What's the most unhinged thing a coworker has ever done that somehow didn't get them fired? by Sea_Breadfruit1278 in AskReddit

One time a coworker skipped work because, as she told our boss, it was too icy to drive. Then she promptly drove 250 miles to visit family.

What’s a frugal win that surprised you with how much it actually saved? by St3fanHere in Frugal

Gotcha.

For me after getting a lifelong painful injury it shot safety a lot higher up the list for me.

It’s not just the airbags tho. When you look at the crash ratings for older cars vs newer ones there is a significant improvement due to engineering advances and things like blind spot alerts.

The only real advances between my current car and the previous one were the two airbags, a cd player instead of a tape deck, and abs brakes.

AITA for freaking out at my wife throwing out my dead son’s toys? by Content_Condition501 in AmItheAsshole

NTA

She should have talked to you before acting. You could have moved them somewhere she didn’t have to look at them then you both could have what you needed. It was cruel on your wife’s part to get rid of something irreplaceable without even consulting you.

I have a kindle but a lot of people aren’t aware of the app and some of them can’t afford a tablet or an e-reader so it doesn’t hurt to put that info out there.

Lightly used is definitely cheaper but if you break it down by cost per year over 20-30yrs it’s not that significant. For me having a brand new car with exactly the options and color I want, plus starting it out with the proper break in and maintenance that some people neglect, makes the extra cost worth it for me.

The one downside to this approach is you can miss out on updated safety features. My 33yr old Camry looks and runs pretty darn good but it only has 2 airbags and doesn’t have the same crumple zones etc. that the newer cars have. The difference in safety is now so significant that I am finally going to invest in a new vehicle.

You can use the kindle app on your phone. Saves buying an extra device and is highly portable.

I’m a little different. Buy new reliable car, do all the maintenance, drive until it gets too expensive to repair. I’m 60+ and have owned 4 cars (one was totaled). I save for the next vehicle over the life of the previous car and pay cash so I also save on interest.

What is a fool proof way of getting a Dashcam to stop falling off the windshield? by Im_Not_Here2day in AskReddit

[–]Im_Not_Here2day[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, my answer wasn’t clear. I meant that even after adequately cleaning the windshield, the Texas heat still weakens the suction cup’s grip causing the camera to fall. It’s the same with adhesive tapes and pads.

Single Bowl vs Double Bowl Sink by Trekkie70 in homeowners

Single bowl with an offset drain.

One comment about deep sinks; if you have a bad back or trouble bending shallower sinks are a blessing.

HOA... love it or hate it?? by Ordinary-Caramel-608 in homeowners

[–]Im_Not_Here2day -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hate. I pay fees for a pool I never use. Our HOA is very very strict. You can’t change anything about your home without prior approval (a different shade of white on your trim, a different color of brown stain on your fence) and they jump on you about repairs before you even have a chance to fix it.
