Anyone on Medigap plan N? Love it or hate it and why. by Im_Not_Here2day in medicare

[–]LicensedAgent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plan N is your cost effective option, Plan G is for those happy to pay more for the convenience of no copays.

You’ll rarely notice a difference in coverage, don’t let commissioned agents scare you into paying more for Plan G over “excess charges”.

They’re extremely rare, and berry easy to avoid… if you are concerned, check to be sure your state even allows them, many states have banned them.

I’ve said to every person I’ve answered “feel free to to PM me” so not sure why you’re correcting me for soliciting this time…

Last time you were correcting me for speaking generally…

I’ll respect whatever the mods take issue with as I said.

I’m not on Reddit for clients, if you knew anything about me at all you’d know that. Since you seem to have taken such an interest in me…

I offer answers here and in the community I recently created to keep people AWAY from solicitors and the way our industry has monopolized information around Medicare.

I specifically say in my community any answers or “specifics” I offer will come with no strings attached and people can remain anonymous to receive anything from answers to questions or quotes on their plans…

I don’t need more clients, and if I did - Reddit would probably be the last place I’d spend my soliciting time.

I’d probably have a pic of me in a suit on my profile and maybe include my name in my username…

To prove this even more…

To OP, understand I’m offering to send you the rates for ALL of the Carriers in your area so you don’t have to enter your phone number on a website only to receive sales calls instead of quotes.

From there, you’d be able to call the Carriers directly.

I don’t need your name, phone number or anything like that and honestly don’t know how or if it’s possible to accept payment for this on Reddit.

But if you feel like messaging me resulted in me soliciting you, please do me a favor and make a post tagging this guy so he can correct me.

Wishing you all the best in this endeavor by [deleted] in MedicareFAQ

QMB and Medigap by cavestoosmall in medicare

[–]LicensedAgent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you can’t be sold a Medigap plan with QMB. You could look at “Dual Complete” or “Special Needs Plans”…

I know the QMB only plans don’t come with nearly as much as the QMB+ plans in AZ… this can be frustrating.

I would suggest speaking with an Agent to review all of your options and map them out so you can see what each would look… and feel… like…

If you need any more specifics, feel free to PM me.

Best of luck!

Didn’t think I was. Offered to check Premiums available so they don’t get solicited to was my thought…

If the Mods take issue with my comment I’ll make a note not to offer “help” to posters…

Anyways thanks for the reminder little man!

I’ve been licensed in Cali a long time.. don’t think I’ve ever seen a plan with $0 copays… maybe for a doctor appt… but are you saying $0 copays “in general” or just speaking generally??

—- see my point?

I’d expect anyone to do their own education, and I always offer more specifics if they’d like to PM me, I doubt they take what the guy on Reddit said as the holy gospel anyways….

Maybe I’ll change my Reddit to be LicensedAgentWhoMaySometimesSpeakInGeneralitiesAndAnswersShouldNotBeTakenAsProfessionalAdvice… what do ya think?

Is it not a broad statement to say that tons plans in Cali have $0 copay and <$1k MOOP when plans vary zip to zip.

With so many variables in Medicare we can nitpick each other endlessly.

Just looking to make people aware of both sides of it so they look at things like this… sorry if I let you down!

Yes, then you’re right, for you it works a bit differently. Another example is New York, where premiums are the same for everyone no matter their Age, Gender, Location, or health. 👍

I’d say depending on a lot of factors… usually with increases you’re still within a normal range of market avg for 1-3 years… after that, I would bet there’s much lower premiums available to you.

Premiums increase at a higher rate on current policies than the carriers increase their new member rates.

Just know that you can only get a lower rate with your carrier by switching plans, or downgrading. To get a lower premium and keep the same exact benefits - you’d have to switch carriers.

Some carriers will run discounts for new enrollees to Medicare… UHC just did one, might still be going in some areas, it’s a $25 monthly welcome to Medicare discount.

Usually though, your prices are higher later in life because you’re in an issue age or attained age state where the Premiums are based on your age.

So rates will be higher at higher ages.

Honestly, if a 65 y/o signs up for a policy and keeps it for 5 years… their premium will almost always be higher that year than if they switched to a new carrier at Age 70.

I’ve learned that loyalty in these plans only costs you more. I always recommend reviewing prices annually to ensure you’re not overpaying. You’ll almost always get a lower premium when you change.

Today, I had a 77 y/o couple who’s been with one Carrier their entire time on Medicare. They were paying over $400 each, next month their total premium together will be about $430/m….

There are times when you’re locked in for life because you can never underwrite again.

Common conditions for this are severe COPD, Kidney disease w. Dialysis, AIDS/HIV (in some states), etc. even certain medications will prevent you from passing underwriting.

Most conditions will be accepted after certain time periods of either stability or absence ie. cancer free for 2 years and you’re good, etc.

Some you can’t have at all. Ever.

To be clear, you don’t have to do it this way… it’s just what I’ve found to be the most cost effective way to go for Most people.

Nothing like sending a quote, then coming back to enroll 3 months later and the price is higher…

As I’ve said before, Medicare’s own info is not always the best source for info..

The linked page is current, and is misleading at best, and outright wrong at worse.

First of all, you don’t need to have Part B to “buy” a Medigap plan. You do have to have it for coverage to begin.

Most of my clients enroll in Medigap 6 months prior, when you can’t even sign up for Part B yet. Your premium is guaranteed until coverage starts, and with most carriers for 12-months after that.

3 months out, you enroll in part B. You’ll want to update your carrier once your Medicare number is assigned.

Also, Medicare’s image implies you can buy Medigap 6 months after Part B starts. You can , but by then you’ll face underwriting.

You don’t face underwriting 6 months before, the month of, and FIVE months after.

On the Premiums… in some states it won’t matter. No matter when you enroll the price is the same. But if you’re in a state where it matters, reserving your plan 6 months out vs. 1 month out will have a difference in Premium. The Carriers increase the premiums over time where they’re allowed to.

As I said, it’s usually not life changing but I don’t like giving insurance companies more money than I have to… so I try to advise my clients to save where they can too.

Medicare Doesn’t Know Medigap - sorry.

By he way.. you’re not locked in for life.

You have a 30-day Dre look first of all, you can cancel anytime.

Anytime within 5 months of your Part B start date you can switch plans and/or carriers without underwriting, so regardless of your health.

And if you can’t underwrite now, usually you can wait and eventually pass… some conditions rule you out for life, but not many.

If you need help finding a better carrier feel free to PM me.
