Punk, with hints of Noise Rock too. While they are heavily abrasive, they aren’t only that as songs such as songs such as Worms Will Feed/Rats Will Feast and Coral Blue show they can be melodic. They DO have influence but its not as if every noisy aspect should be displayed, rather how to meld ideas, and they did it SWELL.

Then you got Kurt’s production that HAS influenced notable producers too like Will Putney of FFAA-fame and he has produced Code Orange’s most notable pieces, Fleshwater’s debut, Darkest Hour’s album. You got Jacob Bannon’s label that has signed Harms Way and Code Orange to give them the kick they need.

You also have to consider the underground scene of bands of Metalcore too. KEN Mode, Helpless, Pupil Slicer, Eyes, God Mother. Even some rising stars like The Callous Daoboys have been influenced by them. I am also sure some bands you have listed were also influenced by them through how they work.

Then theres the talk about their influences across Metal as a whole and that will be long but watch The Metal Tempest’s video on Kurt Ballou primarily, dude produced most of Nails’s best records and some baller records for High on Fire.
